Don't feel like fighting right now. Just wanted to get a feel for the boundaries of acceptability for use of the taser with some of the crew here. (I originally had this in another thread, but maybe it got buried in the cat fight we all got into.)
What about his case?

I think it's sickening. She's upset cuz a male cop is trying to frisk her and that was her only argument, but there's a female cop just a few feet away, watching the whole scenario.
My question is, WHY didn't they let the female cop frisk the female suspect?? That whole scene could have easily been avoided if they had let the female cop do the frisking but nooooo, they chose to do the MACHO thing and show some unnecessary force cuz they are fukking jerkwads.
Just my opinion, the assholes.

Wow.....that was fucked up. Going just by what i saw, the old man needs to have a cattle prod shoved up his ass.

but that's fuq'd up! i can't see any reason for him to be touching her at all. all he did was expose himself to a molestation complaint...and now assault.

Surely if we had seen the whole scenario, we might be able to make a honest decision on whether the cop acted reasonably or not. Surely we can't accuse the cop of wrongdoing before we know everything! 90% of cops being fantastically nice people and all!

I gotta agree with Scummy here, why on earth didn't the female cop step in and frisk the woman? This all could have been avoided if the male cop had simply stepped back and asked the female cop to take over.
And what the heck is up with them asking if she's ready to cooperate after they tasered her and she whacked her head on the chair and is obviously unconcious?

I propose that we make a section dedicated to taser stories.... seems to be a new one everyday.

I suggest we start posting stories of all the horrible things CRIMINALS do (like shooting innocent people in malls) and get off the bash-a-cop wagon. After all, these terrible injustices being done to 'innocent' citizens have all been caught on tape, so no doubt the renegade cops are having to answer for their actions. Discussing it to death is like beating a dead horse.

SMWThe topic of the thread is not your opinion of the topic. You are free to start any thread you like, but on this one could you answer the simple question posed in Post #1. Or you could stay out of the conversation all together if it's too far beneath you.

If the topic of the tread is NOT asking people's opinions, what is it? You trying to put together a posse to hunt down the cop and hang him???
:lolhit:
OK, OK... I'll leave you alone to wallow in cop-bashing to your heart's content.
Right after I say again... it's a dumb subject that's been tasered to death around here.

The topic of the thread is whether the posted link showed a proper use of a taser! I'm trying to get a feel for how far some of the folks I've disagreed with, in the past, would go in allowing tasers to be used. I'm trying to understand their sense of propriety in this question.
If you're not interested in the matter, fine. But don't be mucking up the thread with sidebars that don't address the question.

My hate for police stops at making strong statements about their lack of ability to do their jobs on the Internet. Any more and I'd risk more contact with those power-mad loons.

do you want to pay the taxes to pay for there to be enough police to catch every criminal without violating anyone's civil right?
i thought not!

Sad thing is that this woman is alone in a room with two cops and the male cop is frisking here for what we don't know. Imagine how helpless she must be feeling. Handcuffed and alone!!

I have a few problems with the video. We don't know what she was arrested for, the circumstances surrounding the arrest, or why she was being searched. I'd also like to know why she was handcuffed with her hands in front of her....that's not normal.
Anybody know where this incident took place?

Anybody know where this incident took place?I believe it was a DUI arrest. No idea where it was. In some places front-cuffing is fine, based on perceived risk, but not in most.
Just curious: in your mind, are these questions relevant in determining your opinion of whether or not the taser use was appropriate?

No, but it is relevant when you're trying to determine what you're watching.

can you prove that's what the cop was doing? No,you can't. It shows him trying to frisk her and her refusing to let him. It doesn't show the cop trying to "feel her up"

to frisk someone properly, you have to run your hands over them completely...everywhere. most Dept's have rules against frisking members of the opposite sex for just this reason.

I was hoping for an opinion on this from a few more folks, like Borg, Vile and Leper, etc. My intent is not to argue the matter, but to get a sense of how far you'd allow use.
What about his case?

There was no video working at that link but I got the paragraph story.
In this released video, a woman arrested for suspicion of drunk driving objects to the male officer putting his hands on her and another policeman tasers her. Afterwards, she appears to be unconscious as they ask her to cooperate with them.
So his case; I suppose he's been charge with attempting to frisk her.
At the end of the day I can understand the police just having no patience with drunks and the best way is to just use that taser....
