2 + 2 = 22 ... or else! (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070918/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/venezuela_socialist_education)
CARACAS, Venezuela - President Hugo Chavez threatened on Monday to take over any private schools refusing to submit to the oversight of his socialist government, a move some Venezuelans fear will impose leftist ideology in the classroom.
All Venezuelan schools, both public and private, must submit to state inspectors enforcing the new educational system. Those that refuse will be closed and nationalized, Chavez said.

Thats what they said about Castro, too. Now, when Cubans want to eat, they have to pay black market rates for food, and their jobs pay them nothing. The only people making any money are Castro, his family, and friends.
The same thing is going to happen in Venezuela, if the people don't revolt. Hell, those who can are leaving, anyone there with money is sending the money out, if they can't leave.
I think the only people who still support Chavez, are the very poor, and those he has appointed to his government.

If the only people who support Chavez are the poor then surely thats fine, the majority of people there are the poor.
As for Castro,he done a good thing when coming to power, but his time is coming to an end.

Yeah they are attempting to make it appear as though Castro is doing well physically but I don't think he really is. His brother will likely take over soon. It will be interesting to see what changes occur then.
Canadians as well as Europeans do a lot of vacationing there, they take in huge tourist dollars so we'll see if they keep it foreigner friendly.

Castro did start out as a good guy.But soon after the Revolution
started he got a tast of supreme power and it totally corrupted
his entire persona.Educated by Jesuits,Castro very well understood
right from wrong.Today,I'm not sure he even realizes what the " F "
he's doin.It was believed, early in this Millenia that he was slowly evaporating
his money supply on Graft within his inner circle. He's pretty much
exhausted all goodwill within that circle.Yes,some family
members {his brother} will undoubtedly take over if he becomes
Ill or dies.Havana was a real hop'n place Pre-revolution.
If given the chance to become a Vacation spot, once again with
Casino's and Big Nightclubs,it will save Cuba and again,be utter
than Castro's Personal Paradise.

From all indicators, that scumbag Batista was in the pocket of US mafia familys, sending huge amounts of illegal funds out of America,Havana was the playground of these people, while the locals lived in poverty.

Penalty timeline for schools "in need of improvement":
After 2 years: Schools must allow parents to transfer their children to other public schools. They also must develop a school improvement plan and spend 10 percent of their Title I allocation on teacher professional development.
After 3 years: Schools must provide eligible students with "supplemental services," which generally means tutoring.
After 4 years: Schools must take "corrective action," such as replacing school staff, adopting new curriculum or extending the school day.
After 5 years: Schools face takeover by the state or a contracted private education firm.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I can't judge what they are doing without actually seeing it but one can assume. For those not paying attention American schooling is horribly indoctrinating. Seems like Venezuela is doing the same thing but in a different direction.

All countries must protect the education of their citizens and if the majority of that country elects certain type of government, and it decides that the education must be according to a particular curricula, so be it...
There is nothing wrong with SOCIALIST ideals, unless you are, of course, a fascist right wing warmonger, who only want that the wealth be distributed among an elite of fucktards... And the idea of "me first, me second, me third", and fuck the rest of the people...

I read that article (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/21/AR2006102100336.html) too and you are a bit off in your criticism. The Black market is not the only place they can get food. They go to the Black Market because it allows them to go over their quotas and skirt other regulations.
Cuba doesn't need to wait for Castro to die to see change. Their lives would improve immeasurably if we simply lifted sanctions on them.

Yeah, yeah, it's Paradise. Thats why there are thousands of people risking their lives, in, and on, anything that will float to get INTO Cuba.

There is nothing wrong with SOCIALIST ideals....
Of course there's nothing wrong with socialist "ideals"; it's when they're put into practice that problems arise. Don't believe me? Just ask France how well their market is performing. Their own prime minister seems to think his country is "bankrupt" - his words, not mine. I mean, short of a few isolated examples here, bankruptcy is endemic to socialist nations, but those stupid bastards will never learn. The sad thing is, if France ever goes belly-up, then who do you think will rescue 'em?

I never said it was paradise, but it isn't the hell-on-earth you are trying to paint it as either, where the only food available is on the black market....

A. The 'market' does not define how well the country treats the people, how happy they are, or if their freedoms are respected.
B. The US is the biggest debtor nation on the planet. The US is beyond bankrupt, oweing more money then it even has in circulation.

Simple bit of math for you, retard. We're 7 trillion in debt. We make 12 trillion a year. Subtract the difference. That said, you show me one economist who thinks we're "bankrupt" and I'll cede the argument. Tool.

Yeah, but you're still really young. At your age, I was doing the same thing. And probably far more often. I used to drink 5 nights a week when I was 23 - 24, and I'm not just talking about 4 or 5 beers a night either; I'm talking about 12 beers to a case a night. And maybe hard liquor too (depending on the company). You can't do that shit when you're over 27.

i am 30 and new to the game of being a total hopeless drunk.... In my college years i smoked a bit, powdered my nose a bit,but never really took to drinking i never really did..... i can honestly and truly in my heart say that drinking does make all the pain go away... well you might just end up dulling it,but you dont feel it. I am sure it is a road to nowhere, but hey look at it this way if my road was going somewhere i wouldn't be here talking about it.... besides... a least my friend never sprayed my arm... that is reason enough to pick up the habit.
