I have a very high metabolism, and I used to have a problem staying at a normal weight. People used to ask me if I was anorexic. I would eat as much as I wanted, and LOSE weight. After a year and a half of not working out, and over eating, I finally gained 20 lbs. So now that I am at a weight I like, I want to start working off the belly I also gained from not being able to workouts. But it seems like every time I start, I lose 5 lbs automatically. I can stand to lose 5 or so lbs., but I'm afraid I will lose too much if I continue. Please don't tell me I should feel lucky, I don't. I finally feel healthy and happy at my weight now, but I also want to get my body back in shape. What can I do?

Exercise, but also eat a lot of high-protein foods, like lean meats, and good fats (avocados, nuts, etc.)... And when you exercise, try something besides cardio. You can still get in shape without vigorous aerobic exercise.

Pilates or yoga might be something to consider. They both emphasize strengthening the core which is central to health. Also they have some amazing stomach tightening exercises.

Or you could just try a really light workout load, only twice a week of few repetitions. Then gauge your progress and increase or decrease as necessary.

I suppose walking and riding a bike gets some excercise also :)

Good luck!

I recommend cardio PLUS yoga. Yoga is the bomb.

1. Minimal cardio. If your metabolism is already high, that will make it worse.
2. Lift Weights, specifically high weight with a low number of reps, that will build size and strength.
3. Yoga is very good for building strength, stamina, toning muscles and stretching. It is low impact and won't hit your metabolism as hard as running or jogging would.

It's a myth that exercising the stomach area actually helps you lose fat there. The fat deposits around your midsection are food for your whole body, not just the abs. You need full body cardio to beat that fat.

Try swimming. Swimmers find that the body deposits a little fat near the skin for insulation purposes. Bodybuilders avoid water training for that reason, But some light swimming should have you toned down and looking good in no time.

And if you lose too much weight, just go back to the pizza and coke diet.

Tae Bo

Good for cardio... good for toning

Works great for me anyway.

Yeah? What school does he go to?

He works nights and doesn't have time for Taekwondo anymore. When he worked days he was a junior instructor 2 nights a week.
