<....And, you can go-ahead and shut-down this thread, after responding...I'm not tryin' to Beat a dead-Elephant....>

Moderator's note:
All you jackasses who like to post insulting personal attacks?
Please stop. I implore you.
"....jackasses who like to post insulting personal attacks..."

....But, that lil' conflict-in-sentiment is beside-the-point.....personal attacks against each-other.....or, just against George Bush?

You could have (at-least) qualified what you were attempting to say.

Why, I meant, "jackasses who like to post insulting personal attacks" against each-other, of course.

Personal attacks against George Bush are protected communications under the widely-recognized laws and protocols regarding Freedom Of Speech, apparently.

This is a wonderful country, when you think about it.
If we all lived in Russia, Red China, or North Korea, publicly criticizing the nation's highest office-holder would land you in prison, or worse.

That's why I'm proud to be living and working here in the USA.
Free speech is a precious right, and a privilege.
One that I would never want to lose.

God bless you, Mr. Shaman.
Please carry on your mission, and with my personal heart-felt support and backing at that.

I have been guilty of the personal attacks from time to time on here. For that I apologise. Most times it was brought on by a sense of frustration... frustration based on no real discussions... no real thought... just hackneyed rhetoric and talking points.

It seems that the political forum section of AF has become a veritable "bastion" of free speech for those that desire a very liberal direction for the country. While I think a good balance of liberal and conservative ideology is the best for our country, AF has become basically a "cheerleading" board for the Democratic party. Any response that I make to any thread, gets a "ditto-head" or "Rudy's guy" type reply to me (most here know that I am not a Rush fan, nor am I planning to vote for Rudy).

The actual posters that DID discuss and debate on this board have either left or no longer post in the Political forum (not that I blame them, mind you). The Youtube Video thread is a perfect example of this... Cheerleading for each other. No debate, just a circle jerk.

With that, I will join brooks and retire from posting here. I'll be around in the forums to keep up with the good friends that I have made. I'll just retire from the political arena.

If there are anyone of my "old debate friends" that would like an oldphart's opinion on a politcal issue... shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to discuss my "take" (my opinion and $2 will get you a cup of java at the coffee shop... maybe).

Political discussion here on AF has been fun (it's just not anymore).

Pete

I, for one, am getting absolutely fucking tired of this. I refuse to lose another good poster to the bullshit that is going on these days in Politics and News. I'm throwing down the gauntlet. Truthout and Shaman are not welcome here anymore. We must stand up for the integrity of our forum, and this is a disease we must rid ourselves of. Anybody who cares about the forum should see that those two posters are ruining everything.

We need to let them know, in uncertain terms, to peddle their shit elsewhere. AFN is not a sink for people to just post item after item of the same fucking thing, over and over again. AFN is not their goddamn mailing list.

I don't think they should be banned. Truthout doesn't really start THAT many threads. If they would just consolidate some of the threads into one thread each, something that several of our posters have done with their pet issues, I would not see any problem. Actually, I don't see a problem now, but I am one of the hardest people to annoy that I know. :)

Napsterbater
11-25-2007, 08:00 PM
Fuck banning them. They don't deserve the notoriety. We just need to convince them to stop posting. That means in every single truthout or Shaman thread, we need to let them know exactly what we think of what they're doing to our board.

DarkFantasy96
11-25-2007, 08:57 PM
Sure you've run off people before, but Truthout seems like the type who would just intensify his efforts if he felt he was being censored or oppressed in some way.

And no, I would not want it to work. I don't feel that you should be the supreme arbiter of Allforums, able to just decide who you don't like and then harass them until they leave. Nothing personal Nap, but that's not how it should work, and I don't think the mods will just stand by and let you try to do it either.

I'm not the supreme arbiter of AFN. I'm doing a job that needs to be done, that no one else has the guts to do. Sure truth and Mr. Shaman would redouble their efforts if they felt they were being censored and oppressed. But I'm not doing either. I'm forcing them to realize that nobody wants them here other than their cheerleaders. If I have to martyr myself for the sake of the boards than so be it. AFN is not worth contributing to with those two shitdicks around. If the three of us all got banned I would consider it a victory.

Hi,

As you can see lots of people here are pissed off at your excessive posting. We fully "get" that you are really pissed off at the current administration. I, too am equally pissed off. However, this AFN is not constructive anymore - no, not when a member logs on and sees 10 new and separate threads in the Politics section all from Shaman and Truthout and all about how Bush/Cheney is screwing our country.

We all log on here for info and debate, however, you guys making multiple posts for each article you dig up on the internet is not so efficient. Why not have one thread called something like "Bush/Cheney are Assholes" or "Bush/Cheney are screwing this country" and then put ALL your anti-B/C info, opinions, articles, etc. in there?

Just a suggestion. As you know I am on your side with the Bush hatin', but c'mon guys!!

Shaman, truthout, and others associated: If you'd just agree to play nice and put your shit in one thread, we mods won't have to take action and you can still post new threads when it is reasonable and beneficial to do so. The main complaint is that there are too many threads on the same subject, to wit, how bad Bush and Cheney are. I am by no means fans of either of them--I was having a discussion with Vilepagan and another guy on Thanksgiving that was pretty much just "Is Bush THE worst President in history, or merely one of the worst?"--but the way you're framing your arguments (repetitive threads) is quite tiresome. Stick it all in one thread and the situation ends and everyone is happy.

In a way, he was.

Those of a conservative mindset comprise the majority in this country, and they are completely and utterly used having that particular set of prejudices and mores and opinions that they subscribe to protected and agreed with and upheld and defered to, at all times.

You must be gentle with them, and never cause them such extreme mental anguish by bombarding them with the truth, or by continually exposing their emporers for their not wearing any clothes. It is very upsetting to them.

Thanks for being so understanding about the 'conservative mindset' of several of our admittedly-liberal forum members who have become similarly tired of the barrage of billboard ads in the politics forum lately.

Still, you are conducting yourselves in an admittedly civil fashion, and thus far haven't resorted to profanity and threats of violence.

NOTE: This new thread is the result of the merging of two separate threads that had the same topic. Hopefully, this will help us to avoid meaningless repetition.

Nappy, if you are going to engage in a war with Mr. Shaman, please keep it civil, sir. No profanity should be necessary.

I don't know what this word "liberal" means. If it means someone who is pro-business, lower-taxes (business taxes), pro-choice, anti-union, free-trade, universal-healthcare, then I guess I'm a liberal (but I don't think thats what it means).

But now getting back to the point. Nowadays, when I log on, I check who the starter of the thread is and most likely if it is Shaman and Truthout I don't even open it anymore or if I do, I don't reply. I guess that's why many of their posts have 0 replies.

I dunno, I was just saying that you're not a conservative Bush lover, and I've definitely seen you take the "liberal" side of arguments a lot. Sorta blows the whole "The conservatives are trying to get rid of Shaman because they don't like his message!" theory out of the water. :)

You're looking for me to refute your "facts". I happen to think Bush is a horrible president. One of the worst, in fact. I agree with you mostly, but your presentation is condescending at best and maniacal at worst. We fucking get it, you are angry at this administration. Guess what, you dont hold the patent on being upset or let down by this administration.

You take this political shit too personal. Ultimately, without the support from the masses (which you will never have with this style), you'll never effect change for this country. You'll just be the shrill voice crying out "The sky is falling, the sky is falling...." wondering why no one is running for cover with you.

smartmouthwoman
11-26-2007, 07:40 AM
I'll be happy to refute Shaman's so-called 'facts' -- George W. Bush will go down in history as the president who kept us safe after 3,000+ innocent American citizens were murdered by terrorists on our own soil. A task no other president in history has been called upon to do and has done so without entering into a full-scale world war. Of course he's not popular right now. Nobody likes sending troops to foreign lands. But mark my words... he'll be considered a hero one day. He'll be remembered as a president who led by doing what he thought was best for the country... not bending to the changing whims of popular opinion. Those who hate him now are the same people whose memories are so short, they've already forgotten about the horror of 9/11. They don't have the mental capacity to keep the hate for Bush alive once we have a new administration to bash. And trust me, no matter who gets elected, they'll bash them as well.

Having said that, I think Nappy's wrong about the best way to handle hate-mongers. Confrontation is exactly what they crave. The most effective method is to totally and completely ignore them. They thrive on attention and the badder they are, the more they get.

So, anyone who really wants to shut them up should totally ignore them; don't even read their posts, much less reply, and eventually, they'll find someplace else to play. Everytime you post back to them, consider yourself feeding the sickness.

That's my $.02. And the last time I plan to post on a thread with Shaman or Truthout's name attached.

Hey!

I've got it!

Why don't you --and the Rightwing contingent whose feeling are being hurt so terribly-- just keep doing exactly that you have BEEN doing; refuse to debate, in any way, whatever issue is being brought up, but be sure to make several posts to the thread complaining about the fact that they dared to raise the issue in the first place.

Those who hate (B*sh) now are the same people whose memories are so short, they've already forgotten about the horror of 9/11.

I'd say it's pretty much the exact opposite.

The Rightwingers, B*sh and Ch*ney and their entire gang.........all the dedicated PNAC types.......desperately wanted just such an attack to occur. So much so that they took the time to write a paper about it. (Not that a mere paper signed by these people would ever be considered proof to a willfully blind rightwing supporter)

And they finally got their wish; the 9/11 attacks. The ""New Pearl Harbor"" that they so desperately craved.

And they were --and continue to be, due to the massive war profits it has generated for them, just as they knew it would-- very happy and satisfied about it.

Because it's not working FT. I know you're entirely too out of step with reality to realize this, but shaman, and truthout have absolutely no personality, like you didn't once upon a time.

I find that to be a very childish remark.

You have no substantive complaint that you can bring against them, so you resort to --- "they have no personality".

How laughable.

They're going to keep acting like jackasses until they've turned the whole damn section into a huge cheerleading team.

Excuse me, but didn't you just say a short while ago that they have virtually no one on their side, or something to that effect??

Now you're saying they are going to turn the entire section into ""a huge cheerleading team"". Seems you're contradicting youself.

Since when do you start preaching forced ignorance as a solution to a problem?

I see only one type of **forced ignorance** here, Napster.

The forced and/or willful ignorance of those who post such commentary as (paraphrasing) --

""George B*sh will be considered a hero one day.....the way we should handle those who do not like George B*sh is to totally and completely ignore them......I am never going to post on a thread with Shaman or Truthout's name attached.""

It's like a five year old holding a tea party and getting mad and making everyone leave because she didn't like the way that were holding their cups.

IOW, it's infantile.

Napsterbater
11-26-2007, 08:40 AM
Of course you find it childish, FT, you barely have any personality yourself. You and all the other broken records should just get into a room together! Then you can harmonize all your dissent together and bring the roofs down!

And by huge cheerleading team, I meant the six or so of you who post sixteen times in the same thread to each other trying to look like a lot more.

And I'm not surprised you only see one type of forced ignorance. You've mostly only conditioned yourself to see one type. There's more to politics than irrational or otherwise hatred of the extreme rightwing cabal running shit. Some of us would like to discuss them, but they feel they can't. But they don't have the guts to do something about it, so the task gets put onto me.

Really?? What is it that you have been discussing?

I haven't seen you discussing anything lately.

Just endless whining in any and all threads that Shaman or truthout start, and puerile admonitions to --"GTFO Shaman!!".

You seem to have developed some sort of --"Oh well, if you mods won't handle his, stand back and let this big strong maayuuun handle it!!"" -- fixation.

Said "big strong man" being yourself, of course.

Maybe you have inferiority issues. I dont know. But you seem to be projecting.

I dunno, I was just saying that you're not a conservative Bush lover, and I've definitely seen you take the "liberal" side of arguments a lot. Sorta blows the whole "The conservatives are trying to get rid of Shaman because they don't like his message!" theory out of the water. :)

Oh, I forgot, I'm also against amnesty for illegal immigrants and against religion in government.

Yeah both sides have extremes that make their party look bad to the other. Libs have Michael Moore and the likes of Shaman, etc. Conservatives have the likes of Rush, Hannity, etc. My wishful thinking is that people are more centered and they like and dislike different facets of both parties.

You take this political shit too personal. Ultimately, without the support from the masses (which you will never have with this style), you'll never effect change for this country.
So, that's the best-excuse people will use, for their inaction....that they don't care for The Messenger's style?

Don't you think that's a weak-argument....for doing nothing?

I discuss things all the time. I post threads from time to time about things actually worth discussing. I posted one just now, as a matter of fact. But I already know what you're going to post in that thread. I didn't post it for you. I posted it for the folks on AFN who have the brainpower to comprehend that not everything is about your own puerile quest to make everybody on AllForums hate and detest President Bush and throw monkey shit at people who don't share your delusions. The rest of the boards is tired of this sort of spamming. Take your head-in-the-sand monologues and shove it.

I don't always agree with you OP, but we can always count on you for civil and intelligent debate, and I'm saddened by yet another great poster leaving the politics section. :(

It has been my experience that OldPhart jumps in with the personal attacks just as readily as anyone else.

Civil debate is not something I have come to expect from him.

If he wants to leave because the country, and thus the board, is swinging to the left, then let him leave.

It is his loss.

STFU Nappy. You are no better a poster than Shaman.

I had you on ignore for months (and didn't miss out on anything) becase 99% of your posts were usless garbage and personal attacks.

You are starting to get back to that same trend.

It is his loss. Thanks for that laugh drama. That is funny. THis country is hardly "swinging to the left". Sorry to burst your bubble. Just because the majority now believe this president is doing a horrible job doesnt make your liberal opinions the majority now. It just means bush is a bad president. Naps, I sympathize with you - I really do, but with that said - these assclowns aren't even worth your time. You lean to the left, and I lean to the right, but yet we're capable of debating most issues because we actually care about human psychology and other perspectives. These fools are parrots of the EXTREME left who rely on truthout.org (surprise, surprise - hell, one of 'em couldn't come up with their own moniker here), democraticunderground.com, and freerepublic.com to formulate their opinions on things - nothing more, nothing less - hence, do us all a favor, and don't feed 'em any crackers; just take personal shots at their expense, and make us laugh when you do it. Hopefully, they'll get board here, and start spaming another forum sometime soon. Shaman went on a damn near two-year hiatus before, so ya never know - we might get lucky again....
