I'd like to know what kind of TV shows you like to watch, generally speaking, and what kind you really don't like. If you can also think of some possible reasons why you like/dislike certain type of shows, and/or what this may say about your personality/taste, I'd love to hear it.

I found that I enjoy sitcoms (except for Everybody Loves Raymond) but hate other TV dramas (like Sopranos, Law & Order, Desperate Housewives). I enjoy Family Guy and Futurama, but dislike nearly all other cartoon. Soap Opera I never watch, and day time programming in general I can rarely watch.

I also found that I hate reality shows (like MTV's Real World, Survivors..etc), because there's usually not much going on but people arguing, waiting, and talking to the camera, saying very boring things...and then they do some competitions but it's almost all lame. On the other hand I generally enjoy Discovery, Travel, and Animal channel programs.

I used to love watching the food network shows, but not anymore. When it comes to sport I enjoy watching basketball and tennis, extreme-anything, and only highlights for the rest. But I love the Olympics and will watch anything on the Olympics.

Oh...almost forgot. I never watch the news. I know what goes on in the world when everybody starts talking about it or it's all over the internet, on the cover of important magazines. Never from the news. Nor do I watch political debates.

I used to like watching stuff like VH1, E!...but it got old. There's lots and lots of countdowns (100 Hottest xxx; 50 Most Embarrassing xxx) and it got boring really fast. Rather just watch movies. But don't like watching movies on TV; they edit out good stuffs. Hate all game shows except Jeopardy. But won't make a special effort to watch it. Late night talk shows I generally watch. Most of the time it's very funny.

I loved Saturday Night Live. But haven't watched for more than a year.

This is an interesting topic , dio, but I'm afraid my answer will be short.
I just don't have time to watch tv and when I do most of the shows seem silly.

Now and then I'll watch old reruns of Law and Order but even those times are few. Or newer shows on Discovery or History Channel, like Mega-Disaster which I find thrilling.

I like the older shows whenever I have a few minutes extra--Dick Van Dyke, Andy Griffith or Twilight Zone. I was a regular viewer of The Gangster Chronicles back in the day but those times are long gone, where I have time to watch a show regularly.

I do make time for my NASCAR. Wouldn't miss that for the world. Also other auto racing, and football. We get mostly Colts games here; to see my Browns we have to go to a sports bar which isn't always that much fun because we like to watch games in our own home.

Hopefully you'll get better responses to your question than mine!

I like the Daily show and the Colbert report on Comedy Central. I love comedy. Madtv,Saturday night live. I like animation especially Southpark! I like FSTV and they have some great programs. I don't have HBO or Showtime but I would probably watch the Sopranos,Weeds, and Big Love if I did. I have seen episodes and like them. I like the history channel, animal planet and the food network. I usually don't go for reality tv like Survivor,Big Brother. If it is a reality show with a celebrity I usually find it more interesting although those can get boring too. I love music but don't watch MTV. VH1 every once in a while. When I have trouble sleeping and find myself upat 2AM I watch Poker after Dark and maybe reruns of Cops.

Poker after Dark...that reminded me. I absolutely can't watch the Poker competitions on TV. It's one of the most boring things to watch for me.

Reality tv seems idiotic to an extreme...mean, too, from what little I've seen of them.....people acting like they're you're lifelong friends, only to stab you in the back at some later date--for money.

Competitive poker has began to run its course, I believe. The main event at the World Series actually went down this year after rebreaking its on record for several years strait - and finally, it's not on every channel that much anymore. There was a time when you could find poker on 3 out of every 10 stations you flipped through.

As for the shows I like - it really depends on the writing and cast for me. I have no distinct genre that I perfer to others. For example, IMHO House, MD is the best drama on television - but I loathe all other medical dramas. I hate Greys, ER, and Nip Tuck. I am also a big fan of Til Death but there are countless sitcoms I don't enjoy. I love Entourage but I don't enjoy any of the other HBO shows that I have watched (for those about to scold me - I havent yet seen 6 Feet Under). I also really like some of the VH1 Celeb gossip shows and I like all of the different dating shows on MTV like Date My Mom, TellDaters, and especially Parental Control. I enjoy watching Tennis and College basketball on a regular basis, while for the majority of the other sports - I simply watch the championship. And of course, every Monday I have to watch Monday Night Raw

As for shows I don't like - Ugly Betty, Seinfield (I hate that it is syndicated on like 12 channels), Grey's Anatomy, The Sopranos, anything with Bam Margera or Steve-O in it. Most things that I "don't like", I "don't watch"....so I really can't even begin to list many of them.

I like so many different kinds of shows. I like sitcoms, cartoons, dramas, reality shows, documentaries, makeover shows... I like all those shows about people with a bunch of kids, especially. I do like shows like The Real World, etc. I love Law & Order, a lot of shows on the Style Network and the History Channel...

When I had TV all I pretty much ever watched was the news, stuff on the History and Discovery channels, and sports. The rest of the stuff doesnt really appeal to me. I did however frequent a few shows, such as CSI (my fav) and Law and Order, also The Office. House was cool too, the few episodes I did watch. Other than that I never really delved into the sitcoms and reality shows. Oh yeah, shows that come on adult swim, such as ATHF and Robot Chicken, those crack me up, I love random humor. In fact I have all 5 seasons of ATHF, lol.

I enjoy history and discovery too. I don't watch any sitcoms - and hate CSI. The only primetime show I rather like is Boston Legal - but I don't watch it regularly.

Interesting topic, Dio. And kinda fun to see what everybody likes and doesn't like.

I prefer reality shows... but not scripted ones like Big Brother or Survivor or that type. I like to watch real people in various situations -- like Cops or America's Funniest Videos, Animal Cops, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Cheaters, and especially the new shows about beach patrols... and Antiques Roadshow. I also enjoy crime documentaries like City Confidential and stories about what makes serial killers (like Dahlmer & Manson) tick. I rarely watch any sitcoms... especially new ones. However, like Ren, I enjoy the old classics like Andy Griffith, Mama's Family and (looks over shoulder to see if anyone is lurking) even The Brady Bunch. I like Family Guy (although I think they're going a little too out there at times) and American Dad. Can take or leave The Simpsons. Futurama is pretty good, too. King of the Hill is out there, Texas culture-wise, but I watch it because I can relate to some of their jokes.

If I get a chance to watch daytime TV, I can tolerate most judge shows and choose them over game shows. And... true confession... I got hooked big time on All My Children & One Life to Live years ago and enjoy catching up with them on Soapnet when I have a chance on the weekends.

Watch local news every day, national news only when something's going on. For example, when a hurricane is bearing down on the coast, I can watch the Weather Channel all weekend long!

I absolutely hate talk shows, including late night... except for the opening monologues. Esp like to watch Ellen Degeneres' dance. But then I switch channels. Love American Idol when the season first starts and the really BAD people perform. Same way with America's Got Talent. After the finalists are chosen, I lose interest. I do like Cash Cab though... it's one of the few 'game shows' I watch.

Also not a big movie fan. I usually don't manage to see anything when it's first released, but might catch it later on cable if I'm really bored. (Exceptions -- any Pirates of the Caribbean movie or remakes of old movies I liked like Hairspray... Travolta was great in that one!)

Last, but certainly not least, my all-time fav classics, The Three Stooges. I have DVDs of most of their episodes, as well as Andy Griffith's shows. Didn't want to risk Stooges and Andy marathons going out of style. Although I can quote most of their lines, I still think they're funny.

I like a variety of older shows - MASH, all the Star Treks, various versions of Law & Order. The History Channel & Discovery are long time favorites, along with Jericho, the 4400, Heroes, & Eureka. I'll watch CBS news in the evening & CNN in the mornings. I enjoy Leno's openings and have gotten caught up in Big Brother - primarily due to it being on at dinner time & my wife loves it. My other half also watches cooking shows & HGTV - always trying to find another project for me to do. With Bugs Bunny pretty much gone off the air (around here, anyway) cartoons have lost their allure.

Since obtaining satellite TV at my apartment, I've taken quite the liking to the National Geographic Channel. I still watch pretty much anything from the History, Discovery, NFL, ESPN and A&E Channels. Also included for favorite shows are Family Guy, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, and even Robot Chicken (to indulge my stupid humor sweet tooth).

The thing I have noticed, about TV, is: The more channels available the worse programing gets. They have to accept anything to fill their broadcast hours, and sell that ad time. TV SUCKS.

Aside from the Sunday morning talk shows I like 24 and American Idol.

Really. :)

For the most part I like to watch shows that'll make me laugh. Sitcoms like the stuff on CBS Mondays (Two and a Half Men and How I Met Your Mother), comedians on comedy central (Carlos Mancia and Bill Engvall), stupid shows like Girls Next Door cracks me up too. The Simpsons is funny. And I still enjoy Friends.

I watch Dr. 90210. I love the before and after stuff. Other than that I don't know why. I don't really care about all the other stuff.

I watch the news in the morning while having coffee.

The Ellen show I try to watch at least the beginning. I still think that she's funny. I don't care for any other "talk shows".

I do like the celebrity gossip shows. Not sure why really.

Dirt with Courtney Cox and The Ritches with Minnie Driver are two other shows that I enjoy. Kinda bizarre but definately entertaining.

And then I also enjoy Grey's and Desperate Housewives. Lots of eye candy. Plus everyone leaves me alone while it's on. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure which I like better....the show or being left alone for an hour! LOL

Ohhh.....and I love Discovery Channel! Dirty Jobs, Myth Busters, It Takes and Thief, and Cash Cab. All great shows!

Okay I'm done now. hehehehe

Poker after Dark...that reminded me. I absolutely can't watch the Poker competitions on TV. It's one of the most boring things to watch for me. Not as bad as watching people play golf. That's the worse. Of course I don't play or especially like the game. Do you like poker? If not I would think it would be terribly boring to you. I don't really watch that much tv. I'm to busy with other stuff. I do like British comedy though. Especially like Keeping Up Appearances and Absolutly Fabulous! Mr. Bean rocks too!

I don't watch television very often but if I do decide to it is normally something educational. I sometimes will watch discovery or the history channel.
