Thousands of protesters are dead and the bodies of hundreds of executed monks have been dumped in the jungle, a former intelligence officer for Burma's ruling junta has revealed.
The most senior official to defect so far, Hla Win, said: "Many more people have been killed in recent days than you've heard about. The bodies can be counted in several thousand."
Mr Win, who spoke out as a Swedish diplomat predicted that the revolt has failed, said he fled when he was ordered to take part in a massacre of holy men. He has now reached the border with Thailand.

Thousands??
Frankly, I find that hard to believe.
After all the raids on monasteries, arrests of monks, reports of soldiers shooting into the crowds and watching the videos of the soldiers running through the streets shooting people, I do not find it hard to believe at all.

I remember people saying the same thing when Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge killed so many in Cambodia. Hell, some still say it never happened.

It is a bit easier to conceive of thousands having been killed after years of abusive dictatorial rule, instead of the short time the hostilities have been taking place in Burma.
Hell, some still say it never happened.
Name a few of them.

Name a few of them.
Hell, they killed thousands with the first weeks, while emptying the cities.
Name a few:
Every member of Kampuchean Communist Party.
Members of the 'Angkar' group, know as 'Brother Number Two', 'Brother Number Three', and so on. (sorry I can't provide their real names, but I'm not sure they have all been identified)
Chhit Choeun (The Butcher)(Brother Number Five)
Khang Khek Ieu (aka "Duch")
and the others still awaiting trial, as of this year, for their participation.

I agree, Freethinker, a thousand in that short time is inconceivable. I wonder what excuse the western world is using for not "liberating" the people of Burma.

Best way to get it done is sequentially. Not on many fronts at the same time.

Hell, some still say it (note; the **it** in this sentence is a direct reference to Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge killing many people in Cambodia) never happened.
Name a few of them.

?!?!?!?
I was challenging you to name a few of those people -per your assertion- who are claiming that it never happened that Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge killed many people in Cambodia.......it was not a request for you to name some of the people killed in Cambodia.
