Keep squirming, dear. I haven't had this much fun with a topic since I've been here!

ROFL!!!

I cannot believe you are actually stupid enough to still be claiming that UAW workers in the Parts Warehoses all make "BIG" wages comparable to bank executives.

You are the only one squirming SMW and I find it hilareous!!!
:lolhit:

You seriously need to learn when to just :stfu:

You are not wrong, exactly.
What you have actually noticed is the escalation in other people being a dick towards me, thus I give what I get and you notice I am forced to lay more of a smack-down then usual.

Actually I think Vile and I are pretty much done for now.
I don't think we will ever see eye to eye on that issue. I understand his position but I certainly do not agree with it.

Anyone else notice DHarma is like a super dick lately,,, funny thing is i havent fought with him in weeks.
That's just Dharma. After awhile the doltery quiets to a dull roar. I used to think he might one day lighten up and start truly contributing to the boards, but partisan hackery seems to be the the only game in his closet. I wonder why he does it, if he's got OCD, really does have no social skills, only cares to practice for real life debates, or what? Typically, people who post here actually enjoy the companionship of having people around to talk about stuff and interact with. Dharma and FT are the rare exceptions.

You've stumbled upon a secret US government prison. All of the other poster's here are locked into a room with computers and forced to do menial tasks. Some of us don't see sunlight for days on end. One of us found a way to get on the Internet, and so this is our only social lives.

Gee, I thought for sure Dharma would speak Chinese. Heaven forbid he has to admit to something he DOESN'T know.

The symbols mean:

IDIOT

IMHO, he is one, in any language.

I don't care to find my Windows CD so I can install East Asian Language Support so I can find out what it does mean, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean anything. The kanji themselves have different meanings between the two languages. In Japanese, they are the kanji for horse and deer, respectively. I never studied Chinese so I wouldn't know about that.

It seems like a strike would be right up the alley of some here at AF.

How dumb can they get??? (bite the hand that feeds you)

They all just want extra stuff, or free stuff.

Why do you never hear about a strike with Honda and Toyota?

Do they treat their employees so bad?

This kind of thing will be our end.

The big three need to find a way to get rid of the unions.

I'm not real sure what all the issues are, but it seems the biggest is "job security".

CNN reported, this morning, that the UAW will pay married strikers a stipend of $200 per month. Sure hope them workers been saving some of the "slave wages" paid by GM, other wise they might get hungry.

Vilepagan

Why do you never hear about a strike with Honda and Toyota?

Because their plants aren't unionized.

dharmabum
09-29-2007, 08:56 AM
Do they treat their employees so bad?

They certainly did before the advent of Unions in America.
If you did not know that already, then I highly recommend you read The Jungle (http://www.amazon.com/Jungle-Uncensored-Original-Upton-Sinclair/dp/1884365302)by Upton Sinclair.

es347fan
09-29-2007, 09:34 AM
The book was published over 100 years ago.

In many ways it seems the time of unions has passed. There may be a time when they are again necessary, but not in the foreseeable future.

The Praetorian

I love you, Vile. I knew there was a reason, too. :)

The book was published over 100 years ago.

And the Constitution was published over 200 years ago, has it's time also passed?

There may be a time when they (unions) are again necessary...

Yes, the instant they cease to exist.

.

es347fan
09-29-2007, 09:49 AM
And the Constitution was published over 200 years ago, has it's time also passed?

Comparing Sinclair's work with the Constitution is like comparing apples to chrome wheels.

Unions have given much to labor, that is not in dispute. What is the sense of continuing to keep them going?

Napsterbater
09-29-2007, 09:56 AM
And the Constitution was published over 200 years ago, has it's time also passed?
Pretty much.

dharmabum
09-29-2007, 10:02 AM
What is the sense of continuing to keep them going?

Because there is nothing that can replace them.

The need for labor to have the ability to organize when necessary does more to motivate capital to treat their employees well than any law on the books.

Laws can be corrupted in the legislative process, overruled in the courts, overwritten later on or just plain ignored and go unenforced. Everyone knows that the wealthy in America deal with a completely different justice system than the poor do.

The only power that the average person has to be able to change that when it does happen is the power to organize with his fellow citizens and represent themselves on the larger stage, where the average individual alone has no chance whatsoever.

Well said, Dharma. The right of people to assemble should not be infringed.
