Come now, Vile. You really think I never talked to any mods about it? Sparky ranted to me for hours on my visit about to and shaman. Borg and I chat regularly on IM. Nothing was getting done. And I was tired of waiting.

I can understand that, but this forum doesn't run on your timetable, and taking matters into your own hands only made things worse. Would you prefer carefully thought out moderating, or knee-jerk responses on our part?

As it happened, the decision to ban Shaman temporarily was made by me unilaterally. Borg, Sparky and I had discussed the situation at length previously, but we had come to no consensus on the best course of action to take, much like the group was pretty evenly split in the poll that was taken.

Shaman's banning certainly isn't the best outcome, and personally, I hate banning people, but it seemed that some action had to be taken to break the log-jam, so to speak. I banned him only temporarily, and when he returns, if he does, we'll see if he's decided to take the hint or not. When I say "we" I mean the mods.

You mentioned yourself that when you first started posting here there were calls for your banning as well, and that's true. We didn't ban you despite some pressure to do so, and that was a carefully considered decision, not one made in haste. I think we made the right decision in regards to you, and I hope that despite your impatience, we'll make the right decisions regarding Shaman.:)

Let me think of the right way to reply to your falsehoods.....hmmmmmmm

oh yes... now i have it!

Do the research... Liquidfork is clearly a conservative, and even though he disagrees with me, i consider him to be on an equal plain and have said so many times.

So it seems that you are wrong

Yeah.

Absolutely brilliant fucking refutation.

I prefer some compromise between the two. Shaman had been spamming the boards for weeks now, and nothing was being done, when several extremely simple and easily done solutions were evident, which had been done successfully in the past. It was long past time. I made the call and decided to do something. Nobody told me to stop, and I even discussed it with Sparky the night I began. Had one of you done so, I would have stopped. Of course, I would have reiterated my demand for something to be done, but I would have stopped. We don't need to be so careful. Take away his ability to start threads, order him to cut back, temp ban him, pick one and just get it done!

I am eminently glad you decided to do so. I was really worried that no action would have been taken for several days. I was hoping my actions would spur something to be done, and it succeeded.

I think we made the right decision in regards to you, and I hope that despite your impatience, we'll make the right decisions regarding Shaman.
Impatience? I really didn't care all that much about the situation myself. I certainly don't think of Shaman as overbearing, but I can see how others think so, and the board was getting so overwhelmingly negative that it was only a matter of time before people started bailing. What caused me to do what I did was seeing the change in attitude of the boards, and in particular Sparky. I don't participate much in Politics, mostly lurk. so what goes on there is of little consequence to me. The situation, though, was worsening by the day, and it's not impatience on my part, but indecisiveness on yours, that caused me to act.

And what's to hope about? If Shaman decides AFN isn't for him if he can't spam his shit all over the place and doesn't come back after the ban, good for him, and good for us. If he decides to play nicely, limit his threads, and not turn the boards into an echo chamber, good for him, and good for us. If he comes back and still stirs his crap all over the place, then we can take away his ability to start threads, or perma-ban him. That's the great thing about it. We don't have to hope.
