Exactly... "It's icy out! Should I go slower? Nahhh, I'll be fine..."... SCREECH, CRUNCH! :p
Well if it's too bad then I assume my mom won't be coming to get me.

Crappy, rainy, sloppy, rather chilly - 43F - a day to stay inside.
All I ever hear about is the crummy weather all of you are having.
You make me feel so fortunate to be here and not there.
Keep that attitude, even while you fall into the ocean, a'ight sunshine? ;)

Thanks for the congrats, Imp. I certainly had to kiss a few frogs (no offense, Frogger) before I sat still long enough for my prince to find me! But, then, I've always had to learn my lessons the most difficult way.
It's just rainy, cold and messy here. I know that spring is just around the corner.

Guess I spoke too soon
Last night on the way home from work it rained a little. I actually had to pull over and put on my rain gear. Theres a first time for everything.
Was still raining this morning, and I said screw the rain gear, I'm a stud. The freeway was stopped dead because of an overturned SUV, so I got to practice my low speed wet weather manuevers. Made it through the mile of backup in less than 5 minutes. I also brought dry clothes so I could change when I got to work
NWS alert says we're getting 18-20 foot surf on sunday. I know where I'm gonna be

Kinda the opposite happens around here. When it gets under 50 degrees, everybody dresses like they're hiking across the frozen tundra. Coats, scarfs, hats, gloves, etc. As a downtown worker/commuter train rider, I learned my lesson the hard way, too, and also tend to overdress when it's cold. Much easier to take stuff off than get warm by shivering one's butt off while waiting for the train!
~brrrrrrr~
(Downside of that of course is dealing w/one's coat on the way to the station in the afternoon... like today, when it's now 73 degrees outside)

Speaking of that, this library where I "work", lol, has spent almost 2 million dollars of the taxpayers' hard-earned money on various cooling and heating systems for this (very large) building.
It is STILL freezing in the winter, hot in the summer.
Last summer, we like to die in the heat, but at least it served to keep people OUT--you know, the idiots who actually expect me to look things up for them.

Yeah, they probably keep it cold in there to cool down all those juvies who hang around the computers to sneak peeks at porn when you ain't lookin!
Speaking of that... do y'all have filters or any other type of controls on your public PCs? Big uproar about that subject here not long ago. They ended up with some program that will notify the librarian if anyone accesses a porn site and it's up to HER (or HIM as the case may be) to go put a stop to it!
Needless to say, the library employees are THRILLED with that decision.

At my school, they keep it hot as hell during the winter and freezing in the summer. So basically, in January you have to take off about 10 layers when you get inside, and in June you have to bring extra clothes to wear inside...
rendova
02-28-2008, 03:09 PM
We do have filters up on our computers, Smarty, due to the Childen's Neighborhood and Internet Protection Act, or whatever it's called. We really don't have that much problem with people looking at porn because of that, or even before that--at least where I work, which is Indiana History slash genealogy.
The computer lab, I've heard, is a different story. They have to be pretty strict with the people in there--there's no gaming, IMs, and kids have to be accompanied by an adult due to library policy. Some of the employees have been yelled at and threatened by irate patrons. I'm glad my Dept doesn't have to put up with that--it's pretty quiet back here (more nap time for ME) and we have serious researchers, thank goodness.

I just don't understand this. This must be the new fashion statement among the brain-challenged. You should see my 2 sons still at home. They were going to walk out of the house when it was below zero wearing shorts and t-shirts! They told me "no one" wears coats anymore.

Don't tell anyone, kimi, but I always had a secret crush on Orville.
Was it those sexy horn-rimmed glasses, or that buck-toothed smile?
Or, just his devil -may- care , bad boy attitude, like he didn't care if you liked his popcorn or not, or used it to de-ice your sidewalk.
ANYHOO, he just does something to me.....
YOWZAH!!

Hey, Rendova, I once spent eleven minutes studying Indiana history. Of course with that much time I was able to reread most of the articles two or three times.

I wouldn't say Rendova never changes but she doesn't change very often. She doesn't shower very often either.
Another freezing cold day, temps in the mid-70s.
