Benazir Bhutto survived a suicide blast on her return to Pakistan, unfortunatly over 100 didnt.

It appears the Ms Bhutto has cut a deal with President Musharrif for her return.

Ms Bhutto has suspicions about sections of Pakistani Military Intell being sympathetic to Muslim extremeists, and has suggested a much.

Pakistan,a key player in the Bush Administration efforts in Afghanistan, must have serious concerns for stbility in Pakistan.

That would explain why they are sheltering Osama Bin Laden and why Pakistan signed a peace treaty with the Taliban.

Amen.

Yes it is sad indeed. Why does this mostly happen in Muslim countries?

Yes it is sad indeed. Why does this mostly happen in Muslim countries?Easier to get in and out and blend with the locals, if outsiders at work. Or, it may just speak to the great rift and tendencies towards a cult of murder-suicide found in many Islamic fringe pools these days.

Yes. I mean we did not see any bomb blasts here when Bush became president (although quite a large number were against it), or Sarkozy in France, or the new guy in Japan. Why in these countries?

And the basis for this analysis rests on.....? In other words i'm looking for your update on events in the tribal territories, the army, the police etc. Try and tie into something coherent.

There is an interesting article by Michael Chossudovsky,Professer of Economics at University of Ottawa:

The Professor claims links between Pakistan Inteligence-Osama bi Laden-Taliban.

Waldo:
How could 9/11-Taliban-alQaeda-Paki Intel,be known 30 years ago?

Tho if your right, maybe the CIA and DIA have questions to answer.

See previous answer. (Are you not counting the 9/11 incidents as bombings?)

I think he was referring to bombings by citizens who didn't like the politician not bombings by outside groups.

Oh, okay. (But I don't think it's been well established who did the bombings yesterday.) Anyway, same answer: culture of murder-suicide.

I could recommend some reading if anyone is interested, but this stuff is dry and accedemic.

You ought to pick up a book called Ghost Wars. It's a history of Afghanistan from '72 to 9/11.

Why would the CIA have any questions to answer?

Well,if as you claim, the Professors cliam was known 30 years ago,how come the CIA didnt see what was going on in attacking the US.

waldo
10-19-2007, 03:18 PM
why would they?

paulc
10-19-2007, 03:21 PM
why would they?
Because if the Paki Intell was double dealing with al Qaeda, and the CIA was working with the Paki Intell, youd like to think the CIA could pick up whats going on,that IS they're job.

What makes you think the cia should know everything that the isi does? that's crazy.

ISI wasn't double dealing with AQ. AQ didn't even exist until the mid -90's.

paulc

No,they shouldnt know everything.
But working with these people for 30+ years, youd expect them to have an inclin to whats going on.

Sounds like you've got an opinion based on an assumption that isn't factual.

An assumption isnt a fact, whats your point.

waldo

That your opinion has no basis in fact.

In post 16 I say, ''if the Professors claim is true'',

Nope. Read the book i offered. It's pretty definitive. Well resourced, and footnoted.
