OK, I didnt know there was a sports thread here, so putting politics aside, I am a srious football fan, and as you can tell by the name of the thread, a 49er fan, have been all my life. I was very impressed with Tim Rattay, and as a Garcia hater, I am glad to see Rattay do so well, which I knew he could, after seeing him play in pre season and a few other games during the regular season over the past few years. after all this, I have come up with an interesting theory about Garcia...

It seems that garcia is very tough, which he is, and is always playing with injuries. Well, after Sundays thrashing of the Rams, I know why he forces himself to play hurt every week. he knew Rattay was better than him, and he knew if he stepped down for a week, Rattay would go in and shine and he might be out of a job. What do you think?

Peterson is not the best LB in the NFL. That honor belongs to Derrick Brooks, thank you very much.

I haven't heard very much about Rattay, but I thought Garcia was a VERY good QB. False assumption?

I will agree that Derrick Brooks is a fine LB, one of the best, but as far as utility, and play anywhere ability, Julian Petterson is the best, he played seven different positions on defense in one game! The guy is a stud. I also think Ray Lewis is better than brooks, but no disrespect to brooks, he is also the man.

As far as Garcia goes, he was a very good QB, but so was Kurt Warner. He has not done well in the new downfield pasing attack installed by Dennis erickson, in fact he has sucked. he can not throw a pass accuratly past 15 yards. time after time he overthrows, or underthrows, it is sad. He also shows absolutly no poise. He jumps around like a jack-rabbit. I call him Twitch. Rattay stood in the pocket and found his recievers, going 4/5 with throws over 20 yards, and a TD. Garcia is done. he was cut out for the old dink and dunk/QB scramble offense. His lack of accuracy past 15 yards severly restricts him in our new offense. Ken Dorsey will be a great QB someday for us as well.

The NFL is littered with QBs that had one good game, never to be heard from again. It'll be interesting to see how he fares next time he plays. Garcia is probably a pure west-coast offense QB, which would explain why Erickson's offense doesn't suit him.

Of course the big question is whether or not TO can get along with him (or anyone, for that matter).

yes, that's what I said lionel, he is a dink and dunk QB. And Rattay is a good QB, just never had a chance to start. I hope he stands up to the test of time, but if not thre is always Dorsey! TO has been asking to put Rat, as he calls him, in the line up for weeks!
