High School Cheerleaders Suspended for Flashing Crowd During Britney Spears Routine
Friday, November 16, 2007
RIPON, Calif. — Six of eight Ripon High School cheerleaders won't get the chance to perform "one more time" after school officials booted them from the football field and suspended them for two days for lifting their skirts during a Britney Spears routine.
Click here to watch a video of the cheerleader's risque routine in the Modesto Bee (http://videos.modbee.com/vmix_hosted_apps/video/1565333).
The girls told the Modesto Bee that they wanted to end the season on a high note, and decided — with parental urging — to end what they called "an awful season" with a provocative cheer routine capped off with a flash of their derrieres and spell out the school's nickname, "Indians."
District Superintendent Leo Zuber told the Bee that he couldn't discuss the issue because of confidentiality requirements on disciplinary matters.
Parents can appeal suspensions, and Zuber acknowledged he has received one. He said he will investigate whether proper procedures were followed and whether suspensions were warranted.

What An unbelievable overreaction by an administrator. Cheerleaders wear the outfits they do because they are not selling only cheers, they are selling sexuality, not blatant sexuality but cute sexuality. If that wasn't the case they would be wearing pants outfits.
Someone needs to go to lighten up classes so he doesn't react like a fool to what was basically just a bit of high school highjinks.

hhmmm.....maybe I need new glasses but I didn't see any actually "mooning" going on. My thinking is that when you moon someone, you bare your butt not just lift a skirt to show a letter sewn into your underpants:rolleyes:

Besides, "mooning cheerleaders" will get more folks to look at the thread. :)

Ours were purple. Our colors were purple, gold and white. I wore the same outfit for 3 years. Then when I was gone...they got new ones.

Cheerleading in high school as devolved to being a sexual object, nothing more. It encourages the thought of women as obects, not people. You can honestly do cheers and perform routines without wearing skimpy skirts. Oh well, it gives all of those insecure girls a club to hang out in. All I'd have to say is that if I had a daughter, I'd be pissed if she wanted to be a cheerleader.

I had a great time when I was one,but seeing what the "sport" has become I am with you Decka,I wouldn't let my daughters be one.
Besides,it's about 200 bucks more expensive to be on the squad these days. I have better things to do with that kind of money

It really depends on where you are from. I'm a small town girl and the sex object thing didn't apply. Now when I switched schools...yes it was just that. And I chose not to be a cheerleader because of what they were. I wasn't into being easy so I knew I probably wouldn't make the squad anyway!
