Science needs some luvin.

Thats a link that explains a few new things discovered about the human genome.

Here is my favorite quote from the article.
"We're starting to uncover the treasure in this junk," Wang said.

Interesting...

Ever read the Dean Koontz novel, FEAR NOTHING?

It was written in the late 90's, but I just picked it up at a book sale recently and couldn't put it down!

Basically the storyline follows the article you linked to. Woman scientist experiments with human genes, in an effort to find a cure for her son's genetic condition of being ultra-sensitive to light. Military gets involved and expands the tests to include swapping human genes with animal genes to produce 'new & improved' humans, dogs, monkeys, etc. Of course, the research goes awry, some people die, and the earth is left with roving bands of altered humans, dogs and monkeys... the latter two having some human traits and intelligence.

VERY scary premise.

The one phrase that keeps running throughout the story... "It's the end of the world, as we know it."

~shudder~

I haven't read that book, but it does sound like a Stephen King book I have read.

Tuck shudders along with SMW.

With a little bit of jockying things around, just a little bit, we can have humanbeings that look like pigs (Sus scrofa) genitically created for body parts. And nobody cares, because they look like a pig. They started to do this with the great apes. But too many folk consider them damn nere human.

Sus scrofa is the next choice and we eat them anyway. Sus scrofa is advertised as being the other white meat. And it turns out that humankind is the other white meat also. It is not much of a jump to genetically create a human that looks like a pig. They are already exploring using pig hearts to replace human hearts in the human body. Sus scrofa is the next closest match to human when you dump humans and the great apes as a source of body parts.

I do have abit of a background with how this can be done. I am not real happy about the direction that some folks want to head things. I would rather that you were just cloned and they destroyed the brain of your clone so that it was not human. And if you are a universal doner, maybe you can make some money off of you clone's body parts.

BorgHunter sir, Mankind has had the ability to manipulate the genes of human and animal twice in the last thousands of years that we have been present on this planet.

The results of this God like ability still lives with us today. The offspring of the "Hands", who live in todays China and the offspring of the "Fae", who are for the most part, "The White Race of Mankind", and are from Northern Europe.

We as a species are about to do this for a third time. Part human and part animal again (it should be noted that the "Hands" were a human Chimpanzee cross and that Chimpanzees are actually human.)

The origional "Fae" were only half human. They were origionally a cross between human and a whole bunch of differents kinds of animals. And they were created for the amusement of their human creators.

When the civilization of their creators went "tits up" these creations eventually settled in Northern Europe. At that time Northern Europe was pretty much free of humans and a quite place to live. To this day we still have legends of their presence. And for the most part their offsping (them and human cross) have, for better or worse control over todays world. Them and the Jews.

And most of the world does not like either one of us. And I expect that that dislike is based on experience.

Anywho :) as a member of humankind, I do not think that we should tempt fate a third time. It is only being done for money and there are bigger things at stake here than money.

LOL... I told you the book was about genes gone wild, eh?

The part that freaked me out the most was when the dog started nodding his agreement with things being said. And shaking his head from side to side when he disagreed. Ever since reading that, I've kept one eye on my dog to make sure she was still the same dumb animal she's always been! So far, so good!

SMW :) that was will said. I study "Tucker58" also relative to that. I think that there are/is a bunch of stuff that we learned from the animals relative to communication.

After all mankind had to learn how to speak :) because his hands were full of his "truck" (Path Gather :) Difficult Carry :) )! Oh my God, "Shit is happening and I can't hand signal you!!"

The internet :) "There would be no internet if we all had to carry our "Truck" (unless you can get a woman to carry things for you!) . Angel :) you have way too much time! How come you are not carring some mans "Truck" :) !

Napster :) why do you carry your own "Truck" :) ?

Genes say women should carry the "Truck!" Oh yah :) and the kids!

The only reason that we have language today, is because women put thier foot down about something! Sheesh!

Love you guys!
