I had a convo with my friend on thursday afternoon. He talked about how the Colts could very well lose this game. We lost so many people on defense, we can't stop the run, we have so many rookies playing, and the saints have such a dynamic offense. He predicted Deuce McCallister running for over 100 yards with a TD, Reggie Bush with a TD, and Drew Brees with a pair of TD passes.

I agreed with him, partially. I realized the situation... our defense had not been tested in a full game by a top-tier offense yet. Our rookies are unproven. However, I felt optimistic.. that the Colts are developing a system, similar to the patriots, where almost anyone can "fill in" and instantly become a star. Plus, there are still a few strongholds on the D, like Freeney, Bob Sanders, Rob Morris, Rahim Brock, and Booger McFarland to stop the run.

Well, we played the top offense in the league, and they only scored 3 points on us. In case you didn't see, the 41-10 score was only that way because Jason David (a colt-turned-saint in the offseason) returned a Reggie Wayne fumble 55 yards for a score. David might have felt good about himself had he not gotten torched on 3 TD passes, 2 to Wayne and 1 to Harrison.. making HIM look like the rookie.

Manning looked good despite losing Tarik Glenn, his backside blocker he has had his whole career. He got rid of the ball early, and could feel the pressure coming. Joseph Addai looked like a pinball, gaining at least 3-4 yards after first contact on multiple carries. And Dallas Clark played a huge part, something I didn't expect. The guy is flat out good. Even if they drafted Tony Gonzales to play the slot, if Clark is going to produce like that, they should stick with it.

What a game though... the Colts looked dominant. If the Colts D can keep teams to in between 10-17 points for a few years, Peyton will have Brady beat easily in the "rings" category. It's about time Manning got some D that Brady had all those years.

Colts looked great, if they play the way they did I dont see anyone beating them.
