Buffalo Bills reserve Tight End, Kevin Everett, suffered a "catastrophic" neck and spinal cord injury during Sunday's NFL season opener with the Denver Broncos. The injury was severe enough that there is the likelihood that he will be paralyzed for the rest of his life and is not out of the woods yet in terms of blood clotting and respiratory problems which could kill him. A painful reminder of just how dangerous this sport can be. Nobody likes to see a full-blown athlete go down like this.

My thoughts and prayers with him and his family during this tragic event.

mine too. It is sad, but that is the risk players take every down.

So the doctor(s) that operated on him are saying that the chances of Everett walking again are rather likely. He has had voluntary movement in his arms and legs and has minimal swelling in his spinal cord.

A remarkable and miraculous recovery indeed.

I heard that on the news last night, they were saying he may walk out of the hospital. He went from catastrophic life threatning total paralysis to possibly walking out of the hospital, it is a miracle.

A full recovery from something like this would truly be miraculous...but it's such enough that he's even moving on his own again.

Quite a feather in the cap of the neurosurgical team, to be sure.
