When we were little we always had dreams but life turned out otherwise, for many of us anyways.
For me, I always wanted to be an astronaut ever since I became aware of space and space travel. I ended up a bookkeeping clerk instead. :p

What about you?

I'm still in college now, so I suppose I still have the chance to become whatever I want. When I was a kid I wanted to be a chef, but eventually figured out that I have NO talent in the kitchen. Then when I was a little older I wanted to be a fashion designer, but shortly after hitting puberty my mind changed. I became less creative, and all my interests totally reversed - Now I'm a history major looking to become a college professor or perhaps a museum curator. I'm going to have my first real-ish job starting next month - I have an internship at the Smithsonian Institution, specifically the postal museum.

When I was a kid I loved sewing and knitting (yeah I know) and wanted to become a teacher :)
I studied for a bit, then worked with computers and graphic design for a few years, now I'm a student again trying to get a degree in science.

Edit: Oh, at some point I wanted to be a marine biologist too, guess it was highschool or so...

I must confess that I never had dreams as a child about what I would become, or what I would be doing for a living (if and when I ever grew up).

My entire working life, through jobs and a military career, and now the second career after, the work has always been the work and not the fulfillment of a life's dream.

I can say though, I am very lucky.
I do remember from a very young age wanting to be loved, and to have a loving partner and companion.

It took many years of the journey through the dating, the really long and sad marriage to the wrong person, parenthood, a lot of tom-catting around, divorce, hitting rock bottom, and then finally putting it all together. In the end I am happy to report that I have found my center, and my life's love.

I now wake up every morning to the best girl in the world (I am happily remarried), and I guess you could say that I have become that which I always dreamed of being;
A happy feller with a wonderful wife, two wonderful daughters, and the sweetest grandbaby that God ever put on this earth.

Life is good.

Growing up with the threat of nuclear war bring about the end of man-kind at any minute, I did not really set early goals of a future career- Just to enjoy whatever I did, and being appreciative of each day.

I have enjoyed many things, from chopper pilot, lumberjack, law enforcement, sales, working for others to owning my own companies, to robotic programming.

So far I have had an enjoyable life.
I believe that employment that you wish to do, rather than settle for- due to circumstances, is much more enjoyable, healthy and productive.

I wanted to be an orchestra conductor when I was a kid. I don't remember ever wanting to do anything else when I was a kid except maybe become a member of the Beatles-ha ha. Now I'm a massage therapist.

Well I haven't become anything yet,but what I really want to do is work with marine mammals or birds. I would also like to be a nature photogrpher. Did you know to be a sea world trainer would must be able to dive to the bottom of a 26 foot deep pool? better start practicing now. LOL:lolhit:

Working in a pet store would be a cool job too dont you think? i just went into petsmart today, and taking care of the birds and other exotic animals looks fun.

I always wanted to be either a teacher or a long haul trucker. Since I spent more than thirty years as a teacher and administrator I guess I fulfilled my childhood dream.

Along the way I was a soldier (telephone lineman, telegrapher, teletypists, cryptographer and finally battalion ratio chief), a carpenter, a machinest, an exterminator, a heavy construction worker, head of store security, an administrator for a large special education camp, a night watchman, a college instructor, a calligrapher, a custom leather worker, and a few jobs I can no longer remember.

Now I have the job I have always dreamed of, doing nothing and getting paid for it. Retirement is grand.

As a kid I never thought much about it, but a super agent type like Jason Bourne was close to what I had in mind.

As a teenager I wanted to be a writer. I switched culture and country in mid-teen so that became unrealistic. In any case I grew bored with it.

Now I am a software developer. But really the lure of this line of work was so I can be sitting down all day, with access to the web, and not be bothered.
