View Full Version : Welcome Micheal Vick

I heard during a press conference that Mike Vick said he is giving his life to God. Now, I'm not sure what his intentions are, if it's a public relations move, if he's just sorry he got caught, or if he is sincere.... but I'd just like to welcome Mr. Vick into the christian community, whether or not he takes it seriously. I hope a relationship with God helps him deal with the problems and troubles he has had in the past and is having.. and will improve his life in the future...

Yeah...after murdering a bunch of dogs and lying to his fans, his team and everyone else that was paying attention...NOW he turns to God.
Well there's no better time. Hopefully he means it and sticks to it...though I'm weary of star people when they say that for, as Decka said, possible publicity stunts.

Who knows what goes throught someone's heart when he finally has to face the music his life has been playing? Maybe something good can come out of all the attention his idiotic behavior has brought him.

Yeah...after murdering a bunch of dogs and lying to his fans, his team and everyone else that was paying attention...Murder is a little over the top, huh? And of course he lied. He didn't want to get caught.
NOW he turns to God.
Should he want until he gets it all straightened out?

I don't think he should be able to play anymore. He is going to have to squeal on others too I bet!

I just think it's the job of a christian to be there for someone in their greatest time of need... obviously someone talked to mike vick about it... reguardless of what he has done, whether you like it or not, you still can forgive him and hope he becomes something better.

On one thread there is discussion about how these pit bulls are no damn good dogs, and on another there's a call to treat the guy as a murderer. It's nuts.

I don't agree with what he did, I think it takes a cold heart to do what he did, but life throws curveballs at you all the time. Perhaps this occurance is the act that will start Mr. Vick's walk with God.. who knows. I was harsh on what he did, in the social aspect it was horrid. But I also know that as a christian you should send out love to those even your personal feelings might be getting in the way of. Thats what christians SHOULD be doing.. sending out love to those in need.

I never got why people "turn to God" when things are going badly for them. You'd think people would turn to God when things were going good; obviously God was blessing him or her right?

Murder, executed...a living thing died, nuff said. (and before anybody says it...killing a dog is different than swatting a fly.)
Should he want until he gets it all straightened out?
Why wasn't he turned to God to begin with? And why did it take such a heinous act such as this for him to finally decide it was right to turn towards him?

I see no conflict. Maybe the reason the dogs are vicious is because they are trained to be and by generations of inbreeding. As another poster noted elsewhere, maybe a few generations of different treatment for these dogs would result in more handable dogs. Vick was merely perpetuating the dogs' meanness, and god help his neighbors if those dogs ever got out. I believe THAT"S what bothered the authorities so, and esp the NFL--the gambling involved.

Murder, executed...a living thing died, nuff said. (and before anybody says it...killing a dog is different than swatting a fly.)Sure, and murder is different than killing a dog. We don't need the histrionics added to the matter. It's bad enough as it is.
Why wasn't he turned to God to begin with?No one is right with God to begin with.
And why did it take such a heinous act such as this for him to finally decide it was right to turn towards him?More histrionics. Still, consider: it is often not the "heinous" act which forces a person to reexamine himself, but rather the realities of actions they had never considered, when brought to them through some crisis. This is a very normal process.

And, uh, Vick is not facing imminent death in this matter. Would that make his "change of heart" more real for you?

Just for the record, I started the thread on pit bulls. It has absolutely nothing to do with Michael Vick. I've also posted about how I think Vick is getting a bad rap....kindof like a certain Oklahoma police officer!

That's not my plan at all. Christianity has been proved to be phony (as all religions) over and over again. Anyway, my point was that today's christians preach that no matter what you do, it is ok as long as you believe in jesus. Doesn't make sense to me.

I don't think you can "prove" christianity to be wrong... but you can't "prove" it's right. If it COULD be proven, then that would make it pretty easy on us right? I think God tests us, every day and in all of our lives.
As for "doing whatever"... chances are if you have a relationship with God, you won't be shooting people for their jacket or stealing money. Certain behaviors do go with being a stereotypical christian.. and unfortunately not all of them are positive.

Am I the only one who doesn't believe he should get jail time? I know he may have killed a few dogs but puttin him in prison for a year isn't going to do anything. Plus, I think it's a little excessive. He's already loss millions of dollars and his career. Give em a break. But that's just my opinion.

Do the crime...do the time.
Sorry I dont think he should get a break. He did what he did and now he has to pay the consequences. And I dont feel sorry for him losing his career or millions of dollars. He obviously knew what he was doing was wrong so he brought that on himself.
As for him turning to God... that's between him and God.

Most Christians strive to do good but they will never be perfect. If they were they would already be in Heaven. So yes as someone who believes in Jesus and striving to do the right thing every day... I believe I will be forgiven when I do wrong.
And I've never heard a preaching telling me I can do whatever I want to as long as I believe in Jesus. Because those who really truly believe WON'T be out looking to do bad things.

I have no problem judging him harshly. Who are we to judge? WE are supposed to protect the weak that's who we are. You know, like kids, old people and animals. This guy has behavior lower than a pit bull.

Pfffft, you are so right there. We forget everyday just how our politicians screw us over so why not count on that stupidity extending to this fool. However I doubt if the NFL are that forgetful or stupid, they are a business.

Uh, no. Football star/celebrity commits felonious crime in which the loss of life is involved. The only difference is OJ had a racist attorney, and preyed on the naiviety of the jury
Once Vick's convicted, the SPCA should be allowed to pass sentence
