We are personnel of newspaper Asaval Dasavali from a Caucasian country consonant with your great state Georgia and we appeal to world community for help. Once editor-in-chief of our newspaper Lasha Nadareishvili wrote to the President of USA George Bush and to President of France Nicola Sarcosi about catastrophic situation of freedom of mass media in our Georgia. But this letter has been ignored by respected sirs. Or it could have been intercepted by Georgian Special Services. Instead of it George Bush received from our President Saakashvili’s hands fabricated letter from “Georgian fighters for freedom” that had been “intercepted by KGB 7 years ago”. Some time ago we could consider funny such crude work of non-existent KGB. But now we regard it as attempt of distraction attention of world community from trampling of journalists’ rights in Georgia.
In August together with other independent mass media companies Asaval Dasavali was chucked out of its office on the plea of rent non-payment though we can produce all paid bills. Once editor-in-chief Lasha Nadareishvili suffered from state outrage in 1998 during Shevardnadze’s government. So this heroic man had heart attack when Saakashvili’s butchers began annihilating 15-years archives of newspaper. But he stayed with us till the end of this humiliation. Then doctors of cardiologic clinic gave us temporary asylum. They are the only people in Georgia that dared to help us.
So we ask for help everyone reading this text for the mighty politicians don’t want to hear our howl of despair. Georgia became state of terror. Don’t ignore news about outrage coming from there! I-net community are the only people who can read the truth about situation here. And situation is catastrophic and getting worse.
