Does anyone know of any good programs I can use to burn photos to dvd's?

I've heard of ULead but haven't tried it.

I'm looking for a free download software, even trial version and if I like it can purchase it.

Teach me something here. Why do you want to put them on DVD's and doesn't your burner have it's own program?

Why? Because I did a nekkid photo shoot and want to make a dvd with music and sell for profit!

Nah, just kidding.
I want to do a dvd for my momma of my family, the kids at various vacation spots and etc. A cd can only hold up to 700 mb *80 minutes* whereas a dvd can hold 4.7 GB *120 minutes*.

Also, they made me 4 cd's of family, their parents and grandparents, etc so I have one instead of giving me the photos. I want to combine them onto one.

And I want to make a chronicle of my photos I have taken of nature and the kids, and have them onto dvd's and stored in a safe place in case of fire, I don't want to loss them.
It would just be an easily way to save them and more convenient to do it that way.
Plus you can add music to it and create your own musical slide show.

I downloaded one program but they limit the amount of pics to the dvd, like 36, until you buy the software, and then they didn't offer much.

I'm looking for a program to let me do this. My burner won't let me or even acknowledge the photos to be burnt. I think you have to reformat them to a different ext. Not sure yet Sal, it's new to me.

Imp,
I use a Mac so this wont help you much...
I use iPhoto to organize and costruct my slide shows, iMovie to edit and build my videos, then import the individual projects into iDVD to author the finished project.

Ive never made a slideshow with music, so I cant recommend a program. You would need a program to turn the pictures into video with music. This will lower the quality of the pictures and make future editing very difficult. If you want to make a backup of your pictures you should make one copy of just the original picture files on a DVD, which you can do with almost any CD/DVD writing program. Heres a free one: http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net

So make one of each, a backup of the files, and a slideshow video that you can easily play on TV. Oh, and a lot of DVD players will play back pictures in a slideshow if you have a disc of picture files, no music though...

Okay, I did a Power Point presentation of my partner's nieces wedding. Took freaking FOREVER to put together. Did it years ago and have never done one since. I have all these pictures floating around. I'm scared of losing them. Some I have backed up to CD. Some old ones I have on a Zip file...good luck ever getting those off.... I KNOW I have to get to work on them. I just haven't bothered :( Just looking for ideas... but maybe not eh? It takes soooooooooo much time to do this stuff. And the first time is hit and miss.

Actually that did help, Ride.
I googled it for windows and found Picasa, that is great software for moving the pictures. I have over 1000 on my computer to burn and that program will do it.

*I'm running into a problem with reading my drive so I'm working on that.*

What system do you have Sal? You can unzip and extract your pics, it shouldn't be too hard for a duck to do. Well, maybe, with your web feet and all. Use your beak dear!

I'll be able to add music after I make the slide I think. I need to fix my drive first.
Thanks again.

Nah, they aren't on my system... they are on a zip disc. Not to worry. The guys I buy my computer from run the university system here. When I am ready, it is their problemo not mine. I simply can not believe that my brand new computer still has a floppy system but no zip slot. oh well....

Work hard dear, I want easy instructions with perfect results.:woohoo:

The way I was trying wasn't working. :( But I won't give up.

I did manage to make a movie with my own music thru Windows Movie Maker. You have to drop each pic in,oy.

I'm going to make one tomorrow with random pics from the internet and I'll put it here for you to see.
It's still not what I was wanting to do, but I learned something.
Powerpoint next! After the photo to dvd that is.
Sorry about your back, but have one on me.
Cheers.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/tormented/th_Randompics.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v133/tormented/?action=view&current=Randompics.flv)

Click on the pic, you can even watch it full size, it doesn't distort too much. Let me know if you can get into my photobucket though, ok?

Enjoy.:)

Imp,
I know youre working with a bunch of stills, but if you decide to do your own video on a Mac, heres a trick I learned the other day.
Import your video, as is, into QuickTime, save it, then run it through iSquint (free) to compress and add the h-264 encoding and save that as an mp4v. Then import the sequence into iMovie for editing. It's a few extra steps, but you'll retain the video quality and color depth.

Or you can drop 300 for Final Cut Express, which will do damn near the same thing (and a little more), or drop 1300 for Final Cut Studio, which will give you all the flexibility that Hollywood has.

Thanks Ride. I appreciate your tricks and tips and will use that if I do go with a mac.

I'm not going to be making videos all the time and don't really want to invest money into it yet. I have other things I am planning to buy. I am this close to buying a yacht and home schooling Sam and hit the waters and sail away and lose touch for awhile.

I can't seem to find a free download of Nero OT, do you happen to know of one I can use? I'd appreciate it greatly if you did.

I ended up getting Nero *it came with the dvd* and what an excellent program, you do almost anything with it!

I'm still learning, I told momma I was going to send her a dvd along with some pics I had done recently, I had to call and tell her she'll have to wait. I thought I knew how to do it but it didn't work. grrrrrrrrrrrr.
I'm still going to mess around with it when I get the chance.

I know its going to be a while before you read this, so I'll put it in a nutshell anyway
All the the software you need to organize and edit photos and video comes with a new Mac when you buy it. The factory hardware that omes in a Mac is quality stuff, not the seconds you get with cheaper PC's. The software, hardware and OS is designed to work together.

You dont need to upgrade hardware, because everythings already built in. Sure, the Gamers will bitch because the Mac doesnt fit their needs, but you dont spend money on a Mac to play games, you buy a Mac because you need to get something done without worrying whether its going to work or not.

The Video, Photo, and Graphics industry has known this for years, and the Music industry jumped on the bandwagon recently because Macs do it better. And easier. It requires very little brainpower to master the Mac OS, and the software. Rather than spend time learning how to do something, the Mac makes it easier to "learn on the fly", without wondering if you're going to break the machine or not.

If you want to add additional drives, you dont fuck with jumpers. Use a firewire enclosure and plug the fuckin thing in. Its there for you to use without having to dick around with anything.

The Mac is there for those that dont have time to deal with the bullshit. We have better things to do, like making deadlines or partying.
