i am very close with child abuse, and dont like to talk about it tho.partly bc i was a victim myself.

Sorry to hear about that, but perhaps your crusade against the circus and so on would be better worked thru in therapy than at kinko's

if theres any way to help stop animal cruelty, it isnt destruction of public or private property, or SCREAMING at the top of their lungs holding up pictures of skinned animals. that just fails to get the point across cz your not telling why it is cruel.

I think it gets the point across quite nicely, or directly, I should say.

PETA is very disrespectful of others. they destroy property (throwing red paint on ppl)

No, they don't throw red pain on people. They throw it on people's fur coats but why do they do that? The fur industry is EXTREMELY cruel and far beyond what most people even realize, including the idiots who wear fur coats. And the people who splatter fur coats with red paint know they are breaking the law and can go to jail for it but they don't care. Some things are worth going to jail for.

ppl dont even pay attention to what they are fighting for in the first place. they only pay attention to the ridiculous acts being portrayed by PETA.

I disagree.

im not bashing them, sorry if it sounds like that,bc i do respect them for wat they are trying to do,but goodness.

Well, ok. Continuoulsy calling them ridiculous isn't bashing them. My mistake.

Hey Paula, I think her a neat gal and I like you but I've worked with lots of PETA people in the past and they are decent, caring human beings. Sometimes they do extreme things but they are fighting huge corprations who do extreme things to aniamls, like the fur industry, factory farming, rodeos, etc.

paulaorcas
12-31-2007, 10:28 AM
yes but about the red paint thing.obviously if it gets on the coat it gets on the ppl.and whether your against ppl weraing fur or not you just dont do that.its very rude.i care that the animals are tortured and i hate it and i want to kill the ppl that are wearing fur coats, but destroying their personal items and being rude toward them just wont work.it will only make them not care about the animal cruelty even more.and its not going to change their opinion on wearing fur,it will only make them angry.to truely change a persons opinions, you must get deep into their pov and find the loophole in their reasoning.ok sorry i called PETA rediculous.but i do respect them for wat they are tryin to do.

Scumbelina
12-31-2007, 10:29 AM
also, targeting little children is no way to get your point across, would you like it if someone showed your child horific animal abuse pictures and scared them half to death.i used to like PETA,but then i saw the lengths they would go.

I don't know about the allegation you speak of, but I'd like to research it. I don't think they drove up to a school and held up bloody signs while the kids were playing at recess, right? There has to be mroe to the story that what you posted.

But as far as showing children horrific abuse to animals, they do it in Japan three months of every year. They needlessly hack up and butcher live dolphins while the school kids walk by like it was no big deal.

Have you seen the video????????????

I'll post it here if you wanna see it. If it doesn't piss you off and make yer skin crawl, I dont know what will.

ive SEEN the video.its SICKENING!isnt it?! and yes, they went to mcdonalds posessing fake happy meal boxes dipicting the clown holding a dead slaughtered chicken.they called it the "unhappy meal" and the newscast shows footage of people standing next to their crying and frightened children.the "unhappy meal" even came complete w a toy.i saw this, believe it or not on a documentary about the founder of PETA on hbo.its called "I Am An Animal".the mcdonalds thing is what set me off.as soon as i saw that i said "you just dont do that" and these children were quite young too.

Hold on a second here. Do you realize you just said it's RUDE to throw paint on a person wearing a fur coat and you wanna KILL that person instead?

Good grief, what can I say to that???

HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! Hey, I had to laff!

And yes , it DOES sometimes times work when you educate a fur wearing person about the intense cruelty involved at a fur farm. A few years ago, PETA sent JayLO a video of the fur industry since she likes to wear furs. She was appalled at what she saw and said she would NEVER wear fur again.

Well, I guess that didn't last too terribly long since she's back to wearing fur again, I think.

I may have the celebrity wrong but I think it was her.

Anyway, it does work but not always.

paulaorcas

kill was meant not seriously.metophorically as in i am disgusted by them.not really wanting to kill them.well,i dont think throwing paint on ppl is education,so why dont they just do wat they did with jaylo?obviously it didnt work with her but it could work with others.

Well, ya know, McDonalds is a horrible establishment as far as animal cruelty goes so I understand what PETA did. I don't have kids but if I did I would never want them to eat such revolting, diseased meat that came from an abused, sickly animal. Would you??

I think PETA was targeting the parents and unfortunatley, at the kid's expense but....but.....BUT....

Sometimes extreme measures are needed to fight extreme corporations.

PLUS... a decent parent wouldn't feed their child McDonalds.... if they only knew.

paulaorcas

i know but why DIDNT they target the parents instead of USING the child.isnt their another way i mean cmon.anyway im pretty sure that thats why im mad at them or watever.that just really didnt sit too well with me when i saw that.but im sure ill get over it.

I'm sure they sent out lots of videos and may have changed lots of fur wearing people's minds, I'll just betcha.

Seeing a video like that is more effective than throwing some red paint on a fur coat, I would think but I guess they wanted to persue a different avenue as well.

paulaorcas

PETA may have the right to fight for animal rights, and the chickens certainly do have a right to live and not be tortured, but then shouldnt the parents have a right to go out with their children once in a while and not have to worry about being terrified?and dont they have the right then,if they are targeted,to respond the way they want to.i agree mcdonalds is a horribl place.its disgusting.all fast food resteruants like them are pretty much careless and very unhealthy.

I guess because children are very impressionable and hopefully, maybe later in life, they'll remember that day at McDonalds when those whacky PETA people showed up with some bloody signs and showed them what they are really eating but again, I think they were targeting the parents to wake up and smell reality and to realize what they're feeding their children, and themselves.

Sir Paul McCartney,Pamela Anderson,Dolly Parton, Morrissey, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Sarah Jessica Parker among others. PETA has 1.8 million members worldwide. I agree with a lot of what they do but certainly don't agree with them 100%. Donating to terrorist animal liberation groups being one thing I don't agree with. And if you want to be a vegetarian that's great just don't try to force other people to do it because you think they should. www.kentuckyfriedcruelty.com (http://www.kentuckyfriedcruelty.com) I think some of their members care more about animals than they do for people. They have spayed a lot of dogs and cats in poor sections of Kentucky and Virginia where otherwise they would just have a lot more uncared for animals but have been criticized for euthanizing some animals uneccesarily.I am not a member of PETA except for a year in the early 90''s when I went to a B-52's concert in Atlanta that had a PETA booth and got a cool t-shirt for joining for a year! I wouldn't join them now though! They do a yearly running of the nudes in Spain each year-instead of with the bulls. And that's fine with me.:) :) :)

Ok, I just watched the YouTubes and they were rather entertaining. I've liked Penn and Teller for quite some time now, and have seen them live in Hollywood years ago.

But, there were quite a few holes in their presentation but you most likely didn't notice them, I'll bet.

First of all not all PETA supporters are vegetarians. I don't know how many PETA members you have known but I've know a few. Not lots, just a few and they were not vegetarians.

Again, there's a huge difference in factory farms and traditional farms but I posted about that already on another board ealier today. At least one of the YouTubes showed how fukked up they are. GASP!!

Penn and Teller said that Ingrid Newkirk said "people should not have pets." then they played that part of the video where she talks about animals should not be exploited, killed or tortured and said NOTHING AT ALL about not owning a pet.

I've never been a member of PETA but the animal rights group I was a member of, did, from time to time, work with PETA but not too often.

Anyway, the animal rights founder of OCPA was a dog owner and many animal rights activists have pets but they prefer to call them 'animal companions' but I don't know why Penn and Tell persuaded their viewers to think PETA is against owning a pet (????).

But ya know, lots of the people speaking in that video aren't PETA people but are from other animal rights organizations.

A.L.F. is very extreme and those are the ones who are destroying property and fire-bombing establishments, not PETA. But then, they did prove that Ingrid gave Rod Coronado lots of $$$$ so there ya go.

When I worked a little with PETA, Ingrid Newkirk wasn't even a part of them back then and this is the first I've heard of her. But for them to compare her to Hitler was a little out there. Funny sure, but a little out there

But when Gary Urofski said "put a bunny and an apple in a crib with a baby and if the baby eats the rabbit and plays with the apple, I'll buy you a new car."

That is PLAGIARISM!!!

Harvey Diamond wrote those exact words about 20 years ago when he wrote Fit For Life.

Anyway, there are some loony animal rights activists and then you have me, a not so loony one :)

Ive never been a member of PETA but have protested with them a time or two. The most horrible thing I ever saw them do, was when one of them handcuffed herself to Cybil Sheppherd's gate.

OH, THE HUMANITY!!!!

We were protesting in front of Cybil's mansion in Los Angeles since she was the spokeswoamn for L'oreal, a very cruel company.

Like I said earlier, there are some loony activists and some not so loony. I don't throw paint on people and I don't destroy property but the ones who are the property destroyers are usually members of ALF and other extreme organizations.

PETA is small potatoes, comparatively speaking.
