But they failed to achieve the main objective of getting binding commitments from emerging economies such as China and India to reduce their emissions.

In the end, the Bali Roadmap consists of a framework for emissions cuts, the transfer of clean technology to developing countries, reducing deforestation, and adaptation aid for developing countries vulnerable to droughts and rising sea levels.

As primitive man stated elsewhere-negotiation.

The United States signing up in principle means that everyone can hammer out an agreement.

I believe Canada was very reluctant to sign. :(

Yes I didn't check the other boards before posting.

I was surprised about it in the paper and jumped on it.

However I think they signed up before the word of "Chalk River" started circulating because it was closed when it was discovered it has no back up cooling pumps and restarted without installing them either.

What would have Gore said about it if given the chance about a nuclear facility running this way.

Well-I can agree that the US wants more emphasis put on developing nations such as China and India-there isnt much point Euroland and N.America going all green, while the others are pumping out all sorts of shit, then flooding our
markets with cheap crappy goods.

I just hope the US doesnt use this as an excuse to drag its feet.

They were "Shamed /embarrassed" into agreeing (Albeit only in principle)

The vidio on News Net (CTV) showed them being asked to Lead or get out of the way
Clearly they were forced to save face....or as we'd put it ...put up or shut up

The price or power will increase because of billions of dollars going towards carbon credits however when this was going to happen before; Canadians were offered money to produce solar electric power that can be loaded on the grid.
While traditional costs to produce electric power are 0.48 cents a kilowatt you could earn 0.48 cents a kilowatt and then buy it back at subsidized cost at 0.06 cents a kilowatt.
This way we buy back our own carbon credits and keep the money in country

You'll be disappointed to learn that the US, despite not signing Kyoto, has doen better than Europe at reducing their emissions.
European jerk-offs slagging the US and their own record is even worse says all one needs to know about their 'position'.

Your right they are jerk-offs.

Imagine them not starting that on average,

EU-pumps out 733 million tons of carbon per year.

US,Canada-pumps out 1.82 billion tons of carbon per year.

The fools.

Tho both are very bad sets of figures.

when the euro-weenies can claim to have done a better job, hey, even living up to their treaty obligations, of cutting their emissions then they might have a hearing. Until then it's just more mindless blather.

I doubt it. Kyoto was voted down 95-0 in the senate, under a democratic president.

New Year
New President
Who knows.

Tho as I said earlier, the US has the cutting edge technology
and ability to address the big picture-so lets hope they LEAD.

I'm sure books about solar power are flying off the shelves.
