What the Hell.....let's do this.....see where it goes.

*

I'm presently watchin' Bill Clinton (on C-SPAN). He's just awarded various orgs for donations to the Clinton Global Initiative (http://www.clintonglobalinitiative.org/NETCOMMUNITY/Page.aspx?&pid=387&srcid=346&gclid=CLyBhoL_-I8CFQgZHgodYRb9FA)......after which a presentation, dealing-with "..providing education in conflict and post-conflict areas such as Darfur, Afghanistan, and Liberia..." will procede.

I always thought it'd be pretty hip to have Bill as Sec. Of State.....but, that's not an option. That's more-than-likely goin' to Bill Richardson, anyhow.

ANYhow....I'm thinkin'.....with Hill, her Cabinet....and her "mentor"....(finally) dealing-with National-issues, and arranging to (logically) deal with International-issues.....Bill Clinton's ALREADY "on-the-ground" (overseas)....and, his efforts aren't costing taxpayers a goddamned-THING (http://www.clintonglobalinitiative.org/NETCOMMUNITY/Page.aspx?&pid=1531&srcid=1367)!!!

Shit.....between treating (other) countries with Respect.....and, (actually) showing the World what REAL compassion looks like.....and, how we HAVEN'T forgotten what made this country Legendary.....this War-Against-Terrorism will (soon) be remembered as one more Bush-debacle.

*

I'm sure there are (at least) a couple people who'd like to expand on my premise! :corn:

"Wall Street is betting on a recession.

Investors in stocks and bonds are paying prices that indicate they believe a snowballing housing crisis and worsening credit crunch will soon tip the U.S. economy into a recession, analysts said.

Stocks are now down more than 10 percent from their peak in October. The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index fell 2.3 percent yesterday, dropping the market to a level that Wall Street analysts say reflects an expectation that corporate profits will fall.

Taken together, those and other data indicate that financial markets have a decidedly negative prognosis for the economy. "They're saying the odds of a recession are pretty damn high," said Diane Swonk, chief economist at Mesirow Financial.

Other events yesterday showed how widely worry has spread."

It's been a looooooooooooooooong time, since people last heard "....another record budget surplus (http://archives.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/09/27/clinton.surplus/index.html)....".

(The photo-shopped image of Billary, not the two nymphs peeling off their bikinis in the swimming pool.)

Shaman,
I'm glad to see that you have the Clintons for your heroes.
Hero worship is a powerful thing.

One of my heroes has always been Clint Eastwood.
Actor, director, composer, and screenwriter, he has always made his own way & has never been afraid to buck the system.

A chronic and compulsive womanizer, Clint managed to maintain his popularity with his audience, even though his personal life was frequently a disaster. (Eastwood, who has been married twice, has five daughters and two sons by five different women.)

Shaman, it would appear that you and I have a lot in common.
We both admire and respect men who, though very charismatic and successful otherwise, absolutely could not keep their dick in their pants.

Gotta give it to Bill Clinton though. For all his philandering and f#@king around, he never fathered but the one child, and that one by his ‘wife’. Kudo’s to him in that regard.

Is panic setting in after the success of the Oprah & Obama show??

Under the Clinton Microscope
By Jeff Zeleny

DES MOINES – Presidential campaigns have unlimited appetites for information about their rivals. They track their whereabouts, they study their records and they obsessively follow nearly every movement. By this point in the race, though, it would seem a candidate’s work history would have already been sufficiently combed through.

Apparently not.

If there was any question whether Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign was concerned about the rise of Senator Barack Obama, here is a fresh example: A deputy campaign manager for Mrs. Clinton sent an e-mail yesterday, trying to find out about Mr. Obama’s background as a community organizer in Chicago.

The deputy campaign manager is Bob Nash, who served as White House personnel director in the Clinton administration. In March, Mr. Nash left his position as vice chairman of Chicago ShoreBank to join Mrs. Clinton’s campaign.

Here is the text of his e-mail, with the addresses redacted:

Mr. Nash, 59, did not respond to an e-mail request seeking comment. A campaign official said he was unaware of the matter, but would look into it.

Bill Clinton Calls Hillary a ‘Change Agent’
By Patrick Healy

AMES, Iowa – Bill Clinton just finished the first of seven campaign events in Iowa today and tomorrow for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, and he’s using a phrase that voters are probably going to hear a lot this week: “Change agent.”

As in, Mrs. Clinton is a change agent. Even during the years when she did not hold public office, but was rather a lawyer, first lady of Arkansas and then first lady of the United States, she was an agent for change, Mr. Clinton said several times to his audience at Iowa State University here.
He cited Mrs. Clinton’s effort in the 1980s to expand and modernize public school curricula in Arkansas – where, when she started, many students had no access to advanced math, chemistry, physics, or foreign language classes, he said.

Mr. Clinton said that, early on in their relationship, he told Hillary that she should “dump” him and take a job at a big law firm and run for public office, because those were perches more often held by change-makers.

“And she laughed at me and said, first ‘I love you, and second, I’m never going to run for anything because I’m too hard-headed,’” Mr. Clinton said.

Barack Obama and John Edwards, Mrs. Clinton’s two main rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination, are both running as outsiders/agents of change, of course, while the Clintons have been arguing that “change is just a word without the strength and experience to make it happen,” as Mrs. Clinton says at most campaign events.

Mr. Clinton also talked about the “confidence and loyalty and devotion” that Mrs. Clinton inspires in people who know her, and he told an amusing, self-deprecating story about when she moved to Arkansas in the 1970s to start their life together – a tale meant, in part, to take aim at Mrs. Clinton’s image as the calculating spouse who saw Mr. Clinton’s ambitions as a springboard for her own.

“When she came down there and we got married, I was a defeated candidate for Congress, with a $26,000 salary and a $42,000 campaign debt. Now if she were half as calculating as somebody says, that’s a really great way to run for president someday,” Mr. Clinton said. “I mean, I’ll go to a state I’ve barely seen and marry some failed politician with a $26,000 salary and $42,000 debt.”

Update | 6 p.m. Danny Diaz, RNC spokesperson, reponded to Mr. Clinton’s remarks: “Senator Clinton would change a number of things if elected. She would change the tax rate in a way that would punish families and businesses, she would change health care in a way that would grow government and take power away from patients, and she would change our posture in the War on Terror from one of offense to one of defense. The American people don’t want the kind of change Senator Clinton would bring about.”

Update | 6:20 p.m. At his next stop, Mr. Clinton’s description of Hillary Rodham Clinton as a “change agent” has morphed slightly into “agent of positive change.”

Includes Video of Slick Willie's speech. (http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/12/10/bill-clinton-calls-hillary-a-change-agent/)

"As part of the Clinton strategy, the former president is playing an increasingly prominent public role as an advocate for his wife. He appears to have overcome concerns within the campaign over how closely she should associate her candidacy with his time in office and over whether his appearances could draw attention away from her.

Both Clintons are making the case that theirs was a co-presidency (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/21/AR2007122102588.html?hpid%3Dtopnews&sub=AR) -- an echo of Bill Clinton's controversial statement during the 1992 campaign that voters would get "two for the price of one" if they elected him.

Campaigning here on Friday, Hillary Clinton recalled that voters complained back then about lacking health care, fearing unemployment and facing home foreclosures (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_1980s_recession). "And we listened and we acted and we had the best economy that our country has seen in a generation. And now I'm back in New Hampshire" hearing many of the same complaints, she said."

"This clandestine relationship evolved from China’s agreement to supply sophisticated weapons to the Nicaraguan contras beginning in 1984, a deal with the White House that entrusted China with one of the U.S. government’s most sensitive intelligence secrets, the existence of Oliver North’s contra supply network.

In the years after that secretly brokered deal, the Republican administration permitted trips in which U.S. nuclear scientists, including physicist Wen Ho Lee, visited China in scientific exchange programs. Those visits corresponded with China’s rapid development of sophisticated nuclear weapons, culminating in the apparent compromise of sensitive U.S. nuclear secrets by 1988.

Seven years later, in 1995, a purported Chinese defector walked into U.S. government offices in Taiwan and turned over a document. Dated 1988, the document contained detailed information about U.S.-designed nuclear warheads.

The document showed that Chinese intelligence possessed the secrets of the W-88 miniaturized nuclear bomb by the last year of Ronald Reagan’s presidency. China’s first test of a light warhead similar to the W-88 was conducted in 1992, the last year of George H.W. Bush’s presidency."

*

"Therefore, the W-88 secret was lost – and acted upon – before Bill Clinton and Al Gore took office. Indeed, the only significant part of this nuclear-secrets case that happened during the Clinton-Gore administration was that a Chinese defector exposed the espionage breach in 1995 (http://baltimorechronicle.com/2007/111407Parry.html)."

Nothing even remotely expandable. Those in the know, already are keenly
aware that Clinton was universally reviled by our Military Men & Women.
Not because he was a Rhodes Draft dodger, but more akin to a

Let Bubba Boy Traipse around Kissin other Euro's and makin easy cash

Clinton has the mitigated gal to insist that Saddam's Iraq { '98 }

BILL CLINTON AND GEORGE BUSH are the two most corrupt individuals to have occupied the White House in modern times. While Bush has clearly proved more venal and deadly and far more destructive of the American republic, it is a fair reading of history to say that Clinton was the warm up band for George Bush, towit:

"In the CBS News/New York Times national poll, 94 percent of respondents said they were ready to vote for a black candidate for president. But when asked if “most people” they knew were ready to make the same choice, only 71 percent said yes.

When asked if the whole country was ready to elect a black president, just 54 percent said yes. By contrast, 65 percent said the country was ready to elect a woman president.

There is no reliable way to tell exactly what role race has played in the voting decision of older Americans. Older voters might also be expected to place a higher premium on experience. Whatever the reasons, the pattern of voting behavior so far is clear.

It is a pattern that could be a key to making Hillary Clinton the first female presidential nominee in American history (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/01/19/politics/main3732068.shtml?source=RSSattr=Politics_3732068) ."

AN ANALYSIS WORTH READING :
by Dick Morris, former political adviser to President Bill Clinton

If you happen to see the Bill Clinton five minute TV ad for Hillary in which he introduces the commercial by saying that he wants to share some things we may not know about Hillary's background . . . beware . . As I was there for most of their presidency and know them better than just about anyone, I offer a few corrections;

Bill says: "In law school Hillary worked on legal services for the poor."
The facts are: Hillary's main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal agent. She went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for appeal.

Bill says: "Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children's rights project for poor kids."
The facts are: Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him.

Bill says: "Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned down all the lucrative job offers."
The facts are: She flunked the DC bar exam, yes, flunked, it is a matter of record, and only passed the Arkansas bar. She had no job offers in Arkansas, none, and only got hired by the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there. She did not join the prestigious Rose law firm until Bill became Arkansas Attorney General and was made a partner only after he was elected Arkansas Governor.

Bill says: "President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services Board of Directors and she became its chairman."
The facts are: The appointment was in exchange for Bill's support for Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary then became chairman in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter's choice to be chairman.

Bill says: "She served on the board of the Arkansas Children's Hospital."
The facts are: Yes she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Wal-mart board of directors, for a substantial fee. She was silent about their labor and health care practices.

Bill says: "Hillary didn't succeed at getting health care for all Americans in 1994 but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance."
The facts are: Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP. It was included in the budget deal between Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott. I know; I helped to negotiate the deal. The money came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals' tobacco settlement. Hillary had nothing to do with either source of funds.

Bill says: "Hillary was the face of America all over the world."
The facts are: Her visits were part of a program to get her out of town so that Bill would not appear weak by feeding stories that Hillary was running the White House. Her visits abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic and there was no substantive diplomacy on any of them.

Bill says: "Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for children's and women's issues."
The facts are: Other than totally meaningless legislation like changing the names on courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four substantive pieces of legislation. One set up a national park in Puerto Rico . A second provided respite care for family members helping their relatives through Alzheimer's or other conditions. And two were routine bills to aid 911 victims and responders which were sponsored by the entire NY delegation. Presently she is trying to have the US memorialize the Woodstock fiasco of 40 years ago.

Here is what bothers me more than anything else about Hillary Clinton. She has done everything possible to weaken the President and our country (that's you and me!) when it comes to the war on terror.

1. She wants to close GITMO and move the combatants to the USA where they would have access to our legal system.
2. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of suspected Al Qaeda phone calls to/from the USA .
3. She wants to grant constitutional rights to enemy combatants captured on the battlefield.
4. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of money transfers between suspected Al Qaeda cells and supporters in the USA .
5. She wants to eliminate the type of interrogation tactics used by the military & CIA where coercion might be used when questioning known terrorists even though such tactics might save American lives.

One cannot think of a single bill Hillary has introduced or a single comment she has made that would tend to strengthen our country in the War on Terror. But, one can think of a lot of comments she has made that weaken our country and makes it a more dangerous situation for all of us.

Bottom line: She goes hand in hand with the ACLU on far too many issues where common sense is abandoned.

Those in the know, already are keenly
aware the Clinton was universally reviled by our Military Men & Women.Tough tooties - even if it was true. Their job is to serve the CIC without question. If they don't like it then they don't have to re-up and they can get a job in the private sector.

"Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton maintains a solid lead in her party's presidential race among Democratic voters nationwide (http://www.clintonglobalinitiative.org/NETCOMMUNITY/Page.aspx?&pid=387&srcid=346&gclid=CLyBhoL_-I8CFQgZHgodYRb9FA), despite a surge in support since late last year for Sen. Barack Obama, a Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll has found.

Former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina drew the support of 11% of Democratic respondents. When asked for whom they would vote if their first choice dropped out, slightly more Edwards voters leaned toward Clinton than toward Obama, the poll found.

Most Clinton voters said they would like to see their candidate choose Obama as her running mate. Most Obama voters said they would like to see him choose Clinton for the second spot."
