Umpires are held to a different and higher standard because they are the ones supposed to keep control of the game and to insure that emotions do not run too high. They, as the arbiters of what and what is not allowed must follow the rules most closely.

If players swear at an umpire, they get tossed out of the game. Umps shouldn't get a free pass.
