It was beautiful today, temperatures in the 80's, gentle breezes and calm seas.

In fact it was so nice we called our cousins in Boca Raton and they called their captain and we drove down to Miami to take out their fifty foot Sea Ray and go down to Key Largo for lunch.

Shit! Perfect weather again. It was 70F at 6:30 this morning.
Will this perfect weather never end?

paulc
01-22-2008, 08:49 AM
It will end when the ocean rises another metre-about 3.3 feet.
Youll have to buy a boat then, as FL will be underwater.

Frogger

That's okay. I'm on the third floor. The people on the first and possibly those on the second floor will drown but I'll be okay.

---------------
There are numerous reports of accidents throughout Knoxville and surrounding counties involving multiple vehicles, some including injuries.

Knoxville Police report at least 200 accidents in their service area as of 8:50 am.

Larry Wilder of Rural Metro in Knox County reports "well over 100" motor vehicle accidents in their service area Tuesday morning, as well as many injuries involving pedestrians slipping on icy walkways and sidewalks. Wilder says Henley Street Bridge has been closed to traffic.

In Sevier County, an ambulance transporting a patient overturned in the 8000 block of Chapman Highway.

In Jefferson County, several ambulances were involved in weather-related accidents, and a bus wrecked on the campus of Carson Newman College.

LOL @ Paul. Florida, like most other places people call 'paradise,' is only as nice as one's bank account allows. Believe me, there are plenty of seedy, run-down, crime-infested, backwater-swamp trailer parks in that state, too. They may enjoy the nice weather, but life ain't quite as care-free as our dear Frogger reports from his condo on the beach!

(Ask Nappy what it's like to be broke in a beautiful place like Aruba. He knows first hand it ain't much fun... if his stories were true, that is. He's been known to tell a whopper now and then.)

Come to Texas!!!

Sure, it's 36 degrees and drizzling rain today, but it'll be back up to 75 and sunny by Sunday!! Oh yeah, and while the closest beach is a few hundred miles from me, we don't have any mountains to speak of either.

Hmmmm, now I wonder why the hell I live here.

Oh yeah, it's that State of Mind thing.

YEE HAW!!!!!

I have to agree, Paul. I may not be a world traveler, but I've been to nearly every state in the U.S. and I'd never even consider living anyplace else.

Well, maybe Hawaii. I wouldn't even mind being a beachbum there. Now, THAT'S paradise!!

Man, I'd like to have his job. Met some old hippies there once who bought themselves a parrot and made a living taking pics of him sitting on the shoulders of tourists. (damn bird bit hell outta my daughter!)

Met another guy who'd arrived there from Germany... decided to stay and lived in a cave. Said he got a job washing dishes or something, earned a little money and quit for the next few months until he needed something again. They frown on that kinda stuff there though, so you'd have to stay pretty low on the radar. Otherwise they'd be hollering, 'BOOK HIM, DANO!'

SMW is right, Paul. I don't care where you live, life is much better if you have enough money to keep the wolf from the door.

Nice weather isn't as nice if you are stuck working in a dead end job that you hate and even less than perfect weather is much easier to take if you can play golf, go out to eat, and such.

Whereas the Canaries is where everybody else goes for their winter week.

Yeah, right. it is not quite eleven in the morning and I have taken my morning walk, read the NY Post and the South Florida Sun Sentinel and eaten breakfast. I am sitting on my balcony with the computer listen to XM radio and looking at the ocean. Later Froggette and I will go out to lunch and then down by the pool for awhile.

There are a ton of outdoor art shows and festivals down here. Last week we went to art shows at Boca Raton and Delray Beach. Tomorrow we will be going to the Nautical Flea Market. We have tickets to the Florida Panthers hockey game next Wednesday, tickets to see Wicked down in Fort Lauderdale, tickets for a dinner cruise, and a couple pre-paid restaurant visits.

Between that, playing golf, playing cards with friends, going to the shooting range, fishing and visiting family who live down here we don't have time to be bored.

You can't get into my building without a special passkey, Paul.

Crime is very low on the beach. The further inland you go the greater the amount of crime. It is the same on Long Island where I spend summers. There are parts of both places I wouldn't drive through at night but where I live I feel perfectly safe going for a walk at midnight. Besides, I've got a concealed pistol permit.

Nice one.
Sounds similar to the Costa's, a lot of the complexes down there now have their own security systems, which is added onto the maintenance bill.

Tho in some places gangs still operate, specialising in breaking into holiday homes and clearing them out.

as long as the storm surge doesn't wash out the foundation.

Frogger
01-29-2008, 09:37 PM
It would have to be a really big storm surge. We have a ten foot dune covered with vegetation and a lagoon between the building and the beach and the beach is about 100 feet wide. We have made it through every hurricane since 1969 including Andrew and Wilma, both of which made landfall right near here.

I would be happy to I will put something together soon as I dig out we got nailed by this storm last night all total we have 81/2 feet of snow last night drop-ed about 2 feet now it is clear and 11 degrees, I wish I was sipping coffee in the warm sun looking out over the ocean with a warm breeze blowing upon my toes, but no it is an ocean of white and as much as i wine about it I still like it, I am going snowshoing later today when I am done with my chores, but i will take some photos of my studio and work for all to see. Hey Panzer, how about posting some of your wildlife art. I bet a lot of people would like to see it.

Mid-seventies in the shade with a gentle breeze.

Froggette and I played golf this morning and then went to a restaurant for lunch on the beach. This evening we are going to see the Florida Panthers play the Buffalo Sabers in ice hockey.

Tommorow we will be driving up to Jensen Beach for the day.

I was saying to Froggette over lunch, "It just doesn't get better than this."

I never dreamed as a kid that I would be living this kind of life. I am deeply thankful for my blessings.

P.S. Mid 30's mornings, low 50's afternoon... windy as hell. Big, sunny, blue Texas skies though... that's the good news! ;)

Bless y'alls hearts. I can't even imagine it being that cold for more than a day or two... every 2-3 years! And 8-1/2 FEET of snow??? Some hearty souls, I'd say. STAY WARM!!!

Another beautiful day, sunny, warm and a sea breeze. Today will be even more beautiful because my daughter-in-law called last night to tell us she, our youngest son and our youngest grandaughter are flying in on the spur of the moment this afternoon to spend a long weekend.

Still in the 30's by day, teens by night and not a single good snow yet, what a crappy winter... or a good one depending on your taste. I at least wanted one good foot or so.
