The point is you are a crappy moderator, Vilepagan. You have a hardon for me and have shown it on more than one occassion. You have revealed private posts about me in public forum and now you have threatened me in public forum rather than writing a pm. Is it any wonder I consider you to be unworthy of being a moderator.
The Youtube video was posted for one reason only, to heap scorn on President Bush. Posting it was a little shit thing to do and I called him on it. You don't like it, write me a private message.
It is about time for you to get over yourself. You aren't as impressive as you think you are. You are simply a legend in your own mind.
When you publically warn people for calling others scum, etc. then you can get on your high horse about me calling someone a little shit. Until then STFU.

Oh come on.
Surely after his having lied this country into a murderous and utterly illegitimate war in Iraq, after getting 3200 American troops killed for nothing, after getting 600,000+ Iraqis killed for nothing, after wasting over 700 billion taxdollars for nothing, it is not too much for someone to heap a little well deserved scorn on our pathetic "leader".

You have demonstrated a rather blatant dislike for what Frogger posts. Frogger's postings are really no different than those of many others on here and they don't seem to get banned.
To begin with, the vid should have been posted in Humor, and should be moved there. The video is a piece of crap and the poster clearly demonstrates through that and other posts that all are attempts to glean favor from the likes of other Bush bashers populating the forum. Back off of Frogger.

You lost me with that one. My point is that Frogger's banning had nothing whatever to do with the content of the video. I didn't even watch the whole thing. What I did see wasn't impressive. Frogger got banned because he couldn't control his temper and resist the urge to flip off a mod. That has to have consequences or we have no business having mods.

Again, and hopefully for the last time, Frogger was warned about making posts that were nothing but an insult to another poster. He was banned temporarily for ignoring that warning, and "flipping off" a mod. The mods have a limited toolbox with which to deal with problems. We can give a poster a "warning" and after that a temporary ban is the least of our enforcement options. If the warnings are to be taken even somewhat seriously, what would you have me do?

I can agree with you to a point. There were three reasons why I posted the warning publicly. Firstly, my warning wasn't just for his benefit, it was for everyone's benefit. One comment I hear all the time is "why are my posts the only ones to be singled out"?. When all moderating is done by PM it gives people the illusion they're being singled out. Secondly, his insult was posted publicly, and yet I'm supposed to take his feelings into account and post my mild rebuke in private? Respect is a two-way street. If he doesn't respect his fellow posters enough to treat them with a minimum level of courtesy, and not clot up the boards with his "you're a little shit" comments, then he deserves no special treatment from me, IMO. Thirdly, it was done for the sake of consistency. Another poster was publicly warned about stepping into a thread to post an insult, and I see no reason to treat posters differently from one another.

weighing in on this.........
Back in the days when I was active at the History Channel Forums, it was par for the course to dump on Bill and Hillary all day long (they were Co-President's at the time for those of you in Rio Linda). However, it was pretty much an unspoken agreement that Bill's daughter was to be left alone. Our beefs, and they were many, were with Bill Clinton and Chelsea should be left alone to be the young girl she was. Ugly satire wasn't to be heaped on the innocent, dammit.
This video truthout just had to go and link to was low class and tasteless. Hey, it's great that that little lowlife Schofield, hates George Bush. Hate George Bush all day long, but can we leave Jenna alone? She isn't in the political arena and she's celebrating a happy time in her life. I don't know what's worse, the fact that Mr Schofield just had to go and decide to make fun of Jenna because he doesn't like her father or that truthout found it humorous, dammit.
The message of the video itself.
Yes, Republicans DO try and stress abstinance, but then again, you start looking at the out of wedlock births and teen pregnancies, it's something like 70% for the black community and it's getting to be about 25% for whites, you look at those teen pregnancies and the consequences for the children and where those children end up at and what they become, does anyone really have to wonder why Republicans really want to stress not having sex as a teen?
Furrthermore, I suspect that the more liberal/democratic set, the elites and the rich, have one set of rules for those living in the inner city and quite another for THEIR children. Kinda like Al Gore tells us cretins to not be so wasteful of energy, yet he's footing four digit electrical bills and driving an SUV. I'm sure that the likes of Hillary, Schumer, Harry Reid et al, would be more than happy to give the speech to others about learning about condoms, I'm almost positive that those Liberals in Congress and their elite friends aren't telling THEIR children to pack a condom and have all the fun they want. I suspect that the rich ambitious liberals are not telling their little teen daughters to pack a condom and go for it. Food for thought anyway, dammit.
Also, that little dig about it being Bush's fault that Hurricane Katrina went and leveled New Orleans was totally below the belt, dammit. It has been known that New Orlean's levies wouldn't withstand a powerful hurricane for some 30 years. Let's see that's six Presidencies and the congress changing hands from democrat to republican then back again. Hardly the kind of thing to be blamed entirely on Bush, oh, and let's not forget all the local politicians in New Orleans and in Louisiana, they were aware of the condition of the levies, dammit. But then again, if there's a dead albatross to be found, the libs tend to delight in trying to hang it around Bush'd neck, dammit.
The main point being, would it be too much to ask that the all consuming hatred of Bush quite a few on the Left feel not be extended to his daughter? Would it?
Dammit.

I'm not a manager, I'm a moderator. I would think you'd want as much transparency as possible with your moderators, as opposed to your manager. It's none of your business why a co-worker gets disciplined, but when a poster gets warned don't you think that's a bit different? One reason I favor transparency is that I'm always being accused of being biased (by both sides because they don't see what I say to the other side), or that I have a personal grudge against the poster in question (again, because they're unaware of my other correspondence).
Honestly, I'm a trifle amazed at the amount of concern over my publicly telling a poster that their post is "inappropriate and unacceptable". WTF is the big deal here? In both cases where I've done this recently, the posts I've referred to in these cases have been more offensive and hurtful than having your posts labeled "inappropriate".

Judging from how articulate he was, and the satirical tenor of the post, it seems to me that he is an extremely intelligent person.
And then, there's the fact that the points he raises about Bush and his daughter --the entire point of the video being to aim a bit of richly deserved derision at the immense hypocrisy of the Rightwing, with their "abstinence only" message-- were very valid and delivered in a very humorous way.
Great video. Both trenchant and entertaining.
I will have to add, it's truly beyond belief to see the rightwing faction in this country --a country in which virtually every aspect of society is arranged to conform to what they want and what they see as being "right" -- instantly transformed into such crybabies over a little YouTube video made as a joke. Frogger has shown countless times that when faced with logical arguments he tends to resort to emotional posts. Obviously discussions get heated, but when you make posts that only verbally attack and degrade others it crosses the line between reasonable sparring to hurtful, meaningless posts – and that isn’t acceptable. It also turns threads into pointless negativity.
Don’t get me wrong, I myself have fallen victim to this too. But when someone has shown they don’t have enough self-control and repeatedly (not just ever so often) make posts that only personally hurt others, something should be done. Forums aren’t a free-for-all. There are rules, and I’d say Allforums is fairly lax on their rules. But I do agree with the rule that posters shouldn’t be allowed to post something that’s only purpose is to personally hurt someone else.
Frogger’s ego finally got the best of. He’s walked around this forum like he thinks he’s on a pedestal, and he feels that anyone who disagrees with him has a personal issue and that because of his life experience he knows so much more than everyone else. And oh boy does Frogger love to point out people’s personal flaws when debates get heated, because that’s all he can do when faced with logic.
Anyway, I await the moment he comes back and tries to make himself appear like a martyr. Maybe he'll even leave the forum because he's a "victim"...and so he can make a "point". HA. Sometimes you just gotta suck up your pride, but Frogger never does.
PS: Yes, I know my post isn't really doing anything but talking about Frogger's problems -- and is hypocritical on my part. But I'm honestly not trying to be mean, I'm just trying to point it out so maybe he'll learn or change. I've sent him many PM's expressing the fact that I honestly do like him...but that doesn't seem to get me very far. :)

Correction, the response to Hurricane Katrina was Bush's fault.
No, that's not what the video said.
"You could go to New Orleans...oh wait a minute no that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina...thanks to Jenna's dad, uh not taking action on that."
New Orleans was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Unless the federal government has some Hurricane-stopping power that I am not aware of, there was nothing Bush could have done to stop the destruction in New Orleans.
You can argue that perhaps the federal government didn't respond quick enough to help out survivors...but that's not what the guy said.

Nope, he actually spoke with 'the big guy' and ordered Katrina. Duh...

It's either that or some elaborate conspiracy theory in order to consolidate power. After all, most blacks are democrats right? It has to be true!

There was a lot that Bush --or any sane human being who cared in the slightest degree and who had the power of the entire government at his command-- could have done to mitigate the destruction and loss of life in New Orleans.
Which is exactly what the fellow in the video was getting at; he said that New Orleans was destoyed 'thanks to Bush not taking action' on that.
Bush did NOT--until the disaster had reached tragic proportions and he had been pleaded with for several days to help-- put into gear the necessary emergency actions.

What could have Bush done to stop the destruction a category 5 hurricane causes? I've been through a category 1 hurricane and saw the destruction a category 4 hurricane left behind. The power of these storms are amazing and to blame the federal government for any of the destruction is just unwarranted. I said before I think critizing the government for a slow response certainly has merit, but claiming Bush could have done something to stop the destruction of New Orleans is just silly. He's not Captain Planet.
It's little things like this that always rubs me wrong about partisan hacks on either side of the aisle. They don't see a problem with distorting the truth in order to make their point.

When I said there was a lot that Bush could have done to mitigate the destruction and loss of life in New Orleans, I was talking about there was a lot he could have done to lessen people's lives there in New Orleans being destroyed. Rescue efforts.

The greatest distortion of the truth I have seen on the Katrina issue comes from partisan hacks on the Right who excuse the Bush Administration and FEMA and what could have been and SHOULD have been done, had sane, responsible, caring human beings had any say so over responding to the storm's devastation.
Their response in terms of rescue was ABYSMAL, yet rightwingers STILL are making endless excuses for them.

Well, Turd, your ubiquitous "Wow" is certainly appropriate here. I feel badly for Frogger, however I understand why Vile chose to do what he did.
Anyway, I await the moment he (Frogger) comes back and tries to make himself appear like a martyr. Maybe he'll even leave the forum because he's a "victim"...and so he can make a "point". HA. Sometimes you just gotta suck up your pride, but Frogger never does.
I wouldn't worry about that, OD - my guess is he'll probably never come back. Primarily because of the likes of you, Truthout, and Dharmabum, but who cares - the big "meanie" is gone, so feel free to wax on emotionally all you want. We all know that you make stellar "points" when you do.
Yeah, come to think of it, you've never played the "victim" card, have you?

Dude, firstly, these people were told to leave. This isn't hard to "defend" at all. The dams were a known problem for 30 years. The mayor REFUSED federal assistance before Katrina hit land. As a matter of fact, within the United States, and as delineated in the National Response Plan, disaster response and planning protocol is first and foremost a local government responsibility. When local government exhausts its resources, it has to REQUEST specific additional resources on the federal level. The request process proceeds similarly from the county level to the state level, and then, accordingly, to the federal government as additional resources and needs are identified. Many of the problems that arose developed from inadequate planning and back-up communications systems on THEIR end, despite the dams being a known commodity in THEIR state, and the "abysmal" failure on THEIR end to do the right thing with transportation, the Superdome debacle, and proper preparations. You can impugn the federal government all you want - it doesn't change the fact that the Coast Guard was responsible for rescuing more than 33,000 people and more than 58,000 National Guard personnel were activated to deal with the storm's aftermath, with troops coming from all 50 states. 700,000 people were given housing assistance by FEMA (including, but not limited to, footing a RIDICULOUS tab for hotels these people could never afford to stay in on their own, even on vacation).
In short, they fucked up, not "George Bush".
Just because he's a pariah in your leftwing cuckoo world, it doesn't make the lack of "planning" for Katrina his fault. That's a local responsibility, period. The dams should've been addressed by any number of former mayors and presidential administrations, end of story.

I agree, Prae... great post. Too bad those who'd rather blame the president won't read it.
