View Full Version : Any of you hippies into filmmaking?

Yeah, anyone interested in it as an art/career/hobby? I'm into it for all three (well, the career part is just a pipedream for now) as far as directing goes. I haven't really done anything yet, but I have some basic ideas. Only problem is that I'm such a shoddy writer that I can't really finish a script on my own. But one of these days...........*

*absolutely nothing will happen, probably, but I can still dream.

I'm more on the performance side, although I have loved the experience I've had doing a little directing. I've been dancing since I was 4, singing and acting since I was 9. My dreams is to perform on Broadway doing Musical Theatre. The Stage is my love and home. :)

What media of directing do you want to do? Goodluck with everything!

I've always been most interested in film more then anything, but I think it'd be great to dabble in other areas. David Lynch, for example: Awesome filmmaker, takes some time away from that and makes one of the best television shows ever created. But then again, he's a genius and I'm not, so I kind of have that working against me.

Hayley

Well just find the creativity in yourself and grow from that. I'm sure David Lynch wasn't genius at first....Practice makes perfect...have you gone to school for film?

CaractacusPotts

No, I haven't gone to a film school, and I'm really not sure if I want to. I've heard lots of self supporting/indy Vs. school taught stuff, and frankly I think I'd almost do better just going out and doing it. For right now, though, I'd be happy just getting together a lot of people I know and shoot a cheap horror film for a few hundred dollars.

hey Hayley, what kind of stuff have you been in? [/quote:87825a9f39]Well I started out mainly as a dancer when I was really young and broden my horizons. I've done a lot of professional dancing shows, some tv and commercials, even a music video when I was younger :what: eeeeeep haha Right before I got into HS I got highly involved in theatre and musical theatre. I've done various shows, I just graduated from American Musical and Dramatic Academy in October....I had a bad roommate situation so I just moved back home temporarily about a month ago to get some money together so I can have a new start kinda when I do get back to NYC. I'd much rather be in So CAL, but my career is there.

[/quote:6af20f6e5c]you know when I was on it..Lucy was 18 and Mary was barely 14 in real life. It was a once episode thing...friend of Lucy's....dealing with her lil bf at the time....it was awhile ago...I got heavily into theatre at 13ish.....so I kind of stopped wanting to go on the stupid commerical auditions n shit. *shrugs* The stage is my love....I will be on Broadway soon...watch for me ;)

Little known fact: I was actually on Broadway at one point. I had the starring role in a small show about a tap-dancing bear from the circus who dreams of making it in the big city. It was cancelled halfway through the first show, and our producer's and director were all killed by an angry mob. I think I'd like to do stage again, sometime.

I would also love to be in film making. I would rather do the directing/writing than performing though. I am currently working on writing my first script and I am in the process of writing my own novel also. :D I just love it.

Hi Hayley,

I am a huge fan of broadway. I would say my favorite so far is Les Miserables. You'll have to keep us posted when you start on Broadway.

Now . . . question . . . and this may be a stupid one . . . is the LA in your profile Los Angeles or Louisiana (sp?)?

=p

This may seem silly, but I had a dream about the movie The Wizard of Oz and it was so cool I decided it would make an awesome movie. So it is really a remake, only no singing and slightly more of a PG-13, PG type movie rather than rated G. ;)

I don't think it seems silly at all. I think it's a great idea and I wish you the best of luck.

You can count me in for opening night!!! :D

That doesn't seem silly. I've always wondered what a darker Oz would be like, and I think it could actually make a pretty good movie.

=p [/quote:fbd39e5a6a]Awesome....I definitely will. My personal fav is Into the Woods , along with some others.

Not a stupid question....its Los Angeles, technically Agoura hills 45mins N or LA by Malibu. Just easier to say LA to people who don't know other cities in cali then the major ones. I'm originall born and raised in so cal...and moved to NYC when I was 17 1/2 for school and obviously the career hehe I just moved back to so cal a lil over a month temporarily because i had a really bad roommie situation, and my original plans of going back in April kind of got screwedddddddddddd so I'm in the process of just making some money working to get a new living situation in nyc. :)

Yeah....I have the Cats tape....*wrinkles nose* That stuff doesn't interest me too much. I'd rather go to a baseball game than to a Broadway Musical.
But...films interest me very much. I considered going into filmaking...but then I fell in love with Astronomy. My sister though, as you know Zach, is in love with filmaking. She'll be going off to film school in a couple of years...
