View Full Version : Tired of CNN.com and their racist op columnist

I regularly visit cnn.com for my news source, but I've just about had it with their website.

Why? Well, primarily because of their front-page opinion pieces being dominated by one writer, some guy named Navarrette. I've stopped reading his op pieces out of principle (I don't want CNN to show hits from me on his articles anymore), but the headlines alone still annoy the hell out of me. Today, his op piece is entitled "Cops shouldn't enforce immigration." Whatever his reasons for why cops shouldn't enforce immigration are, his overall agenda is very clear: promote Latinos either directly or indirectly through his op pieces.

Now, I've nothing against Latinos. But when you make race-based commentary and all of that commentary is positively-directed toward one race, that makes you racist IMO. No, Navarrette doesn't bash other races or anything, he just constantly supports one race....like affirmative action, the positive bias makes him just as racist as if he worked with a negative bias.

Now, I suspect a lot of people would call me racist white guy for reacting this way. But if the op columnist was some white guy who spewed op pieces promoting Caucasians in various sectors of society, I would be annoyed by that as well.

Maybe I'm just tired of whites getting the shaft whenever it comes to a race-based issue. Preferably, everything would be race-neutral, but if you're going to publish racially-biased opinions, it needs to be balanced.

Am I overreacting or does this stuff bother the rest of you people?

I've wondered what CNN was trying to promote when they featured Navarrette. Maybe they just need a "token". I've read his articles a few times & found him to be just shy of white bashing.
