I remember reading a story told by African American Fighter Pilots from the 99th and 332nd Fighter groups, saying that they encountered several ariel confrontations with the luftwaffe who were fighting them with captured American warplanes

The UK and the US did it too from time to time but not nearly as often as the Luftwaffe. Kind of a cunning idea actually.

Apparently the Romanians also trialed a Hawker Hurricane with a DB 601 engine (same as in a ME-109E/F) and found the performance very much improved.

Strange-as the US and UK have been using Nazi technology ever since.
