I never had GI Joe's as a kid, but my senior year of high school, a friend of mine gave me a pencil box full of them. Occasionally we use them when we're playing an intense game of RISK to represent a type of army. Good times.

The only people who give me presents are my aunt and uncle who are closest to being my actual parents in the US. Aunt's godparents also give me presents. Throughout the years it has evolved to the point where they will just ask me beforehand what I want instead of guessing and giving stuff I end up not using.

Yeah, well, I'm tired of my relatives' imaginations giving me crappy ass gifts. :D

Gift cards are good to get from family that don't really know you very well or rarely ever get to see you. They allow you to get whatever you want for Christmas and not be disappointed. Then again, there are those relatives that you may not know at all, but seem to remember your every step in life...and who tend to give you the crappy gifts.

Getting a gift card from an immediate family member or a significant other is kinda trashy, IMO. They know you well enough that they should know what you like.

Yeah, well, I'm tired of my relatives' imaginations giving me crappy ass gifts. :D

I really don't like them all that much either...for the same reason you listed....HOWEVER, I did request gift cards from Coldwater Creek from my mom and sister only because I want to wait till after Christmas to hit their 70% off sales and get three times as much for the buck as what they would have gotten before Christmas ;)

LOL... I like clothes. I need some new ones. Since I don't have a job to make money to buy them myself, my parents have to buy them. I feel less guilty about letting them buy me stuff for Christmas.

Clothes don't bother me. I'm usually not too picky about what to wear. However, if it's one of those lame christmas sweaters or something that's six sizes too small, then someone's going to have to pay.
