There is a fundraising dinner (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070925/ap_on_el_pr/giuliani_house_party_1) for Ghouliani called "9/11 for Giuliani" where they are charging people $9.11 a plate.

Is he exploiting 9/11 too much?

Do you seriously think that is the same as exploiting a tragedy that killed thousands of Americans?

Bill was a tragedy that killed thousands of Americans...even excluding the ones murdered in Waco.

Giuliani exploiting 9/11, Hillery, Obama, et al, exploiting Iraq, and our casualties. What's the difference? Thats normal behavior for politicians, all of them.

LOL, when I read this story in the paper this morning, I just KNEW Dharma would exploit it.

Good to see he didn't let me down.

The difference is that Hillary and Obama are not hosting themed fund raisers to exploit tragedies.

I think the proper expression is "sugar won't melt in their mouth's". Like they're soooo sweet, it couldn't happen. I've never heard the word "butter" used in that context before. I could be wrong, though.

Oh, and I agree with you. :)

I don't know the origins, but my mother used sugar when referring to "sweet", and butter in referring to "innocence".

well, there was a senator named Paul Wellstone who died in an accident and at his memorial servie all the ususal left wing suspects got up there and started rallying against Bush and it turned into a yelling and screaming political rally, when it was supposed to be the poor guys memorial service. That incident could possibly be the reason the dems lost the mid terms during the first Bush term.

Well, I don't know a lot about Clinton's politics, considering that I was 10 when he left office. However, the more I learn about him the more I think I would like him. My own political opinions are constantly changing at this point, but I think a pattern is emerging in which I lean left on social issues and right on economic issues. And I do mean "LEAN", because I tend to take a pretty moderate stance on most issues.

I was talking about those who originally highjacked the thread (beginning with you) and instigated an assinine and meaningless (to the topic at hand) discussion of restaurants and food.

I LOVED the food in Ireland. I like bland food though. Sensitive taste buds and all. The bacon in Ireland was absolutely to die for... In this country, you get a BLT and the lettuce and tomato are the whole show, maybe a tiny bit of bacon every other bite. And the tea was amazing. I had to buy some in the airport to bring back with me. Even better than English breakfast tea, which you can get here and which I like a lot. Basically everything I ate there was good, especially the meats.

I guess you missed it. I posted it a while back.

You and others completely steered the discussion away from anything to do with Giuliani.

You began --and continued for several posts-- to ramble on about restaurants and food.
So what? I don't think that was LF's intention. Everyone in this thread agrees that Giuliani's use of 9/11 for his own purposes continues to be tacky. Since there was no argument about it at all, we decided to talk about something else.

Ok.

Maybe you're right.

It just seemed to me, in all seriousness, to be a deliberate **let's fill the topic with meaningless drivel so that people will stop paying any attention to it** ploy.

If it was not intentional, my apologies.

Tacky or not, at this point in time I plan on voting for Rudy.

Now getting back to the really important topic.

I love eating the typical foods of wherever I am. When in the Caribbean I eat stuff like fried flying fish for breakfast along with fruit, curried goat for lunch and Jerked Chicken for dinner.

In Australia I ate Emu and meat pies, Vegamite and beans of toast.

I am looking forward to having a Full English Breakfast, bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, beans and mushrooms. I happen to love Bangers and Mash, Shepherds Pie, Cottage Pie and Toad In The Hole. I am looking forward to trying Yorkshire Pudding and Bubble and Squeak.

I already know German, Austrian, Swiss and Italian food but Belgian and Dutch food should be interesting.

When I go to Joe's Crab Shack I order the crab leg special, Blue Claw, King Crab and Snow Crab legs boiled in Old Bay. That and corn on the cob and cole slaw and I am in seafood heaven.

old bay? i never tried that. I will next time.... i usually get the BBQ style. though it doesnt taste anything like BBQ.. more like a hickory rub seasoning.

What is typical Irish food, Paul? About the only typically Irish meal I am familiar with is corned beef and cabbage with boiled potatoes. I figure you probably eat a lot of lamb.
