The fastest driver ever caught in a routine speed check in the UK has been sentenced to 10 weeks in jail.

Timothy Brady from London pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

Brady was clocked at 172mph in a Porsche 911 in a 70mph zone in Oxfordshire in January.

Get it right, that was a 911 Turbo, the regular 911s just don't have enough kick.

I was driving from Wiesbaden to Munich, Germany one Sunday morning. The autobahn was empty and I'd had my foot to the floor of my 735i BMW for about 30 minutes, enjoying the sensation. The speedometer would not go any further, nor would the tach - I'd already hit the rev limiter a couple of times on slight downgrades - so I was probably going around 145 mph or so. A Porsche came from behind quite quickly, passed me without effort. From that day on I've wanted a Porsche. I've owned 2 Corvettes (a '67 & '71, both coupes) and a couple of other American factory hot rods, but none could compete with that Porsche. The newer the better!

Now if I could only win the lottery ....

I just don't like the way Porsches look. If it'll go above a hundred it doesn't make much difference to me, except the looks!

I've hit 110 in my little 4-beater Nissan (I was cross-country on the Interstate in Tennessee at the time), and I'm terrified to drive that fast because of the Highway Patrol and such. I'm just impressed that my car can do that.

I hit 120 in my old Camaro, in a 70 MPH zone. That was fun, and that was also the fastest I've ever driven. In case you're wondering, I got 4 speeding tickets in a year span once.

At one point got it to 120ml. but slowed down not knowing the roads

hehehe I got three point going to quesnel and coming home the same freaking cop caught me again and gave me 6 points and a visit to the front seat of his car to chat. lol
He was not a happy camper lol
So yah a 9 point day it really sucked and at the time my boyfriend bought me a dozen carnations because I was having such a bad day. lol sweet

That probably has less to do with your driving and more to do with what you're driving. I'm a habitual speeder, and I have a perfect driving record. Driving a gray sedan helps.

Crap shorty, what did that do to your insurance...did you have to take the brush-up driving course? My speed demon girlfriend did. Her insurance also hit $4000.00 for the year and I believe it was a three year thing.

Also being polite when stopped helps immensely. The last time the cop had attitude and tried to get me going. I was sweet and he dropped the speed he had clocked me at and gave me a warning. One of my friends said had it been him, he would have been cuffed and in the back seat... course he mouths off so he is likely right.

hehe well I tell you...I got freaking lucky
There is a time line on how long they have to collect it from you (5 years). hehehe
It was 3000.00 but I had two year to renew my license and well went in after two years to renew with cash in hand...the guy said you don't owe anything...hehehe I said yeah I do...Well I told him if he didn't take it I wasn't going to pay the next time I renewed and hehe well didn't end up paying a penny..

Yeah they threatened one more ticket and safe driving school for me lol
never happened though...

This goddamn crotchety old fuck of a cop gave me a $115 ticket for making an illegal left turn, almost looked apologetic when he was handing to me, then got back into his car as quick as he could before I could find the ticket amount. I'm going to go to North Carolina, get me a DL there, and let them suspend this one, if the screwy fuckers ever get around to it. Fucking racket.

You are wholly mistaken.All newer {last 2 years} 911's can
top 172 mph.
Yes,The Turbo is the fastest in the lineup.
But there are a DOZEN different 911 models.
BTW...The GT3 is Non-Turbo and has a top speed of 193.
Thar Bub.
The Turbos are faster 0-60 .
But the engine compression ratios' are vastly different,
as is the gearing.

Helio Castroneves was clocked doing 180 on a Florida Interstate.

Of course, being a 2- time Indy 500 winner, this probably seemed like put-putting along.

I got pulled over for doing 105 in Montana. All I got was a warning.
2 weeks later they imposed a 75mph restriction for heavys on the highway
I was driving a semi.
Porsche's are nothing more than a speed bump

Crazy.

A few ago I witnessed a young man friggin' around on his motorcycle and ended up losing it. He imbedded himself onto a guard rail.
I figured the best I could do is lift his visor for him, to help him get some air until medics arrived.
There was no hope. Maybe it was the worst thing I did.

I get so scared for motorcyclists who mess around like that.

True! They are way to dangerous to be playing around with. I laid mine down twice, but both times I was sitting still! lol

It made me hurt just reading about that embedding! Ouch!

It's a horrible thing to watch and to be so helpless.

haha about laying your bike down while sitting on it. I was in the Americade in '91. Bikers are awesome folk.
We went with a group of about 25 bikes, doubled up and one of the lead bikers was an older guy with an artifical leg.
We pulled up to the light in Lake George, 1000's of bikers everywhere and lined up at the light in all directions. Our leader went to stop and his leg came off. He tipped over spilling his passenger.

Not one bike in any of the lines moved, even though they had the green light. They all just sat still until we helped him back on his bike and he was ready. They all waited for the light to turn green for him to go.
That was friggin' cool, the comradery of ALL the bikers, it was like an unspoken rule and awesome to witness.
