View Full Version : My recent banning
Frogger
08-24-2007, 07:28 PM
I was recently banned by Vilepagan. I was banned for three days and warned that if I did not toe the line, the line that Vilepagan drew without consulting the other moderators, I would be banned again, this time for a longer period of time.
I seriously considered not posting at Allforums any more but then I read Overdose’s comments and decided I would not allow some spoiled little child to gloat. I would return to posting at Allforums. However, I would return on my own terms, not some arbitrary terms set up by a moderator with whom I have a history of mutual dislike.
There is an inordinate amount of trollish behavior in which certain posters post purposely inciting posts. These posts are placed for the sole purpose of poking other posters in the eye with a verbal or visual stick. It happens with politics and it happens with religion. In both areas certain posts are allowed to go unchallenged while others are not. I think most of your remember Vilepagan admitting that he probably reacts less unfavorably to
Christian bashing than someone who is religious. An admission like that should be enough for him to admit that he is not and cannot be an impartial moderator and should be sufficient cause for him to voluntarily give up the job. A moderator’s personal feelings should not enter into what he does and does not do as a moderator.
Recently a thread was started that had the sole purpose of insulting the daughter of President Bush. It was not started to engender debate but rather to demean the young lady who had just announced her engagement. I called the person who started the thread a, “little shit’. I could have ignored the initial post or I could have chosen my words more carefully but the video was posted for the purpose of angering other posters and it succeeded.
Vilepagan as so often is the case with him became angry with me and issued as public warning. He could have just as easily written to me in private or he could have posted asking that I remove my post since he felt it was out of place. He chose to do neither. Instead he chose to issue what was not even a veiled threat. I think the words he used were, “this is a warning”.
I responded in two ways. First I sent Vilepagan a nasty personal message. He used the public forum for the second time to try to embarrass me publicly and I told him in private exactly what I thought of him. My private words to him were very harsh but I retract none of them. Remember, this is the same Vilepagan who previously posted the contents of another private message in open forum in an attempt to embarrass me.
Vilepagan responded by telling me, in effect, that I had to respect him and if I didn’t I would pay. Being a person who does not respond well to threats I posted that in my opinion Vilepagan was not fit to be a moderator and should remove himself from that position. For having the temerity to not kowtow to Vilepagan I was banned. Under the reason given for bannnig was, NONE so I can only surmise that I was banned because I didn’t cower in fear when warned that I had better not piss Vilepagan off.

You have been banned for the following reason:NoneDate the ban will be lifted: 08-22-2007, 05:00 PM
A while back another moderator allowed his personal animosity for a particular poster to cause him to do what he should not have done. The difference between es347fan and Vilepagan is the fact that es347fan recognized the fact that he was allowing his personal feeling to decide how he moderated and he did the adult thing and resigned his position. Es347fan realized that all posters are equal and that the job of a moderator is to make the running of the site as smooth as possible, not to use the power that comes with the position to “get” certain posters. It seems Vilepagan subscribes to Snowball the pig’s Animal Farm doctrine that, “All animals are created equal but some are created more equal than others.”
If a forum is to remain viable its participants can not post in fear that if they annoy one of the moderators they will be banned. I was warned by Vilepagan to basically not annoy him by posting comments about his moderation. For me to refrain from posting that I think Vilepagan is an extremely poor choice as a moderator and that he should resign the position would be for me to give up my freedom of speech. It would be bowing to censorship by a person I consider a tin pot dictator who allows his personal likes and dislikes to color his decisions.
When I think a moderator has stepped over the line, be that moderator Borghunter, Sparky, or Vilepagan I will say the same. I will say it without fear for to do anything less would be to diminish myself.
There are people who like me and there are people who do not like me. That is in the nature of chat rooms. I welcome comments from people who like me and accept them from those who do not like me. That is also something that should be in the nature of chat rooms.
I don’t think Vilepagan should be a moderator. I think he should do the same adult thing es347fan did and voluntarily step down. I state this publicly and if my doing so means Vilepagan will once again ban me, so be it.. Better to be banned than to be scared into not being able to say what one thinks.
If I am once again banned anyone who wishes to contact me can email me at frogger1943@verizon.net

Frogger, you got warned. You ignored the warning, and told Vile to flip off. Holy shit, I've never seen someone so self-righteous before. You didn't see me making page long threads bitching and moaning after I got back from my two week ban, and I had more to be pissed off about than you. I explained my position, but in the thread created after I got banned.
In short, suck it up, and move on.
Vile's a great mod. Anyone who could take the kind of abuse I gave him awhile back without going apeshit has to be on a relatively even keel. I've gotten warned before, but I do not care to take battles too seriously. You seem to want the ability to be a fucking bastard and never get called on it. I might get bad sometimes, but I back off when the mods tell me to. Quit being a little bitch, take it as a learning experience, and move on. Nobody cares.

Not being online at Allforums was a sort of welcome vacation. I paint 1/72 scale figures, mainly medieval figures but also some from the Napoleanic Wars and WWs I and II. It gave me a chance to paint a few more knights and archers for a diorama I am setting up of a Saracen siege of a Crusader castle.

Hey! I agree with you...
Honestly, when anyone posts a strong point that Frogger can't argue against, he resorts to emotion. And when people call him on that, he says the poster has a personaltiy flaw -- so obviously he's right in the argument because the poster he's debating with has a flaw. Pretty clever scapegoat,"I don't have to argue with you anymore because I'm obviously correct because you have issue #1, issue #2 and issue #3, so how could you be right about anything???"--but luckily, everyone can see past that bullshit. Frogger just has an inferiority complex and lets his ego get the best of him.
Sadly, no one cares that Frogger's ego was damaged. He tends to walk around Allforums like he thinks he's on a pedestal, and that everyone should bow down to him...like he's King Frogger. Luckily, he was finally put in his place -- and he just can't take it, what a little whiner.

The funny thing is, Overdose asked me to please be nice to him and said how much he liked me. I guess he feels like he has been scorned because I simply gave him a short response saying I didn't dislike him. You know what they say, "Hell hath no fury like an Overdose scorned."

Wow, my history professor from last semester does that (don't ask why I know or remember that)... Then again, he's an old guy like you Frogger. Welcome back. :D
As to the original post... goddamn you are mighty self satisfied. But I like it. Great post anyways, I almost agree with you completely. However, I don't think Vile should step down. He is not completely unbiased, I agree with that part, but you seem to think that it's possible, even expected, for mods to be unbiased. All moderators are people. They are going to act on their personal feelings quite often, as all people do.

Considering his attempt to wrap himself in the First Amendment, I'd say "self-righteous".
But I like it. Great post anyways, I almost agree with you completely. However, I don't think Vile should step down.
Neither does Vile. :)

Yeah, we had a conversation about that some months back where I said something to the effect that no one is ever completely unbiased. That's why he mentioned in his post that I had "admitted" to be being biased. Of course he couldn't mention that in his post or he wouldn't have had a point to make.
BTW Frogger, you don't have any First Amendment rights on allforums. As Lionel put it very succinctly in another thread:
I feel the need to point out a few things:
1) AllForums is not a democracy. Justice may be dealt out randomly, unequally, and without warning. That's life in a dictatorship. Deal with it.
2) There's no freedom of speech in or on privately owned property.
You also had some good advice that you dispensed in that thread:
Napsterbater gave you a good piece of advice; don't come here and instantly expect people to modify their behavior to suit you....We sometimes have our little tiffs but we get over them and pretty much like each other. If you want to be happy here you will have to make yourself fit in to our site not make our site fit into your view of what it should be.
This is basically a no whine zone. All you have done for the last few days is whine....
Grow up, suck it up and stop your whining.

You don't like being told to STFU. Big deal. I don't like it either. I doubt other posters like it. What makes you so special that it can be said to others but not to you? I called a poster a little shit. You told me to not do it again and threatened me. I didn't do it again. I did say I thought you were a crappy monitor but I guess posters aren't allowed to do that since you consider yourself to be more sacrosant than other posters.
Other people have been told to shut the fuck up with no repercussions. In fact we have an icon that has :stfu and another that has :upyours: . What makes you so special that you can't be told to STFU?

Then perhaps you should stop saying it to people.
What makes you so special that it can be said to others but not to you?
You can say it to me all you want, but when you say it to a mod immediately after he's given you a warning, you'll get some time off. Simple really.
I called a poster a little shit. You told me to not do it again and threatened me.
Correction, you were warned not to do it again. Calling it a threat is just your way of playing the victim here. This all started because you can't control what you say.
I didn't do it again. I did say I thought you were a crappy monitor but I guess posters aren't allowed to do that since you consider yourself to be more sacrosant than other posters.
Frogger, you can post a thread every day stating your opinions of me as a mod and I couldn't care less. When I send you a warning, if you tell me to STFU, you'll get some time off. I don't care if you see a difference, or if you agree with my position or not, that's the way it's going to be.
Other people have been told to shut the fuck up with no repercussions. In fact we have an icon that has :stfu and another that has :upyours: . What makes you so special that you can't be told to STFU?

PM #1:
Well, I decided to send you a message just because I don't think we have to totally dislike each other. There are a few members on this forum I've given up on, Napster, Imp and ES to be exact...but for some reason I haven't given up on you.
Anyway, maybe you will always dislike me, but I honestly think you're a good person deep-down.
So, take this for what it's worth.
PM #2:
I'm sad that whenever I show you something that proves what you originally thought might not be true, you just disregard it.
1. You were bashing my town as not being as "rich" as I made it out to seem. Then I showed you that Lake Oswego is indeed wealthy and educated. More-so then your town. You don't care.
2. You were bashing me about college and how I don't work for anything, but yet my college plan is the VERY plan you gave your children and I will be working down on campus at Oregon State. Plus I worked to get the grades to GO to a state school, not a community college. You don't care.
If you think I'm a horrible person and nothing I can say will change your mind, fine. But why even bother talking to me or debating with me?
I honestly do respect you, but I didn't want to drag my personal feelings out anymore in that thread. Soooo, I'm doing it through a PM.
-OD
PM #3:
I looked into what Borg suggested and I'm most likely going to do what he showed me and I thanked him for his help.
Then F. de Marzipan told me that a state school is affordable, even though she didn't take housing, food, books and personal expenses into consideration. I wasn't "complaining" or "whining"...I was pointing out that going to a state school isn't as cheap as she was making it out to seem. She seemed to think tuition is all you have to pay, and that's not true -- even if you live at home you still have to pay thousands for books, food and personal items.
All of what happened wasn't me "complaining" or "whining". I never said I couldn't afford to go to a state school and live on campus. So why did F. de Marzipan even offer anything else, when I don't need another option for college and when I didn't ask for another option?
The problem you have is that whenever someone shows you where you're wrong, you never admit to it. My college plan isn't a plan set out for a "brat"...it is the same plan you gave your children, are they brats? Honestly, I will be working...just like your children did. I also showed you that Lake Oswego has an average income of over 100,000 dollars, MORE than your previous town. And it is also the 32nd best place to live in the United States according to CNN (YOUR town wasn't even on the list!). We also have a more educated population than your town too.
Just admit you may have made a few mistakes when judging the community I live in and that you made a few mistakes when judging the plan I have for college.
Those are the 3 PM's I have that I sent you King Frogger. I don't see where I said I liked you soooooooo much -- maybe I'm missing one or two PM's?
I've highlighted the parts where I've said semi-nice things to you, but nothing along the lines of, "Don't be mean to me" and "I like you so much"...like WTF is that all about King Frogger? Trying to blow things out of proportion to fit your agenda???
PS: I won't post your egotistical, King-Frogger style posts. Whiner.

I 'm tired of cooking too. Not that I ever cook more than bacon and eggs or fried chicken. We have that about every day. I believe in cooking what you like to eat, but I've never understood women or men who slave over a hot stove for hours on end, then to see it disappear in a few short minutes when placed on the table like you're putting it before pigs at a trough.
Hubby cooks too, or he calls it that, but you really wouldn't want to actually EAT it. Looks fairly well tho.

You should have seen when hubby cooked goulash on the grill. It was all lash and no goo.
My ex mom in law would spend literally DAYS preparing for family dinners. she was Italian, and you know how they are about cooking. Then when her family came to visit/freeload a free meal, she would eat in the kitchen like the hired help. I felt sorry for her. I'd help her clean the kitchen--it was the least I could do, even tho it looked like a missile site.

LOL, even tho, I miss my grandma's cooking. She taught Home-Ec for over 40 years and was the best cook ever--the very best of Hoosier farm cooking that you just don't see anymore.
She'd go all out for Sunday dinners--chicken-fried steak smothered in gravy, homemade biscuits with real churned butter, succotash, peach cobbler, cole slaw, deviled eggs, and her specialty, Mississippi mudslide cake.
Sometimes she'd cook roast beef so succulent it'd literally melt in your mouth, with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes or potato salad, and pineapple upside down cake.
I'd give a lot to have just one more of grandma's dinners, sitting around the old dining room table.

It's like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde or something. That or they'd get knocked flat on their ass the first time they said something to the wrong person.

Foolie,
No, I don't beat my meat when I am cooking. I do beat THE meat when I am making rouladen though.
1.Take the best round steak your butcher has and have him slice it thin.
2. Use a meat tenderizing hammer and pound THE meat until the fibers are broken down and it is very thin and has increased in area by about 3/4.
3. Spead a good, grainey mustard on one side of the meat. I like to use a Dusseldorf mustard or if that is not available Kosciusko brand Polish mustard.
4. Cut a strip of bacon in half along its long axis and place the two resulting strips on top of the mustard.
5. Juliene a Vidalia onion and a Polish dill pickle into matchstick size. Spread the onion and pickle over the mustard and bacon strips.
6. Starting at the small end roll the meat with the filling into a jellyroll shape.
7. Tie it with butcher's thread.
8. Thoroughly brown the meat on all sides in hot, melted fat.
9. Once the meat is browned add enough beef stock with two bay leaves added to just cover the individual rollups.
10. Cook covered over low heat for a minimum of one hour. The longer the better.
11. Cook uncovered for 1/2 hour to reduce the liquid.
12. Serve with either homemade3 spetzle or boiled potatoes.
If you are using boiled potatoes keep them in the pot after you have poured off all the water they cooked in. Return the cooked potatoes to the stove and heat them dry until the starch on the outside of the potatoes explodes and puffs up. At this point the potatoes will be dry on the outside and will hold gravy much better.
This meal goes perfectly with red cabbage and a good, German beer.
Damn, I'm suddenly very hungry.

Barbeque Meat Loaf
Recipe courtesy Paula Deen (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_32839,00.html)
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 cup fresh bread crumbs
1 onion, diced
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 (8-ounce) cans tomato sauce
3 tablespoons vinegar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup water, to thin sauce if necessary
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix together the beef, bread crumbs, onion, egg, salt, pepper, and 1/2 cup of the tomato sauce. Form this mixture into a loaf and place it in a shallow pan. Stir together the remaining tomato sauce, vinegar, sugar, mustard, Worcestershire and the water (if too thick). Pour this sauce over the meatloaf. Bake for 1 hour, basting every 15 minutes with the pan juices.
Cook's Note: Try serving as a sandwich with mayonnaise.

Take filets of orange roughy (or any mild white fish). Brush lightly with butter and season with salt & pepper... place in a baking dish. Crush a bag of Cheetos until fine and sprinkle over the fish. Bake in a moderate oven for about 15-20 minutes. Mmmmmmm, good.

A little disappointing is an understatement. I was never so disappointed in a restaurant in my life. I waited on line half the morning for a one thirty reservation and when I finally got in I found both the decore and the food to be sub-standard. The chicken was pedestrian, the fish almost inedible and the salads the same as one would find in any nameless restaurant off route 95. I was so turned off by the restaurant that I can't even watch her show on the food channel any more.

Speaking of bad food/service, what's the worst restaurant you've ever been to?
I'd like to nominate an expensive Italian joint a few dozen miles from where we live.
We went there hoping to have a romantical candlelit dinner complete with strolling opera singers and the very best of fine Italian cooking, which is not my fave but always willing to try something new.
After a one hour wait in the lobby, we still had not been seated, even tho several parties of 4 or more were seated ahead of us. We must not have been dressed up enough, even tho I was wearing my old prom dress from the 70's and Bubba had freshly pressed overalls.
We were about to head on out the door and go to Burger King when the surly waitress led us to our table which had a fine view of the dumpster and, across the street, the sewage treatment plant.
After another lenghthy wait, we were treated to soggy breadsticks, glasses of Ripple, and wilted lettuce salad, wherupon we decided to just go. Weren't worth the trouble for this pigslop. Bubba was grumpily paying the bill when the waitress came running up, declaring that our meal was just now ready. We "politely" said no thanks and went for real grub at the burger joint.
Can't say what the food was like cause we never had any, but the service was terrible. I'm sure they remember us too,--it's not often a waitress gets a shiny penny for a tip.

Can't think of any bad restaurant stories, but your post brought back one bad memory of a social event involving food.
I spent many years of my career working for the very wealthy in philanthropic circles. While attending a conference in Vail, CO, I was served my very first portion of caviar. Wanting to fit in despite having a bank balance of -$22, I munched on the morsels, then tried to drown out the taste by taking a sip of the expensive white wine being served. Just as I thought I had fooled the blue-bloods standing nearby, I glanced down and nearly choked. Floating in my pretty crystal wine glass were at least 10 little black BB's that evidently got caught in the backwash. I was mortified.
Like the poster sez -- "Welcome to the wonderful world of philanthropy -- you've paid for your last fancy dinner and received your last sincere compliment."

And no, please, no more recipes from Frogger. Never trust a man who wears a powdered wig.
Admit it, Rendova, men are better cooks than women. I love to cook but usually more complicated recipes and not simple stuff although last night I barbecued rib eyes and salmon steaks for three couples along with baked potatoes, baked yams and grilled asparagus with Parmasano Regiano. Before I developed diabetes I used to cook a lot of Chinese food. I still have 19 Chinese cookbooks. Nowadays I cook mmainly low carb stuff like cauliflower mashers. (Very finely chopped cauliflower covered with cheddar cheese and crumbled, crisp bacon and green onions.) It takes the place of mashed potatoes with hardly any carbs.

Women growing up these days can't cook. And you can't get a decent meal at a restaurant, either. You just have to do it yourself, or let your mom cook for you!

LOL, you're right, I can't cook at all. I can make pasta, pasta sauce, oatmeal, eggs of a few types, and anything that comes from a box. :p

Usually some time between seven and eight thirty. Now that my wife and I are retired we tend to eat later than when the kids were home.

You'll get no argument from me....the best chefs in the world are men.
They have more time to fool around in the kitchen--women are too busy working.:flowers:

Okay, between the meal you described and your very well stocked liquor cabinet, it's party time at Frogger's house!
My s/o is a great cook, too. I enjoy every single thing he's ever cooked for us. I raised three hungry boys, so it was always like cooking for an army. I'm now able to enjoy cooking for pleasure right along beside him.

I've always had a well stocked bar. It began back when I was a drinker. I figured if I was going to drink I was going to drink the best I could afford and not some cheap rotgut. I have just kept the habit of buying good liquor. I also have just about every time of alcoholic potable you can think of, Ouzo, Grappa, Bourbon, Gin, Light Rum, Dark Rum, Coconut Rum, Clear Sambuca, Black Sambuca, Vodka, Scotch, Canadian Club, Rye, Galiano, Cognac, Schnapps, Twquila, Sake. You never know what people will want to drink and if something isn't all that popular with your friends it never goes bad. You can keep a good bottle of whiskey for centuries without it spoiling. I have bottles I picked up in the Caribbean that haven't been opened yet and I have had them for over fifteen years but one day someone will say, "Hey, can I try that?"

I'm no expert on liquor for sure, but I appreciate your taste! I've seen Imp talk about Sambuca and I have to admit, I do not know what that is. Could you elaborate?
