I've never been a huge Farve fan, and I noticed some pretty strong negative sentiment directed his way on the Dallas v Green Bay thread. But the recent Sports Illustrated article, where he is named Sportsman of the Year, was pretty touching. Check it out.

I can't say I'm a huge Favre fan, but as sports figures go he seems like a decent guy. He's had no major problems with the law, he's not a drunk, and he's managed not to come across as arrogant. On top of that he's a halfway decent quarterback with a nice career. What more can you ask?

I'm not really a fan of John Madden's husband either.

Some people don't like it when a non-Manning is discussed.

I like Brett. He's a fine sportsman and intense player without being a thug.
Back in the day I imagine he'd be a two-way player.

Shows a very human hero. Good story. Passes the limits of fan loyalty and can show us all how much we can improve on our own life stories.

Favre is a good quarterback for the greenbay packers. Hope his career will be more long than expected.
