True crime buffs will recognize the name of Dr Harvey Hawley Crippen, notorious wife-killer and poisoner, hanged after a sensational trans-Atlantic capture and trial. The good doctor is probably England's second-most-famous murderer, and for years had his own waxwork effigy at Madame Tussaud's.
In a startling and bizarre new development in this almost one hundred year old case, scientists claim that Crippen was innocent, and the dismembered body found in his basement, the discovery of which sent him to the gallows, was in fact, not his wife.
I've been interested in this case for some time. Crippen is a distant relative on my Dad's side of the family.
