BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- A federal jury awarded a white man $150,000 in a reverse racial discrimination lawsuit Wednesday.
Mark Pasternak, who is white, said he was dismissed from his state job helping troubled youths because he could not tolerate being called names like "cracker," "polack" and "stupid white boy."

An all-white jury decided this one...sounds like they wanted to get the antagonist for a hefty sum of money.
Tolerance is dead.

Also, what the hell is "reverse racism"?

reverse racism is black people hating on white people because of their skin. TECHNICALLY that IS racism.. but for some reason RACISM only pertains to black people... and now "reverse racism" is white people...
what a crock of shit

I don't understand, either, how its "reverse racism." Sounds like something to make the severity of the case a little less intrusive. Racism is racism, there's no lesser meaning of the word.

From reading this snippet it seems that the verbal abuse was coming from the "troubled youths" and therefore it would be a ridiculous claim. When you read the article it becomes clear that the verbal abuse was coming from his supervisor. A different matter entirely.

So,who exactly Determines if a case is Racial.?
The ACLU or NAACP. Both of whom are Race-baiting
instituitions of Higher unfairness.
the NAACP is run by a Racist A$$KLOWN,namely Julian Bond.
And ever since the once fair and honorable ACLU was truned uber
to the likes of late,Wild-haired William Kunstler, who of
- " Chicago Seven " - fame and also Director of the ACLU in the

The term - " Reverse Racism " - is another way of saying
Reverse Discrimination.Which addresses the POLICY of
that which was established to CORRECT those discriminatory practices
against certain minority or disadvantaged groups.
White Middle-class and Poor Men,have become THE Nouveau
group du jour that has lost its standing as protected.
White Middle Class men,are subject to all kinds of Racist
jeerings,based on past history.
They are now the ones faced with discrimination in Education and
the workplace due to rampant Affirmative Action mindsets.

Uhm, that's not it. Reverse racism benefits smaller racial groups over the dominant racial group. Affirmative action is a perfect example of reverse racism.

I received this in an email a week or so ago and was surprised by the way it made me feel. I thought of posting it here to see if anyone else had a strong reaction to it, but couldn't bring myself to do it.
I'm gonna bite the bullet and post it here. What do you think?
PROUD TO BE WHITE
Someone finally said it.
How many actually pay attention to this fact?
There are African Americans,
Mexican Americans,
Asian Americans,
Arab Americans,
Native Americans, etc.
...And then there are just -
Americans.
You pass me on the street
And sneer in my direction.
You Call me 'White boy,'
'Cracker,' 'Honkey,'
'Whitey,' 'Caveman,'
... And that's OK.
But when I call any of you Nigger, or even Negro,
Kike, Towel head, Camel Jockey,
Beaner, Gook, or Chink
... You call me a racist.
You say that whites commit a lot
Of violence against you,
So why are the ghettos the most
Dangerous places to live?
You have the United Negro College Fund.
You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month.
You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.
You Have Yom Hashoah.
You have the NAACP.

If we had WET

If we had a White Pride Day
... You'd call us racists.
If we had White History Month
... We'd be called racists.
If we had any organization for only whites
To 'advance' OUR lives
... We'd be considered racists.
We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce,
A Black Chamber of Commerce,
And then we just have the plain
Chamber of Commerce.
Wonder who pays for that?
If we had a college fund that only gave
White students scholarships
... You know we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly-proclaimed
Black-only Colleges in the US ,
Yet if there were any 'White-only Colleges'
... IT would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March,
You believed you were marching for your race and rights.
If we marched for our race and rights,
... You'd call us racists.
You are proud to be black,
Brown, yellow and orange,
And you're not afraid to announce it.
But when we announce our white pride
... You call us racists.
You rob us,
Carjack us,
Shoot at us, Rape old women.
But, when a white police officer
Shoots a black gang member
Or beats up a black drug-dealer
Who's running from the LAW and
Posing a threat to ALL of society
... You call the officer a racist.
I am proud.
... But, you call me a racist.
Why is it that only
Whites
Are seen as racists?

I agree with ya Smarty. I received that same email, several times actually....and it's all true.
I also got really pissed off yesterday when I heard the NAACP was going to get involved in the Michael Vick crap and try to tell the NFL that they can't ban him for what he did. He would stand to lose way too much money from his salary as a player as well as commercials, etc. WELL....I think he shoulda considered that when he got into what he got into. HE decided to take that risk and only did it for the money involved. I think he should be banned from football and just because he's black doesn't give the NAACP any rights whatsoever to get involved with what the NFL determines to be a fair punishment for what he did.
I hate raciscm........why can't we just all get along? We are all Americans....aren't we? Shouldn't we all be on the same side?

Bullshit! I completely agree with the post. I'm not racist, nor do I condone racism, but I've grown real tired of every race but the white race screaming and crying and moaning about their "rights". Like Ty said, we're ALL Americans and it should just be left at that, without attaching any other nationality to it.

It was a while ago when I few posters had gotten upset that I called myself a Palestinians American. For me, it's because I live and celebrate both cultures and traditions that I like to call myself Palestinian American. Plus, I've had many encounters when I was asked what I was. And when I'd say American. They'd get confused. So I added the Palestinian American. As it turns out, they have no idea what Palestinians are. I always get "Pakistanian" or "is that like Mexican?" or " so you're Indian." The best one ever was when I had told a man I was Palestinian and he said "Oh, 9/11."
As for racism, I hate it too. I don't like any racism towards anyone and it's flat out wrong. But it has happened throughout world history and is still happening to this day. And unfortunately, it is prominent in America to this day.
Throughout American history, our government discriminated against different racial groups. And I think that is the main difference is the continued discrimination against minority races by our government. It wasn't just a single action done by members of a particular race. It was state sponsored discrimination. And our government has done this to almost every minority race living in America.

Well, googs, our government used to enforce segregated water fountains too, but all that changed about 40 years ago, so it's not like things never get better. I personally think most Americans today bend over backwards to avoid even the appearance of being a racist. I also think that's why the I'm Proud to be White article sends shivers up my spine. For some reason, alot of us have tried to be so embracing of other cultures, we seem to feel we have to be ashamed of our own heritage. Kinda sad I think.

Plus, I've had many encounters when I was asked what I was. And when I'd say American...
Question, googs. What would be the proper way to ask you about your heritage without making you feel defensive? (I'm assuming you were not born in this country, right?) I've run across the same issue myself... for example, there's a lady who works at a convenience store in my building and I've 'known' her for years now, and even came to her rescue once when she was accused of discriminating against a blind employee here because she was afraid of his guide dog. I actually acted as 'go between' with her and bldg security because I was an eyewitness to the event that she was charged with... and it was really nothing more than her being startled by the dog. However, she was accused of telling him he couldn't come into her store with the dog (which was not true).
Whether or not she's a born-in-this-country AMERICAN is not of interest to me and I doubt if it's of interest to those who ask you 'what you are.' I asked her where she was from. She told me she was from Pakistan and went on to explain to me that in her culture, dogs were not welcome inside people's homes or businesses. But she went on to say she understands American culture requires her to allow a dog into her store and she was fine with that... as long as she's safely on the other side of the counter!
I learned something from her that day, but would hate to think I insulted her in the process.
Hopefully you understand it's a delicate line to walk when it comes to inquiring about people's culture. Some of us do the best we can, but that's certainly no guarantee someone doesn't get offended.

What really is reverse racism? Is it merely a term accepted to describe a minority's bias against a majority? Is it racism if one minority discriminates against the other? Taking the incident described in the news article, had the complaintant been Hispanic or Oriental would the charge of racism been included in the charge of creating a hostile work environment?

I was born in the US. But I lived in the West Bank for a year or so. I don't have a problem with anyone asking where I am from or about my heritage. It's just the response I receive after from some people.
I've run across the same issue myself... for example, there's a lady who works at a convenience store in my building and I've 'known' her for years now, and even came to her rescue once when she was accused of discriminating against a blind employee here because she was afraid of his guide dog. I completely understand partly because I was born here and am the first generation that was born in America. I wouldn't be insulted in her case. It was real nice of you coming to her aid. And I'm sure asking her questions about her culture would make her feel a lot better and less alienated. And as for the dog thing, it's completely understandable to allow a blind man with a guide dog in your store. Or anywhere for that matter. I think it was because she was Muslim. And I'm assuming she is Muslim. Muslims usually don't like dogs because it is believed to be unclean. But if the dog is there to protect your home or used because you have a disability then it is understood. Still, my family used to have a dog before I was born. They named him Satan. He was suppose to be a guard dog but in reality he was there for fun. It was my mom's decision to get rid of him because they had a large family at a young age. She didn't want to take care of a dog and five kids.
I think it's just a matter of looking pass the color of our skin and understanding that we really do share some of the same values. For me, the occasional race jokes are funny. But when it's only one group of a particular race making jokes about another, I find it strange and offensive especially when they don't make jokes about themselves or their race. I think those are the best by the way.
I appreciate your attitude. That's the difference in you being proud of both heritages, as opposed to people who whine and moan and spend so much time and energy demanding their rights, when those rights are there all along. I know exactly what you mean. When I'm asked what I am, I say I'm American. When I'm asked where I'm from, I say New Jersey. Inevitably, the next thing they say is, "No, I mean... ", after which I tell them I'm Indian. The problem is that certain assumptions often follow (none of which are true) -- that I was born in India, that I'm an immigrant, that I'm not a U.S. citizen, that English isn't my first language, etc. I might also get ridiculous questions like, "Do you have a wife set up for you?" or "Do you speak Arabic?" Most agitating, though, is the perception some people might have that I'm "not really American," even though there's nothing besides my skin color to suggest that I'm anything but American.
For the most part, things like this are harmless and don't affect my life in any large way. Still, it's one of many things that a white or black American would almost never have to deal with. It also goes to show that Americans are still very conscious of racial differences, and that these differences are the cause of hatred among some of us.

I do not look at myself as white. I consider myself European. I was not born in this country but because my mother was i am a US citizen. I came to this country when i was 12 years old. Where i lived abroad it was very heavily influenced by the US culture,so I didn't have much of a culture shock when we came here.
However i remember the first time i was "lumped" into the same category as white Americans. i felt happy and proud. I didn't even mind it was due to an African American calling a group of us racist names.
The slur was something to the point of our people kidnapped his people and brought them here as slaves.... I had to inform him that my "people" didn't come here until 1989,and I issued him that we did not have slaves with us. I also let him know I did not come over here on some boat but a jet plane.
i am proud that i am an American. I might have been "born and raised" here, but that doesn't take away from the pride i have for this country. This country is my home. I think in order for the racism to go away all races need to stop separating themselves.
No more black awards,or Spanish speaking classes for young school children..... If we are all to look at one another as equals... we need to make ourselves equal.... This country is not going through the civil rights era. there is no need for separate anything for anyone.
during high school a former girlfriend got a small 3000 scholarship from some Latin American organization because she is from El Salvidor. She has never been to that country since she was born and doesn't have any intention too.
She refused the award and was very clear she did not want to get an award thats main premise was her country of origin not her accomplishments..... I am sure they passed it on to the next person on the list.. but that act spoke volumes of what this country needs to do to completely and soundly remove racism from out mind frames

To many people, in this country, do not want the racism removed. Their sole enjoyment, in life, is pointing out how different they are, and how they should receive special treatment, because of that difference.

You don't think that elementary school children should learn Spanish? I believe I already went over the benefits of bilingual people for both the society and the individual, in another thread. Do I have to go over them again? ;)

i am talking about classes taught in grades k-12 that are only in Spanish. it all played into the whole theme of the post of races being separate by choice.
I am a huge fan for bilingual studies... (I am sorry if i didn't catch your self imposed lecture. if I send a self addressed stamped envelop can i get a transcript?)

I don't think it should be limited to Spanish. Give the kids a choice, between Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Korean, what ever. Hell, the more languages a person can speaks, the better. However, everyone, in this country, needs to speak, read and write English. Not demand that everything be printed in multiple languages, just because they don't want to learn English.

O.K .... here is a back round of what i mean. Living in the "sticks" of Maryland you might not even be aware of what I'm talking about....
My former girlfriend has a niece. She lived in Southeast Houston area and she is 8 years old. The start of her second grade you the teacher send a bunch of papers home explaining who she is,what she wants to do with the children over the course of the year ect.....
All these documents were in Spanish. and on the back in very poor grammar a hugely summed up version of English. it was almost laughable at the mistakes in spelling etc,,,,
no mind you this young girl i am speaking of his Hispanic. She was born in the US,her parents were born in the US,and alot of people on at least one side of her parents family where born in the US. (alot of people in Houston didn't cross the boarder.the boarder crossed them) The little girl doesn't speak Spanish at all except a few nouns and songs here and there. Her parents can communicate in Spanish, but would not fare well if they moved to a only Spanish speaking country.
They were upset,as the little girl told them most of the class was being taught in Spanish, then translated in English. Even more upset to learn a large majority of the class didn't speak a lick of English.
After meeting with school officials and the teacher it was clear that school in general was in Spanish. ALot of schools in Houston have ESL(English second language)up until 5th grade. Which is for kids who do not know alot of English are taught in Spanish and taught English at the same time. By the time they reach 5th grade they are expected to know English and tossed in with the rest of the their peers)
I have nothing against ESL classes in any language... but for a society to have children raised with no effort to speak English, sent to school like that and to have the school just "go with the flow" is a perfect example of a classification of people choosing to be separate, and an aspect of society that will shelter it.
So

As a side note I can speak Spanish. I never sat down and decided to learn it but living in a neighborhood where Spanish is the first language of the majority i had no choice but to "absorb" it. I can communicate in Spanish and read Spanish enough to co-exist. I do not think is mandatory for all people to learn English in this country... but my god you can only benefit from it. I benefit from my learning Spanish. One should not expect to be catered to in any other language other than English while in this country.. In my neighborhood there are people who have lived here 30 plus years and dint know a lick of english.... I say no problem. but dont expect things to be given to you in your choice of language because you refuse to learn.

I completely agree with you, LiquidFork. And I have not always lived in the sticks as you call them... I went to elementary school in the middle of Washington, D.C. At least half my class didn't speak much English, and they every kid in there spoke a different language than the non-English speaker before them. I had a friend from Venezuela, a couple friends from Russia, a friend from Bosnia, a friend from Spain, a friend from Korea, one from Egypt, one from Ethiopia, and one from Sri Lanka.
I forget what my point was.
Anyways I agree.

Lets see...racist moron supervisor
racist moron e-mailing "proud to be white" shit.
Someone finally said it.
How many actually pay attention to this fact?
There are African Americans,
Mexican Americans,
Asian Americans,
Arab Americans,
Native Americans, etc.
...And then there are just -
Americans.
You pass me on the street
And sneer in my direction.
You Call me 'White boy,'
'Cracker,' 'Honkey,'
'Whitey,' 'Caveman,'
... And that's OK.
But when I call any of you Nigger, or even Negro,
Kike, Towel head, Camel Jockey,
Beaner, Gook, or Chink
... You call me a racist.
You say that whites commit a lot
Of violence against you,
So why are the ghettos the most
Dangerous places to live?
You have the United Negro College Fund.
You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month.
You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.
You Have Yom Hashoah.
You have the NAACP.
And you have BET. I love this crap. First he says that he's the real "american", the average joe, the way things should be. Then goes on to cry and cry that black people are exploited by marketing with "their own" television station, y'know because every single other station on TV is marketed towards whites. Ghettos being dangerous, oh you mean when people segregated and impoverished they go into survival mode? You mean that any black "star" who is promoted on the radio can only talk about 'cappin niggers, bitches and hoes' while those singing about unity and resistance are marginalized by the power elite? Black History month must certainly be a huge threat when compared to murderous, theiving, white, european history that everyone takes as fact. Oh and I also love how he states MLK Jr day is only for black people...what a racist twat.
Those poor poor white boys...when will the world ever give them an honest chance in life... *cry*

Then about you you respond to this...
why the fuck are there scholarships that in order for you to win,you have to be black first and your accomplishments second... I am not talking about poor neighborhoods and such... i am talking about monies set aside for only African americans...... You claim all television is marketed towards whites.....THat is the biggest crock of bullshit i ever seen. UPN is about 90% sitcoms that have a 100% black cast. MTV,VH1 ect... showcase about 80% R and B and hip hop.... they have shows like "pimp my ride" "cribs" ect.... Comedy central has many shows that feature blacks/hispanics... mind of mencina,Dave chappel.. ect.... Most of the movies i see on there are targeted to wards blacks like the Friday series ect....
If you are complaining because the history channel,CNN,and the major networks do not showcase crap for content do not have advertising for "crunk juice",or 3000 rims. That is not my fault... Not my fault at all...
In fact if I was an educated black man I would be demanding that shows like Flavor of love, and other shows that take my race back 40 years are taken off the air...
And if you call selling crack on the streets, ripping cars bare and put on cinder-blocks in a matter of minutes, prostitution, and stealing survival mode... Then sir you are not only very ignorant as to what is going on in the world, you are a prime example on why society allows this element to endure. You look for excuses for this behavior
I lived in a really really bad part of Houston. Those who are familiar with H-town is was the Cullen/gulf gate area.... There was poor whites, blacks, and browns all struggling to Survive as you call it... those people of any color who choose to take the path of crime and destruction to "survive" speaks volumes of their personal upbringing, their morals, work ethic and values.... not the condition of their neighborhood.

I can't even remember the last time I've been called "cracker," "honky," "whitey," "caveman." But I hear my coworkers complaining about the black people they see on the streets all the time. But I can't say I really blame them. There's tons of them out there, and they vastly outnumber the whites. I wouldn't know how many of them have night jobs, and how many of them push dope, and I really don't care to find out.

I never did. My point was that the ghettos as a product of 'white america' and disempowerment. That means white people helped to create the god aweful mess.

And again you are confusing two different things. You are confusing people with what is marketed to them.
People as social animals and as such look for role modeling. If you took someone and the were shown only the obnoxious behaviour of almost everyone on TV you would end up with an obnoxious person. This does not absolve the person of responsibility for the actions, it merely works to explain why they act certain ways in certain instances.
What a completely misguided asswipe you are, 500. In light of the quoted text above, calling you a plotless melodrama of uneventful life would be far too kind. Wow. you act this way to my critique of the e-mail you not a single word about the horribly racist e-mail itself...
