A Florida man who deliberately defied an Orlando ordinance which prohibits feeding the city's homeless will become the first person to face trial for the offence when he's hauled before a judge and jury. [more]THIS IS OBSURD!!!!!

I hope he gets out of this and sues and ends up extracting every dime!

When cities stated criminalizing homelessness, it was only a short step to criminalize those who would help them.

whoa, wait a minute, this was a thread about stealing donuts when I posted, wtf?I think you must have gotten confused either A) When they tased you for trying to steal a donut, or B) When your sugar crashed after failing to steal a donut. Check the other thread!

Just what a Tory would have said in Boston in the 1770s.

As a matter of fact, they DID say that.

"Hang those tea-dumping swine!"

Still tho, is that argument relevant to this thread?

Still tho, is that argument relevant to this thread?Isn't the thread about violating law for what seems to be a higher purpose? (It seems to me that feeding the homeless in violation of the law falls into that catagory.) Trav's comment sounded to me very Tory-ish.

You know as well as I, shiloh, that the War was fought over taxes.

You know as well as I, shiloh, that the War was fought over taxes.Don't you think that is too simplified? Like saying the Civil War was over slavery?

I can't believe there are actual laws against feeding homeless people, much less that they are enforced.

I can't believe we have to share the planet with people who think that anyone who steals a donut deserves to be hanged.

Even Archie Bunker is a bit more evolved than that.

He does deserve to be hanged. We should draw and quarter him for good measure, too.

If it was your donut, you might feel differently.... :)

This supposed "crime" is a joke. Arrested for feeding those less fortunate?

The dude says he's going to do his feedings three times a day for three days after this. Over a hundred people are showing up! Now, I'm all for helping the homeless, but some people want to use the friggen' park!
