View Full Version : The Temple of God.

Generally speaking alot of folks a saying that "your" body is the "Temple of God."

What could this possibly mean? Some of the folks that I have visited with on the internet said, "God should stay in Heaven where He belongs." They would rather that god was not occupying them.

And then this question comes up, "Can God actually occupy you?" :)

Dan, Inviolable, and any interested others?

He evidently (if we are to believe the Bible) *occupied* one particular region of Mary's body for a while.

I think you are mixing your philosophy.

Early Greek and Roman Philosophers believed that everyone had a tiny piece of divine essence that gave them life and enabled them to move between the different spirtual and physical realms upon death. (and for some rebirth)

So the idea that God is apart of you would be manifested in the Christian sense of the soul.

There is a verse in the Bible that tells one not to pray outloud, but to pray in one's closet. (By thought?) What closet do you carry around with you constantly except the body?
If, there is a soul in the body, then the body would be the housing temple.
Communication with the soul, sub-concious?, may be the only form of communication with all-that-is. That way all languages are equal.
If, what we call the soul, is part of what we call god, then the body would be a temple.

Just my humble opinion.

Sleven :) you are right I am mixing :) . Plato the father of western philosophy wrote something that he called the "Allegory of the Cave". In this writing he said that we were all like people living in a dark cave and that we thought the it was to only world there is.

And somebody discovered the entrance to the cave but the light was so strong that they couldn't approach it. Over time they got use to the light and approached the entrance to the cave and looked out of it. What they saw made no sense. Over time things started to sort themselve out and they saw a whole new world.

This somebody went back to the people in the cave and tried to tell them that there was a whole new world out there and that they didn't have to live in a dark cave. Could he describe the new better world to them? No he couldn't. Did they want to go look for themselves? No they didn't.

Sleven, I am not sure if the above is related to what you posted, but it is what we are up against, relative to this topic :) Ok?

Dan, I consider your humble opinion an awesome thing. Lets say that the Divine within you is like the flame of an oil lamp. And lets say that if you don't put oil in the lamp, the the flame gets smaller and smaller until it goes out and then you physically die.

Let also say that the more oil you put in this lamp, the brighter the flame gets and the more filled with "life" you are. And lets say that God's Holy Spirit is the Oil and that God is the Flame. And lets say that the Holy Spirit comes from Heaven and that God already dwells within you.

You can't be a "Batter" without the "Pitcher", so to speak. It takes two things that become one, as a game, so to speak.

Is it your thinking that one is born with this spirit, or is it an acquired thing?

Is it your thinking that one is born with this spirit, or is it an acquired thing?

:) We all love most young things, they were born with gobs of "living light". "Aren't they so cute!"

Relative to people, one learns pretty quick that folks will feed on that "Living Light", and not give any back. And relative to most animals (of which we are :) ) when they hit puberty :) they become a whole new ball game and pretty much aren't cute anymore. Hormones and stuff. I love baby rabbits (bunnys) until they hit puberty and then I want to take the 22 and shoot them. Fights break out all over the yard. Bunnys can be really vicious to each other. Talk about fur everywhere.

I have had female rabbits come to me because they were being "Ganged" by the young male rabbits, and something had to be done. When I had yard chickens I had that problem also. Needless to say there was alot of young roosters that lost their head that day :) .

Yes, most young animals and people are born filled with the "Oil" and "Flame" of Life. And, sometimes they carry this into ages beyond puberty. Hollywood is full of these people :) This is why we like to feed on them and worship them. It is like Jesus said' "You follow Me because I feed you."

The question is, "How do you refill your lamp to feed those around you and also maintain your temple in a healthy state?" It is like AfinerTouch, he just "sucks" at your life energy and you are not suppose to complain about his teeth. He is like others are, still on the "tit". One has to admirer "Frogger", he is just trying to hold ground, he is not trying to milk anybody. One has to say the same thing about "Freethinker", if you don't hold ground, they will suck you dry. And he is right, they will. Warior and NightHawk were doing the same, it is just that their approach was too confrontational in a civilized sense.

My point is Dan, is that you can oil your lamp from Heaven and when you see "suckers" coming that you don't want to feed, the best thing is to duck them. I don't remember the fellows screen name but he was sharing wisdom, he said/suggested an ignor list. Don't feed them :)

I honestly Love you Dan!

:) We all love most young things, they were born with gobs of "living light". "Aren't they so cute!"
Because they are still close to where they came from. Once we become "of the world" like teens we have buried it.

I believe that is the idea, to bury it then find it and increase it.

Relative to people, one learns pretty quick that folks will feed on that "Living Light", and not give any back. Those who suck on it, do not need to give it back. We have other sources and if we are hooked up properly we have a limitless supply.

Hollywood is full of these people :) This is why we like to feed on them and worship them. It is like Jesus said' "You follow Me because I feed you." Have to disagree with you here entirely tuck. There are many, many different foods to feed upon. There are not all of the proper light and they do not lead to light. There are many types of light and depending upon what you fill yourself with there will be many different outcomes.

Hollywood stars are not necessarily of the "light" that is most desirable. In fact I would say most are not. That people are followed and worshipped, is not a good indicator of correct light.

And neither are saying the right things nor quoting Christ. Rather it is how we live and thus what we exude. If you are a believer in Christ he will know his flock.... just because one professes something means crap and you know it. Just because another has chosen a different path does not mean they are on the wrong one.

Those who suck our life energy do so for a reason. It is up to us to discover why and correct the problem. It is always about us. It is not about them and they are not the problem. They are there for a reason.

Sometimes to avoid is best yes. But not long term. To avoid another empowers them and only gives us a resting period. We are not here to rest Tuck. We are here to learn, and experience and grow. (Not hide in a cave) ;)
Best learn why that somebody makes us crazy and learn to deal with it. Otherwise we begin to draw and draw and draw that to us until we are like the female rabbit, too weak to handle what she draws. Best deal with that first rabbit and gain strength. The others will see and turn away for they know their attempts will be in vain.

Sal to be honest with you, you are very wise. And when it comes to people you have experienced way more life than I have. Any person who has you for a friend is a very lucky person.

Acaveyogi is a yogi phrase for "a mystic". A cave yogi follows no tradition or living master/guru. It is a "go to your closet and pray sort of thing." The problem with spending thousands and thousands of hours in meditative prayer is meshing with the outside world should you decide to come out of your cave.

Most floks would think and do think that someone like me would be/is trying to establish themselves as a Guru. I don't want a following, I don't want to be a shepherd. I would rather be a sheepdog. I injoy tangling with the wolves, the cats, the bears, coyotes, and foxes. The problem is that there is more to serving God/Allah than that.

It is like Sparky2, he comes closer to serving God that I do :) he handles his flock well, including the preditors. And I admit that I could not do what he does and I will also admit that I have no idea how he does it :)

All Forums is another attempt by me to come out of my cave to explore meshing with normal reality. And the simple fact is that everybody on this messageboard is my teacher. And like Dan says, "Tucker you are odd." And he is right, I am odd. I don't know how not to be. I do not mesh well in normal society. My attempt to figure out how it is done, is All Forums.

Most everybody here is bright and awake and All Forums has good shepherds. Sal, I am the greatest living mystic in the world today. Nobody has gotten as far as I have gotten, not even close. But so what, I can't mesh with normal reality. I am just another odd person way out there.

Anyway Sal, thank you for letting me cry on your shoulders, it is appreciated.

Tucker,

As a Christian I believe the Holy Spirit dwells within me. Since the Holy Spirit is one aspect of the Triune God that means God dwells within me. The dwelling place of God is called a temple, hence, my body is a temple of God.

This is an important concept because it seperates us from most pagan religions that feel their god is located in a particular place, ie. a temple. Such a god is finite. If he is in a temple he cannot be everywhere. A god that dwells within the bodies of his believers can be everywhere. He is always with us and we need not travel to a specific place to find Him or wait for a specific time to speak with Him.

God is indwelling. He lives in each of His believers.

Trust me, you will not be disturbing my reality in the slightest. I've dealt with many a kook who thought they were the greatest mind/mystic/shaman the world's ever seen. Hell I even was part of a community full of them. They're not so uncommon as you seem to think. Was a dedicant in a Wiccan coven for awhile, studying many such mystical topics.

If you think it's possible to seriously disrupt a person's reality over the Internet, you are very mistaken.

Welcome Dharmabum to this topic, which "seems :) " to have gotten out of control :) But then I do love Chaos as potential. :) Which is why I like Sparky :) Damn but he is good at that :)

About your statement, usually it is one looking at themself and thinking that they are God.

When one reaches a certian level of understanding one discovers "The mirror." If one thinks that they are God looking at God, then they are :)

"The mirrior" is a door that separates this world from Paradise and the Divine.

If "The mirrior" reflects back, then one does not step through it.

Dharmabum, your first challenge as a yogi and one who is actually seeking the Divine, is "self". When it comes to God there is no "Self", He never needed any. "Self" is a this worlds concept.

Heh, I'm actually quite impressed that you haven't blown your top yet. Most pretenders to the crown of achievement for worthless endeavors are very defensive when questioned, both about the veracity and import of their claims. You just get a little upset when people are rude to you. And you are honest about the mundane realities of such a thing. (I've been using that phrase, mundane realities, quite a bit lately, hm) I'm open to the possibility that you're perhaps a bit more observant and wise than most, but you have to prove that to me, and so far you've just told everyone here they're loved, and repeated new-agey observations that I've noticed cut no deeper than pond scum. You'll have to do better than that. Think of it as a challenge to help you learn how to deal with the real world.

Tucker, should you happen to complete the task, you might find in the future wanting to exercise this "normal voice," more often. This is a natural urge and should be embraced. Side effects include vomiting, diarrhea, headaches and possible flu-like symptoms. See a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms or find yourself unable to sleep at night. Results are not guaranteed and vary from person to person. See store for details.

Tucker, your first task: talk like a normal person. Complete that, then we can start on the second one.

You don't have to do it all the time now, mind you. Just once.

A platitude is a trite, meaningless, or prosaic statement that is presented as if it were significant and original. From Wikipedia. And don't get all subservient on me, I had to look it up before I used it.

The question is, "How do I explain it to "You"" And maybe, "Why should I disrupt the reality that you live in? You are happy Nappy with it " You are a functional reality, no matter what anybody thinks, "If works don't fix it.".

Nappy, deos that mean that I am too slow to even be a "Troll?" Ah man!

It is funny but I have no idea what "New Age Philosophy" is, and Nappy, you are the second person in three years (He was a published Catholic writer) to tell me that I am just running "new age" stuff. Tuomas, "What is "New Age" shit?" I may be in the wrong place.

Nappy, about disrupting your reality: I agree with you, "The world is flat."

"Normal" :) nobody on this messageboard is "normal" except you :) "Normal" your version, adds up to non creativity and stagnation. At the same time, "normal" really needs to have a presences. Total chaos is a non functional reality. This is why we love Sparky :) and why "All forums.net" is a functional reality. He handles creative flux and still maintains a civilized reality. Nappy you have no idea how tricky Sparky's job is :)

Controlled "Chaos", I couldn't do it :) but Sparky can :) Nappy there is no room or appreciation of "Creativity" in your reality. You are like the Catholic Chuch. At the same time, reality needs an "anchor" and you represent that "anchor".

All Forums.net is a group of people who have permission to explore "creative flux". And All Forums.net has management that can give us "creative Folk" permission to play :) And yes you are going to tell me that I am not creative :) I am just getting started :)

At the same time those of us that play here, need people like you and people that call other people "Trolls". And yes I do call somebody here "slimy and stinky" :) otherwise I would have to call them a "troll".

Warrior and Nighthawk were not "Trolls". They both would confront you up close and personal and shove it down your throat! But that is not an intellectial reality in a civilized sense.

Nappy, I know that no person in this world can ever change you. At the sametime, I am personally happy to have you represent "normal". You are a petunia in an onion patch.

Tucker, "normal" is talking like you know how you would get along with a random person you meet, say, in a bar. Talking about what beers you like, what kind of cars you drive, what are the good restaurants to go to. How you love your kids, what music you like, what instruments you play. What you plan on doing in five years. What your mom used to yell at you for when you were seven. Anything we would find interesting and make us want to hear more.

Just for the record everybody, I would like to be considered "a little bit Country and a little bit Rock and Roll." in an ideal reality :) . To be considered a "Troll" on this messageboard is considered the "Kiss of Death".The community is on your butt! Or at least part of it :) and they working on things.

Nappy is just going to consider me weird and uneducated. I am a threat to normal reality :) I hope so. But, at the sametime normal is our "anchor", and a reality with no anchor is actually non functional.

I actually do love you Nappy! But at the sametime, "I am on nobodys ignor list (at least nobody has said that I was) and nobody has called me a "Troll". Sheesh!

I don't want to be normal. I lied to Nappy. I want to be a part of a group that is dedicated to "Creative flux". That actually was my defintition of "normal". And I don't want to get "Banned". I love Sparky's definition of "Civilized". OK?

Can I be concidered a "Troll" in a "Creative flux" reality and still come under Sparky's definition of civilized? The problem with Nappy is that he is trying to drift me in to a non troll reality so that I don't walk the edge of a non civilized reality (and maybe even be civilized). I don't want to be Nappy's normal, I want to be just a "hair" over "normal", when it comes to the "Creative Flux" of All Forums. :)

Yes Nappy and I are having fun, but please don't consider that me. I want to be a "Troll" and actually get away with it :) OK?

See, when people don't join the community and share bits about themselves and let the others get to know them, they start to feel left out and outcast. I don't want that to happen to you. No Tuck I truly am not concerned if you are attempting to manipulate me or not when speaking of spiritual matters. When speaking politically or worldly then manipulation could be a problem since logic may be twisted to will if one knows how to do so. Spirituality may not. Spirituality is personal therefore I respond only to what is upon the page and where it leads me. And I trust me in this realm.

While others may find that realm to be like quick sand, I enjoy the shift. What is today, may not be tomorrow. Therefore we each are where we are. And where we are, is only for now.

You can not manipulate me nor I you. Not on this plane. We are beyond that. We are honest, we share and grow or we hide and stay still while others move on.

Once again, it is that simple, and that complex.

I care not about how people view my belief or if they judge me. They are mortal and as such limited. It is not my problem if they feel the need to judge or mock. That is merely where they are.

NOT just underpants Tuck, it is a spiritual chastity belt. None may penetrate unless given the key.

You love God and Jesus, just like I do. Sometimes that requires a version of "rogue", relative to this world of things. In His day, Jesus was "rogue", He just was. At the sametime "mean spirited", He was not. Mean spirited is just not right, relative to "rogue".

Well I'll use an example of someone I think thought she was occupied by God.

Tammy Faye. Now before everyone groans and boos and hisses, she was one strange lady that I had zero respect for (meaning I only knew of the scandal she and her former husband perpetrated upon the public) until I saw her death interview on Larry King.

That woman, ravaged by cancer, weighing in at 65lbs was full of peace and emanated an incredible spirit. Deepak Chopra commented afterwards that the reason she was still alive was because 1. she still wanted to be and 2. the belief she held gave her such peace that her body was able to control the inflammation which would otherwise have killed her long ago.

Thus the mind/spirit/body connection is strong.

Ok Sal :) I have thought about your input for awhile :)

Sal I am trying to make things simple and "cut and dried". You are saying to me and those that are viewing, that things are abit more complex than the way that I am presenting them. You are right :) !

Relative to folks feeding on "Light and Darkness" and folks being occupied by the presence of God, things are not simple. They are actually very complex. If one factors in, we being ourselves and God being Himself/Herself, and these things are taken into consideration :) , which based on your experiences and observations need to be taken into consideration, Sal you do create an interesting challenge :) not because you are wrong :) but because you are right :)

Tammy Fae, as she lay dying, was occupied by God, and folks actually do "feed on darkness." :)

I am attemping to share with people that one can be occupied by the presence of God and that this as an option to be explored, relative to things might be interesting.

The problem is the complex :) And I suppose that if the Holy Spirit will speak through me and Sal and others, the complex, is a gift to be explored.

So any way Sal, it is back to meditatve prayer and see what happens :) . Sal thank you, and I honestly love your input!

The simple: Jesus is an example of it, Mohammed is an example of it, and Shiva is an example of it.

The complex: Actually everthing else is the complex :)

So this question comes up, "Sins against the Holy Spirit can never be forgiven." "What could sins against the Holy Spirit possibly mean?"

Based on my experience, the "simple" is that when you allow the Holy Spirit to flow from Heaven to you the Divine within you takes on "mass". And this increase in "mass" changes you into something different. The "complex" is everthing in this world, encluding one's self concept (which is from this world), that prevents you from being connected to the flow.

Tucker58 People actually told you that God should stay in Heaven where he belongs? That they would rather that god was not occupying them. That sounds far fetched. If someone believes in god why would they not want him here?

I don't know Purple :) it blew me away and that is why I brought it up :) I just never thought about that. But at the sametime meshing with God, can be for some of us, a handful. My student Tuomas is afraid as a mystic, to explain to others that they can be at one with God, because of his experience with being at one with God. :) And the truth is that his experience fits mine.

Poeple who have absolute faith in God never get screwed by God. The rest of us seem to have to run a learning curve. With absolute faith folks, nobody needs to talk to them, they have things "dicked". It is the rest of us that are the challenge :) when it come to exploring God.

By the way PurpleKush, it is nice to meet you!
