View Full Version : The Pyjama Brigade.

There is a 'fashion trend' if you could call it occurring in Ireland for sometime,
which has triggered vigorous debate of late, on TV and Radio.
The Pyjamma Brigade are young women, mostly in inner city areas, who go
about their daily business, wearing their pyjamas.
Any day of the week, I see them walking their kids to school,
denim jacket, hair tied back, cigarettes and ofcourse, pyjamas and slippers.
Dosent matter if its mid Winter or Spring, youll see them.
The real die hards youll see, heading to the shopping centers, still in garb,
then from 2-3pm, picking up the kids, tho most have put clothes on,
theres the odd one still in PJs.
Outsiders stare in shock everytime, tour buses passing, the odd camera flash.
One view from Dublin.

Seriously. No one thinks it's unusual for girls to walk around all day on campus with pajamas on. I've even done it. Hell, I've seen guys in pajamas. There's another guy that I see every morning who never wears shoes...

Its just that it was highlighted recently.

The teen here in Canada have been doing that for a couple years now...I don't get the fascination with it...Wear a comfy pair of sweats and look at least dressed...I mean if you take the time to put clean ones on for school you can put on some sweats or yoga pants.
If they are day old ok that is just nasty..and lazy.
DarkFantasy96
11-15-2007, 01:45 PM
I don't own any sweats or yoga pants... Actually I own one pair of sweatpants, but I only wear them for pajamas. I've worn pajamas to school on days when it was cold in the morning and I wanted to wear a skirt or shorts when it got warm later, and on days I was sick or very sleep deprived. They're just comfortable.

Well sometimes when I lay in bed all night unable to sleep, and still have to get up at 5 am to go to school in the morning, I prefer not to wear jeans, which are less comfortable than a nice pair of sweats... It's not as if college campuses have a formal dress code. I think sweatpants/lounge pants are perfectly acceptable. I don't like yoga pants because they're tight and tend to be a perfect opportunity for pantie lines to stick out... The comfort factor is definitely negated if I have to wear a thong.
That said, I've only worn pajama pants to school twice - once when I was sick (and surely no one sees anything wrong with that), and once I just wore them to my first class so I could change into a skirt after, when the sun was actually up and it was a bit warmer out. I didn't want to get a pair of jeans dirty just to wear them for 3 hours in the morning, since I don't have that many pairs.

Maybe it's just me or maybe it's the part of the country where I live...but I cannot stand to stay in my pj's all damn day. If I wanna be comfortable, I'll wear shorts and a tank top.
Hell...I don't even think I own a pair of pj's, now that I think about it

Not to mention like Ty I don't think I really own a pair of pj bottoms come to think of it.
and well what I do wear can't be worn out in public...mike might have a coronary.
for me joggers and yoga pants fit for when I want to just kick back and be comfy..

Usually choose the cheapest one. Sometimes I'm also lucky and the parcel is not stopped by customs and I don't have to pay the taxes, making it fairly cheap.
Shopping on the internet is always a chance to take as returning is not always easy...

State income tax is 9.7% I think, and local income tax is 28%, but the local tax is after all tax deductions have been applied. Those are the lowest rates tho, at higher income they increase.

Wow... I buy all my underwear from like Wal-Mart or J.C. Penny. And they are not tiny little pieces of silk with itchy lace all over either. ::Cringe::

Aww, Thank you for missing me. :bighug:
I've been busy with the holidays fast approaching, also I've bought a new house and have been doing minor upgrades in it. I don't get as much free time as I would like to, to post.

O.o a new house :)
Decided how you wanna have it looking?
When I got my last apartment I had quite a few shopping trips with my friends. Mostly Ikea but also a few other places within my budget.
Edit: Victoria's Secret is not that bad price wise, would double by the time I got it tho. Those shoes are nice tho.

I think Victoria's Secret is WAY too expensive... I pay like $5 max per pair of underwear and $10-15 max for bras... And that is definitely a maximum price. :p

Yes, a new home. :D
I'm so happy to finally own my own house for my son and I. I used to live in a condo but it was over-rated.:@@:
I've been busy painting and wallpapering, and all that great stuff.
PS.. It's too bad about the cost you would pay because of the taxes. :(
