Snow, ice....dammit!
Supposed to close on our house this afternoon, and people tend to close up shop when it gets like this here. I told hubby we would just go pick everybody up that's supposed to be there and carry them to the title company.

Over here :)
Thursday: High winds gusting to 70mph. 36f feels like -8f.
Severe weather warning posted for Thursday and Friday.
Snow forcast for Friday-will keep you informed. :(
OK, Paul.. now I'll feel sorry for YOU!
Damn this wind. Plays havoc with a gal's curls! Expected to reach about 40 mph this afternoon and around 40 degrees making for a wind chill of about 22. Wonder if the wind is due to too much global HOT AIR blowing around? It is election year, you know?
Stay grounded, my friend! And resist that temptation to wear a kilt today.

Not really, Ride honey. But your response made me curious so I looked it up. Get ready for Kilts 101.
We all know the Scottish wear kilts, but do the Irish? It's a good question. The answer is yes they do wear kilts, although perhaps not as famously. The English wear kilts too and if you ask a Scott, Irishman, and an Englishman where kilts came from, you'd get three different answers. The Irishman will tell you the kilt was an ancient garment that was introduced to the Scottish.
Where is kilt really came from is a bit of a mystery, there is evidence of kilt and kilt like clothing as far back as the 16th century, but no conclusive evidence of its origin. The best guess we have is that the Scottish created the kilt based on Viking pleated garments. The answer to your question is still yes, the Irish have historically worn kilts.

We had some ice this morning, my sister's school was canceled. Up where my brother and mom live they had bad ice storms, school canceled there too. Luckily the roads weren't bad at all south of us so I got to the dentist ok earlier to get my wisdom teeth out. All went well except they knocked off one of my fillings, so I have to go get that redone.

not diabetic, but I have had problems with my blood sugar level dropping really low ever since I had my youngest daughter. Usually it stays near 100 which is good for my body weight according to my dr,but lately it's been dropping to 80 and that's just not good for me. He just does alot of testing every 6 months to keep on top of things. When I went this morning to get more blood taken he said I was over 100 yesterday so I avoided being shoved into the hospital :D

It's 44 degrees and overcast...we survived the 57 tornadoes that touched down in 4 states. The area we live in were passed over by these monsters. We were surrounded but fortunately all we had were high winds and heavy rains. Didn't lose power or phones. The "air raid" sirens blasted for hours..which by the way is very loud if it's a block from you...sheesh. So far there have been 24 deaths in Tennessee. 8 semi's were picked up and thrown all over the highway...one driver lost his life. A couple of semi's were picked up in a warehouse district and thrown into buildings. 20,000 people without power at this moment. My fiance' managed to get out of the area he was working in before all hell broke loose and made it home safely. And after all this we still managed to get to the polls to vote on Super Tuesday! We must be crazy...lol ;)

Terrible day. Cold windy rainy.
Had a terrible thunderstorm last nite. Went to see John Douglas, the FBI crime guy, give a book talk. The storm hit just after the show broke up. Had to walk 4 blocks in hurricane gale winds, dodging tree limbs and lightning, carrying a big umbrella which just made me a bigger target for the lightning.
Got home, the power went out and stayed out all night. Froze to death and power came on just as we were leaving for work and school.
Neighborhood's a mess, lots of people still have no power, real threat of big flooding in lowlying areas around here, along the river.
Still tho, dodged a bullet. Those poor tornado stricken people in the South.... I cannot imagine a worse thing than that. Many never knew what hit them. We are fortunate.
