UNION CITY, Ga. - A McDonald’s employee spent a night in jail and is facing criminal charges because a police officer’s burger was too salty, so salty that he says it made him sick.

Kendra Bull was arrested Friday, charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct and freed on $1,000 bail. [more]This country is going insane!!!!!!!! (I see more and more proof of that EVERYDAY!)

I read that earlier - but have a question for anyone that may have worked McD's - do the burger patties not come premade? In the article I read: the employee (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,296155,00.html)- Kendra Bull - was mixing hamburger meat when, she said, too much salt and pepper accidentally spilled into the bowl. Bull said her manager was working with her, and continued to make patties out of the meat. Bull grilled and ate one of the over-seasoned burgers for her dinner break and grilled the remaining burgers from the batch. Why not take the mgr in as well? Being that it happened in GA, look for race to raise its' ugly head somewhere along the line.

my sisters both worked there and the younger one is a manager now, they do have premade hamburger patties. It's faster and easier to get them done and out to the customer.

I think mostly this is getting attention cause it happened to a cop. If it was any old Joe it wouldn't have gotten further than the guy getting a free burger:rolleyes:

GOOD.Nip this practical joke in the bud.
Obviously someone in the grill area thought it funny
to screw with the food. It's gettin to be a fad,in the restaurant
business. There's a Live caught in the act TV show that
captures on Video, employees pullin pranks with customer's food.
Like Urinating in a back area on someone's food.
Lest we furgit that Jesse Jackson once admitted to spittin on
white folks sandwiches when he worked as a short order cook.

it says right in the article too much salt was "accidentally" added,it doesn't even elude to this being a prank.
I think the cop was out of line and out of control, questioning her outside then arresting her.....for overseasoned meat that supposedly made him ill? What an ass

McDonalds used to have salt shakers to lightly season the grilled
not fried meat. It's easy to have a salt shaker that dispenses too
much. Therefore a little tape inside the shaker will limit the salt.
I've recently seen a McD's with a French frie station salt shaker that
rained out salt.Way too much.A good mngr.shoulda noticed this
but McD's is gettin real sloppy.
In fact, just last week I had to return a plain hamburger TWICE because
the patty was torn pretty bad on one side.Which means the grill
spatula wasn't sharpened. They eventually develop burrs because
of all the meat being flipped on a metal grill.
McD's NOW goes nuts with the pepper.Ya gotta scrape all the
pepper off.
I bet some grill person thought it cute to toss loads of salt on a Cops
burger.I'll also bet that Burger was a grill {special} order.
Otherwise I'm wrong.

did you even bother to read the article? Do you know that people on the grill cannot see the front or drive thru? So tell me,how did she know that specific burger was a cops burger?

Yes they are getting sloppy, but so is BK and Taco Hell.......and honestly,it's all the consumers fault because they want their food NOW,as in yesterday NOW.

If a cop went thru the drive-thru then it would have to be word
of mouth.Like somone in DT,whispering to someone in the grill.
But if that Cop placed his order at the counter, most experienced
grill employees, can figger out who's grill order it was.
But it still would need to be a special order burger, unless the cop
usually gets the same order.

Each patty had a tear the size of a fifty cent piece.
No excuse for that at all.
I was a grillman in a McDonals and then a Mngr.
I don't believe I ever sent up a burger,half that torn...EVER.
The 2nd patty was identical to the first.Maybe they just gave me
the same patty with a new bun.
But,the Mngr. on duty, never checked the 2nd sandwich.
And he was aware of my complaint, because I made a stink
about it,right in front of he.I mean him.

Come on.... the burger is full of salt to begin with. If after one bite the guy was stupid enough to motor through it, his body likely did him a huge favour by tossing it. McDonalds does not serve "food" they serve fat and "salt" on a plate with enough calories in one meal to last you for a week.

If the burgers are pre formed it was not just a random accident. They were screwing around with the food but sending someone to jail overnight because of a salty burger is ridiculous.

McDonals used to have THE best 2 bit, then 4 bit hamburgers on the planet.
Then the Environmentalist wacko's got together with the
FDA lobby to watchdog the cooking temps of meat or hamburger.
Used to be,one could get a really juicy burger at McD's.
Now,their overcooked,no juices,and placed in holding trays
like an old city cafteria, just warming.
Their dry as a Moderators hairpiece on their day off.
Look about as apetizing as well.
McDonalds spent many hours testing and fine-tuning their cooking technique
of flash frozen burgers.
Ya slap a completely frozen patty, usually 6 in a row on a very
accurately calibrated grill and hit a timer.A buzzer sounds after
20 seconds and you sear those patties with a metal iron the size
of a flattened softball.
You flip the patty on the signal device you hit at around
60 seconds and remove 30 seconds later when the last flasher
signals.A perfectly cooked burger is then established.
One way to tell if the burger is set to flip is when the red juices
start to appear.
There... I just explained the old way of Mcd's fabulous burger method.

Um,ever heard of salt shakers. You mean you never bothered to

They dose salt on fries after every basket is dumped in the

Not true... The meal that I generally get has a total of 650 calories - not even half a day's worth.
Double cheeseburger - 440 calories
Medium Coke - 210 calories
Even if I get the fries (rare) and eat all of them (never), it would only be 1,040 calories. Isn't a normal diet supposed to be 2,000 calories? I don't think I EVER eat 2,000 calories in a day...
Sometimes I get snack wraps there. Even the most fattening one, the one with crispy chicken and ranch dressing, has only 330 calories, although it does have 16 grams of fat. That's okay for me though, since I don't think I ever get anywhere near reaching 100% of my daily fat allowances. I pay more attention to the calories than the fat, but with the 1200 or so calories I eat per day I don't think I get too much fat. The only fattening thing I eat on a regular basis is cheese. :D

Absolutely true... the nutritional value is almost zero... and 650 is over half of what some people should have for the day. It depends upon your age and activity level. Keep eating that crap and see what happens to your body. The nitrates, fat and sodium will kill you.

You kinda lost me here foolie. I know they add salt plus the preservatives are salt. Here in Canada it is labelled sodium on the packaging. Check out their milkshakes and see how much salt is in them. They should be renamed McPoison.

I can see eating that junk once in a blue moon but for many people it is a staple. And that cop ate through the burger... how? He couldn't taste the salt? The guy has no taste buds, or has such a wicked bad diet in general he couldn't tell in which case he shouldn't be bitching. The whole story smacks of exaggeration or outright lies.

I'm a food snob,so yes,fast food on a regular basis is gross.
I'm also a cheapskate for lunch.I eat a quick lunch 3 times a week.
So if I go to arby's I just get a plain roast beef sandwich.
Since i'm coming from home to lunch,I also saran wrap my own
slice of cheese w/mustard.
I like good mustard and certain cheese.
I used to like McDonalds Chicken Tenders or planks, but they now
come ready frozen and chock full of breading.I've complained twice
about all the breading I had to tear off before eating.
So,no I get a little 6 piece McNugget with their Hot Mustard sauce.

Trust me,snap open a McD french fry,and squeeze it.See how much
Potato meal oozes out.If practically None, then the store broke all
the cooking rules and dehydrated, and overcooked the fry.
I like plump french fries that aren't stiff or crispy.
Fries that are saggy.Crisp french fries are almost always ruined.
And if people knew how easy it was to screw up what constitutes
their milkshakes,they'd never order another.
Setting up the shake machine, every morning, requires carefull attention.
Most employees, even managers don't do it right.
McDonalds is built entirely around strict procedures. And most
managers don't follow half of them.
To prove how full of shit McDonalds is.
They used to sell Happy meals, and never even had as an option

more coke with the Happy meal.I used to think,...Hay that is just
utterly stupid, harmfull and even worthy of a lawsuit.
But,Oh no.It took a couple decades before anyone started

American's are morbidly obese and suffer health risks due largely to eating fast food express.

I have heard just as many horror stories about sit down restaurants like IHOP or Applebees...

I see absolutely nothing wrong with eating a cheeseburger from McDonald's once a month or so. It's like everyone is attacking me and everyone else who happens to not eat perfectly healthy food 100% of the time. the sit down places are actually worse with this kind of stuff. Theres one here,a steakhouse,my brothers gf used to work in the kitchen and she said that twice she seen someone dropped a salad on the floor and just put it back on the plate and take it out. Same with someones dinner. And in all honesty,if it weren't so packed all the time on I'd still eat there.....just not get a salad or spaghetti....

Oh yeah. Since I'm a teenage college student, my friends are the ones who work in those restaurants, and I gotta tell you that they just don't give a crap about how clean the plates or pans or utensils are. And of course if they drop things they'd just maybe brush it off and send it right out. Not to mention what happens to your food if you piss them off...

I like McDonald's fries, but I usually don't eat them. I also like Burger King fries; they are not generally that different. The difference is really in the burgers, so which I want to eat depends on my mood. I like Checkers burgers a lot too. They seem to be of a better quality than McD's or BK, although they are slightly more expensive. I never eat at Wendy's, Arby's, or Hardee's. I like Popeye's Chicken, KFC is good too, and I really enjoy Taco Bell.
