I havn't had a ton of time to get on here and chat football.. and you guys all know that I was truly treated to a great ride last year in a super bowl victory, and I definitely let you all know about it. We all have "our teams".. and hey if I'm going to be here chirping about the good times, I'll own up and talk about the time's of dire distress.
Would I say the Colts are overly worried? They are worried, but it's not desperation at all. At the moment we sit at 7-2, and are in the midst of a 2 game losing streak... something I havn't seen in awhile. The bad news is all around to see.
- Marvin Harrison has been out with an injury, and seems to be almost back to 100% for the playoffs.
- Dwight Freeney, our highest paid defensive player, OUT FOR THE YEAR.. ouch. That will hurt our pass rush and our vertical pass defense.
- Dallas Clark, hit by a cheap shot, has been out with an injury. He'll be back, but it's not good to break up the rythm he had.
- Rob Morris, one of our better Linebackers OUT FOR THE YEAR
- Booger McFarland, the run-stuffer from Tampa, OUT FOR THE YEAR
- We have 2 rookies playing major minutes at tackle and guard because of injuries
- Peyton Manning, who threw 4 interceptions in the first 8 games this year, throws for 6 interceptions in 1 game vs. the chargers.
- Adam Vinitari.. "mr. clutch".. misses two field goals, including a potential game-winner against the chargers.
So.. with all that in mind... It is disappointing that the injury bug has hit us so hard and we won't be able to reach our true full potential. However, don't count the colts out yet.
- The Colts Defense is still anchored by Bob Sanders and a bunch of "blue-people eaters" up front, such as Rahim Brock, that love to get to the quarterback. The Colts also picked up Simeon Rice to replace Freeney.. he can't replace him, but Rice is no pushover.
- While Manning calls his effort in San Diego "poor quarterback play" and takes responsibility for all the interceptions... we all know he won't stay down. We all know he can perform in the clutch. I have very much confidence that Peyton can take down almost any D in the league.
- Joseph Addai has blossomed as the new "Brian Westbrook"... a versitile, all-purpose back. He is more dangerous than ever.
- Dallas Clark will be back this week
- Marvin Harrison will be back this week or next.
I think if we just get into the playoffs, no team is going to want to play us.
The only thing I am truly worried about is Vinitari.. wtf? That guy better get his shit together. LOL.
