Let's see, HaVoK... how many females post regularly in the political section?

There's me... and DF...

*more crickets chirping*

Just an observation. Not a condemnation.

Same thing with the liberal atheist issue. I have real life friends who are one or the other... or both, and we get along just fine. But of course, we don't have daily discussions about our differences, either.

;)
SMWSo because there are fewer females posting, it's tougher for y ou somehow? I dont get the security in numbers concept on an internet forum, if that's what you mean.

Either way, I still dont understand how females especially need the thick skin here. No one is singling out females to personally attack that i can see. Maybe im missing something.

All I'm saying is MOST females avoid putting themselves into situations where they will most certainly be subjected to name-calling, having their beliefs ridiculed, their intelligence questioned, etc. In other words, political and/or religious discussions. My theory is validated by the small number of female posters in those sections. Has nothing at all to do with me personally. I know exactly what to expect when I post a pro-Bush message around here. Multitudes of sisters surrounding me wouldn't help me one little bit. That's not the point. Males pretty much dominate political discussions and some of them can be downright nasty. That's all I'm trying to say.

Don't get me wrong... there are a LOT of males out there who are also peaceable-loving people. Chances are, they don't participate in online political forums much either.

It's not just females who need thick skin to take on posters who get their kicks by slinging insults. As evidenced by the number of men who get sick of the constant bickering and start threads like this one, saying they're leaving... quite a few males are affected as well.

;)

Don't you think that's the way it should be, hun? I mean, c'mon now.....it's called "man-talk" for a reason, right???

OTOH, I'm sure most women are happier talking about their nail polish anyway. I mean, hell - if they ARE into politics, then usually they're off trying to "save" the world, one maladjusted kid, or social "injustice", at a time. Seriously, those chicks make me think that Happy Holly lost her bake set. It's downright appalling, IMHO.

On that note, you should consider yourself lucky to be here. You're not like most females. You seem pretty smart. :)

Certainly not. I was busy looking for my Happy Holly bake set.

LOL... Oh we love you Prae. :D

Sucks that I ain't a cooker or a cleaner.... I can do 'em, I just prefer not to. And in the case of cooking, everyone else also prefers that don't. :p

EDIT: But I figure all I need to keep a man is know how to make a sandwich, open a beer, do his laundry, and take off my clothes. :D

Well, I can't speak for any other females, but I'm very sensitive. I've even been known to cry about some things said to me here.

Oh my god Dark... please tell me I never made you cry...

Nah. Dharma has and Frogger has. Maybe SMW because I vaguely remember a conflict with her at some point. Can't think of anyone else at the moment. It mainly has to do with my mood at the time of getting into an altercation. And if I cry it's about something that I think might actually be true, you know, if an insult hits real close to home. Also if I have a lot of respect for the person insulting me (hence being affected by the comments of people like Frogger and SMW, who are my elders by a lot and therefore have my immense respect by default unless they do something to use it). Point is, some random troll telling me that I'm an idiot won't really faze me unless I really have bad PMS or something.... :lolhit:

Ahh, and the REAL culprit for why women cry hysterically (and typically, for no reason, at that) finally surfaces.... :D

I've never dated a girl that didn't lose her fuckin' mind once a month. Pretending to "care" really takes its toll on a man after a while. You know, you people have to loosen your grip.

Just spitballing here, but I wonder if there's a drug out there that can actually stop you guys from having a period altogether....

Hell, that'd be AWESOME. I'd FORCE my woman to take that shit....

well I am with dark,,,,, generally with age comes experience, and normally with experience there comes knowledge, and then with knowledge there lies wisdom...I have the benefit of on here seeing some very intelligent "elders" post with years upon years of looking at the world through their very own unique eyes. I might not agree with much with anything Free thinker says, but I am at awe as to how his own life has brought him to that plane of personal understanding to the world around him.

Birth control, Prae. Taken for its full monthly period, it halts the menstrual cycle.

BINGO!!!! You're totally right - that's all that's really required. Well, I guess it really depends on the guy, but you have to be a good conversationalist, too. I hate dull, shy, humorless women with a passion (unless they're REALLY hot, of course), but somehow, I don't think that's a problem for you. You're certainly much, much smarter than the average bear out there. :)

If only I could fix some of your political views......hmmmm....

Okay - you're right, and come to think of it, I should've clarified; what I'm actually looking for is more of an 'anti-lunacy' pill than a 'we need to stop your menstrual cycle' pill. I've dated girls on birth control before, and they're still nuts once a month. I mean, seriously - what gives???

I really don't believe in the whole, "wife as domestic servant" thing. You want someone to clean up after you and do your laundry, hire a maid/nanny. I'd want my wife to be focused on the more important things in her life than cooking, cleaning, and getting my drinks. Like her career, art, hobbies. And the sex, of course! To me, marriage is a sharing of otherwise separate lives. The Norman Rockwell thing doesn't really interest me. Of course, neither does the, "hire a nanny to raise your kids, cause you're both too busy to bother" thing, either. My demands would be for things like, spending a certain amount of time together a week, a light enough workload that you're not constantly stressed, prioritizing family time (not duties) over work.

Funny, Prea. Misogynistic as hell, but undeniably funny. It's a wonder how you survive in Illinois...you must be a hell of a lot more diplomatic when dealing with blue-state ladies!

O.K... well as far as birth control aka the pill go this is my unserstanding..
when females go thru their natural menstual cycle, an egg is released into the uterus and the uterus lining thickens in preparation for fostering a fertilized egg...if the egg is not fertilized, a woman will shed this lining during what most people call her "period"........

point being.... THere is no cure out there for a female and her insanity,,,,, Sorry Prae,,,,you might want to look into a hysterectomy

when a woman is on BCP, the hormones in the pill do not allow the lining to develop as it naturally would, so the egg does not survive and cannot be fertilized there is no real lining to lose - BUT there is a week of sugar pills with no hormones in them the body will then go through a withdrawal and the female will still bleed as if she was on her period, but it truly is not a period

I'm not that bad when I have PMS. Not to my boyfriend anyways. I mostly just want him to leave me alone around then because I hate it when people see me cry. This kind of hurts guys' feelings sometimes, oddly. But wouldn't they rather be alone than feel uncomfortable because I'm upset?
