Kindof an interesting story where Iowa decided to make most pumpkins subject to sales tax.

They're making a good call, IMO.

Not what I said.

Is there any purpose to this post other than to be inflammatory?

Gee, this might be one of those feel-good threads somebody wanted.

ITA, Leper. Ever tried to eat a pumpkin? Nasty sh*t.

I prefer mine in a can.

Yeah, it makes sense. Quite the "cash cow" if collected and documented properly. Makes me wonder just how much they'd make if they also decided to tax marijuana rather than throwing folks in jail over it.

Doesn't seem fair to me - to tax the humble pumpkin. Ever had pumpkin seeds ?- you can bake them and they are quite tasty besides being nutritious.

Why do people WANT a tax on weed? it seems like the last thing any weed smoker would want.

Um, because if there were a tax on it... It would have to be legal. And if it were legal, even with a tax (as long as it isn't TOO high), it would probably still be cheaper than it is now. Weed is expensive because of the trouble your local dealer and his supplier have to go through to get it.

Legalize it, package it, tax it. It'll take up less room than beer on the store shelves & produce more profit.

well, I disagree. Inviting the government into something and asking them to take charge of it and tax you (and hoping it is't to high) is crazy. You must be high to wish that upon yourself.

Well, I like pumpkin pie! But I can only take it in diluted and/or limited doses....

I like it, too... in limited doses. In fact, once a year at Thanksgiving is enough for me.

But most pumpkin pies are made from processed pumpkin (read: canned). The real stuff is hard to cook and not have it come out stringy.

Talking about cooking gourds reminds me of the first time I ever cooked squash... and peeled it first! (the peeling IS the squash... otherwise all you've got are seeds!)

Live & learn.

You peeled the squash?? - that IS funny - I can imagine the mess you had on your hands. Making pumpkin pie from a pumpkin is a lot of trouble, I use the big can too - add a few spices though.
