"Reducing taxes doesn’t increase revenue. No serious person believes such nonsense — the argument has even been rejected by Bush’s own council of economic advisors (http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/11/15/the-fox-news-president/)."

The argument that tax cuts increase revenue is like saying your income will go up if you take a pay cut.

No, it's the same argument that says if you reduce your prices, then your profit will increase.
Tax rates/revenue, price/profits, and many other economic curves are non-linear.
In any discussion, regarding these curves, you must first define certain conditions and where you are on the curve.

True. Tax cut CAN increase revenues if they stimulate the consumers and businesses into spending. They can also be a bane to revenues if this ill timed and/or excesssive. The same can be said for tax increases.

What always seems to be "missing" now from talk of revenues from taxes... is that a reduction in spending that will increase revenues without any changes in the taxation amounts.

Now after spending like a teenager with his/her first credit card for over 6 years, borrowing to fund his illegal war against Iraq.... Bush claims, with a smirk, that the Democrats are doing that.

IF this war was really defending our national security there would be some sacrifices at home ... ie war taxes... Instead we are "taxed" at the gas pump because Bush's warmongering has forced the price of crude oil to nearly $100 a barrel!
