Welcome, newbie. I am new myself and having a hell of a time navigating my way thru this maze or just finding someone half normal to talk to. Everytime I think I have found someone, they disappear. Good luck!

I have found the FAQ to be very helpful, although I'm not sure how to put someone on ignore.

From the poster's user profile, reachable by clicking on their name, then "view public profile," click on "Add *user* to your ignore list."

I have one poster on my ignore list, two have me on theirs. Please let me know if you intend on adding me, I like to keep track of such things.

Yes, that is my intention, Napsterbater. I no long wish to read your negative comments to me.

Rock on! It greatly amuses me when people are so sensitive they have to take such steps to protect oneself, against nothing more than mere words and images, and mild ones, at that. The other two posters who put me on ignore withstood far worse abuse. Such painful inadaptibility does not speak well for your survivability in the world. Such is the folly of beauty, it seems.

Excuse me?
I am not a member here to "withstand abuse", I joined for the adult conversation and intellect, both of which you seem to lack.

"Seem to," is the operative phrase here. Start a discussion I care to participate in, and I'll do so. Start one I'm not interested in, and I usually stay out of it. Taking potshots at me about being creepy, or calling me out in general, will only earn you invective. I was perfectly nice to you when you got here. You chose to take it as something else.

I've been here a long-ass time. I think I know a thing or two about getting along here. One of the things that makes these boards such an inviting place is the fact that at the end of the day, none of us really dislike each other. You might find people attacking each other left and right, but it's all just an act, one that allows us a pleasurable escape. I would not have been allowed to post here as long as I have if I couldn't show some compassion for the people I just berated. The other two posters mentioned earlier, dharmabum and Overdose, both agree with me politically. I wish them no ill, and am personally very glad we have them. Our personalities just lend ourselves to some vicious bickering. This place isn't all candy and sweetness, and it never will be. I would like to see you jump in with both feet and make your political and religious feelings known, because you seem like a smart woman, but if you're this sensitive, I'm afraid it'll never happen. Or you'll turn into one of those who can't stop going on about how rude we are. I know you didn't come here for that, but that's just one of the things we do, and you should understand why.

Welcome to the monkey house dmsims. We are just one big hap...er dysfunctional family. If you can take it here for a month or so, you likely will become addicted. :D The pills will help or liquor, or a combo. Maybe not your physical pain though. Sorry to have read about all your bad luck.

WELL it helps to be a little nutty to stay around here... as for your husband, it could be worse, he might have stayed, what a pleasant time THAT would have been. :woohoo:

You got that right, Sal...revenge is best served cold! And I ended up much better off because I have a boyfriend who understands all about my problems and is retired so we can take long trips together. He will push me in my wheelchair when needed without complaint, unlike my ex who asked "what's for dinner" while I was restrictedto a wheel chair...what an ass..

Sparky,

Don't you think your threat to ban Fooly for calling someone a pansy was a bit strong? It was a mild invective brought about by Napsterbater's obnoxious postings that preceeded it.

I guess you didn't see where Napppy called another poster a nappy headed ho.

Don't get me wrong. I don't think he should get a warning for that.

If the mods keep acting like nicey nicey police the dynamics of the site will be lost. Part of the discussion consist of mild name calling. Tell people if they step over the line but don't make the line as strict as you seem to be doing.

Tell people if they step over the line but don't make the line as strict as you seem to be doing.I agree. Just yesterday someone said it must be hard for you to think clearly because Hannity, Limbaugh and the rest were clouding your mind. I was going to say that you don't need those guys to cloud your mind because it's cloudy already. But I didn't because that would be 'jumping into a thread just to insult someone'. Never mind that you and I trade insults all the time -- it's hard to know where the line is being drawn these days.

Yes,calling another a " pansy " are fightin words.Definately
uncalled for and rude. One wouldn't expect that word used in
public, ceptin ford when a donnybrook erupts.
But since no one herein actually know each other, personally,
than i guess it's OK.
Maybe not dough.
I generally don't like to use base invective and assuredly don't like
veiled threats.
Then again,I don't like Posters who Lie about My Country,My Flag
and My President.
In udder woyds, when the conditions exist when niceties abound,
then maybe I won't inflame.
Maybe not dough.

Why worry? The most any such comment might get you is a warning. As long as your response to the warning isn't hostile or defiant, I don't foresee any problems.

I'm truly glad not to be a mod.
What a penance that must be.
For to Know not the relative difference and import between
hostility and defiance towards one's Country,Flag and President,
over and above that of some Internet message board drivel,is
astoundingly similar to being at the Circus and giving as mush
a handclap to the Elephants as to the actual trapeze artist, who risk
their life & limb,w/o as much a peanut shell.
Same as round hears,I imagine.
Goot tink I ain't set to perform tills tomorrow.

Our responses to the jocular insults you and I trade back and forth has usually been a smiley face and a comment like, "That was funny", or, "Well done." We're not a bunch of monks and nuns and sometimes things will be said that wouldn't be said in a monastery or nunnery. So what.
