I can’t get over the cock-eyed reporting I am seeing on television these days.
Recently Britney Spears, a singer of some sort, has been the subject of nearly daily coverage on CNN’s ‘Headline News’.
I have seen images of photographers massing around this young woman taking her picture and shouting questions and other things at her.
This is normally followed by an interview by some well dressed man or woman wearing heavy makeup with one of the creepy photographers.
They are apparently happy with what they consider their work.
What I am seeing, however, is something completely different, I am sure, than what they think they are showing me.
I am seeing a bunch of maniacs harassing a young, American mother.
Anyone seeing this badgering without outrage at the invasion of her life is off their rocker.
In the meantime news coverage of the war in Iraq and our lousy government officials is missing.
It’s cheaper for these multi-BILLION dollar news agencies to pay some drugged up guy with a camera to chase celebrities than it is to ferret out the information that we need to ensure our own liberty and freedom is not taken from us by greedy politicians and lying businessmen and bankers.
The politicians hold the licenses for the news agencies and the businessmen and bankers pay their salaries – so…we don’t get what we are supposed to get.
Why should you stand by while they grind an American mother into an early grave? Are you that bored?

You're right. Why would CNN waste valuable air-time on a typical American mother? But then, no-one has ever considered Britney Spears a typical American woman.

Then in that case there is a good possibility he has no idea what cranston was saying in the first place, right?

Back on topic. There has been a major shift in supposed news sources to infuse celebrity "news" as actual news.
I dont give two shits what britney is up to. I dont care who pam anderson is dating this week. But turn on a tv set and it's all see on most channels.

Craston,
This is the second time you haven't known what you are posting about. Are you going to try for three?
Koutaka was right on target with his post. Our lives aren't about only such things as politics. More mundaned and sometimes more silly things are also part of our lives, Britney Spears for example.
It seems Koutaka has a deeper insight into the truth of the matter than you do.

It's all about the $$$$, Cranston. I heard this morning that photogs get up to $4,000 for a picture of Brit, Paris or Lindsay. Since all 3 of those so-called celebs chose to put themselves in the public eye, they're fair game.
ROFLMAO @ poor lil American mom Britney. You do know she lost custody of her kids, don't you? Not exactly a poster-mom who should be protected from the mean ole press.

sedan, let me be as clear about this as possible - you used foul language. Your position and that of Kookaka has no merit.
I am not interested in non-facts. Kookaka would do better learning to read from 'The Globe' or 'The Los Angeles Times' and taking one of the many free english courses offered throughout the United States.
This thread is about Trash Media and your post fits that very nicely. Though we are not being paid to put information here this is a worthwhile or potentially worthwhile means to communicate. You have taken the opportunity to speak off topic for what reason?
Are you lonely? If so - you have acted like a down-on-their luck celebrity who calls the media and gives them a story to get attention.
Are you outraged? If so - you have acted like a person who draws attention to themselves by being righteous - like a television preacher.
My point being that rather than using this venue as a social path you are using it as a selfish path. With your two sentences you have given the impression that :
1. You know Kookaka personally
2. You are sympathetic to his wanting to learn english
3. You are aggressive and don't have too many facts related to the issue at hand
During the next news broadcasts you see - with a special eye on CNN's 'Headline News' when they are talking about celebrities - ask yourself what the things they are talking about actually have to do with your life. You can pretend that they do have an impact and from that viewpoint consider the level of coverage you are receiving for the information that is being provided to you.
I dare you to try it.
Don't use foul language to me again - I will stop responding to you and report you and eventually you will be ejected from the board.:drive:

Geesh, get a friggin grip, Crannie. This ain't rocket science you're talking about here... it's CELEBRITIES. You know, those people who earn MILLIONS of dollars standing in front of cameras and shaking their booty (or something similarly insane) and calling it entertainment? Are you entertained by American women being harassed to death - you know - like beaten and abused or are you pretending that it is not happening around you and that you are being treated like a brain-numb individual who will let anyone show you anything while getting paid billions of dollars to do it?
You do realize that these media outlets pay billions of dollars to the American government for PRIVILEGE of showing you material. They have certain responsibilities - like they have to tell the truth and talk about things that need talking about. The way they are acting lately is providing reporting like the things you write - consider this - the topic is the media attacking a woman. You are talking about my interaction with an abusive individual who made a personal attack on me.
You have played the part of CNN's 'Headline News at Noon'. You haven't addressed the issue and you are treating me as if your conversation with me and another individual were as important to me as the issue at hand.
You don't seem to be a thoughtless individual and so I don't understand your lack of conviction and what is commonly referred to as a pedestrian attitude. Do me the kindness, however, of not explaining yourself because that is my point. I don't want you to explain yourself - or anyone else for that matter. If you are going to write then address the item at hand.
You see - if you ignore this post or are hostile to it as you seem to be then you are counted as one of those folks I was writing about. That puts you squarely on the other side of the room of the folks that you seem to be projecting as having an affinity for.
I might be going over your head but that beats going under the table and cheating doesn't it?

kind of LF,she grew up on the Mickey Mouse Club and he mother pushed her into this. She wasn't ready for any of this at all. She doesn't deserve her every move recorded for "the fans" but every stupid thing she does makes people want to know what she's going to do next.
Flashing her uncovered privates in front of cameras, shaving her head, driving with her baby in her lap while being chased by photographers, the list goes on.
I hope she gets herself together for those 2 boys though, they need and deserve their mother.

At any rate, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool skeptic. Any time someone pleads with me to try to get me to show conviction for some random cause, I immediately start questioning motives. I have a finite amount of time and attention and I believe in an efficient market, that is, most problems eventually solve themselves.

I kinda DON'T agree. There's a price to be paid if you choose to be a celebrity and make millions off of putting yourself in the public eye. You might go berserk at all the media attention, LF, but I guarantee you'd be crying all the way to the bank, turn around and come back for more. After all, it's not like they don't know what comes with stardom. Celebs have been hounded by the press since Clara Booth made her first silent movie.

Plenty of celebrities keep out of the public eye. If she didn't live in the middle of Los Angeles she wouldn't be hounded as much. Also, it's very hard to feel sorry for Britney since we've heard numerous reports of her actually calling the paparazzi and telling them where she would be so they could get their little photo op.

You're absolutely right, DF. Plenty of stars also live in the middle of LA and don't have the same problems she has.
I agree that it's a shame she's having such a hard time dealing with her 'success'. If it's really privacy she wants, she could just stay home and take care of her children (if and when she ever gets them back) and stop hitting the party scene like she's footloose and fancy free. You make some excellent points.
This is what we get when the media serves corporate profits above everything else.
It stops serving the public good because it is too busy serving the pockets of its shareholders. It is cheaper to send a papparatzi to harass Britney Spears than it is to send foreign correspondents to other countries or to do actual investigative journalism that might endanger their "access" to the people in power that they would be investigating. That might cut into their profits, so the don't do it anymore.
