Ever give thought to the cost of snow removal? Here's what one town in western NY state (my home town (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&country=US&popflag=0&latitude=&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&addtohistory=&cat=&address=&city=boston&state=ny&zipcode=)) receives:
" ...In other business from their meeting, the Town Board:
• Agreed to a snow and ice removal contract with Erie County.
The county will pay the town $2,658 per lane mile for snow removal on certain county roads for the 2007-08 fiscal year, $2,791 per lane mile for 2008-09 and $2,931 per lane mile for 2009-10. (scroll to end (http://www.thesunnews.net/news.php3?idkey=7169)). ..."
They are paid, regardless of the amount of snow - if it's like this (http://img401.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rte11oswegoconync9.jpg)- or bare ground.
Just wasn't something I ever gave thought to and found interesting enough to share.
