It is a sad situation and the pastor is, in my opinion wrong but you can't sue someone for removing you from a volunteer job.
Mary Lambert does not decide the qualifications for the slot. The pastor does. It might be unfair in some eyes but that is the way it is.
If I was Ms. Lambert I would see what support I could get for removing the pastor. If I understand Baptist heirarchy correctly each congregation is independent of central authority and calls its own ministers. Perhaps it is time for her congregation to call a new one.

A quote taken from the article.
The letter referred to her sex as one of the reasons for her dismissal, quoting the Bible's First Epistle to Timothy, which states: "I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she is to keep silent."
"I was absolutely astonished," Lambert said.
I am curious why they would even let her teach to begin with if they believe woman are not allowed to teach in church. An error they should have found 54 years ago when she first started.

Exactly. It's like they all of a sudden decided to believe in that.
It probably goes much deeper then her being female.

They may have just had a revival of literalism.

It's more likely they got a new minister.
