Hello to all members, I am angelina from Italy and I am 37. As I am very health conscious, very often I went to my GP to do several check-ups. But last year I was shocked on hearing I suffer from thyroid problems. While doing some blood tests, my doctor has diagnosed that I have got thyroid problems. As I am afraid of doing surgeries, I was put on medication which did not work at all. I am feeling very awkward with this enlarged thyroid goiter. My friend told me about synthroid, http://www.drugdelivery.ca/s3789-s-SYNTHROID.aspx (http://www.drugdelivery.ca/s3789-s-SYNTHROID.aspx) which helped a lot to cure thyroid problems.
I would like to know if anyone has used this medication for their thyroid problems. Is it effective or it will aggravates the situation?? Do I need to have a prescription first??

Synthroid works fine, if prescribed in the proper dose, and as long as you go back to the doctor to have yourself tested for thyroid function on a routine basis (to have the doseage adjusted as necessary).

It's not a 'one size fits all' pill. You have to work with the doctor to get it right.

My mom has thyroid problems. She wasn't aware of it until she had Grave's Disease. She's now on a medication (sorry, I have no idea what it's called) But she has been doing very well on it. It took awhile to find the right dosage. And she still has to go in for blood work every now and then just to make sure that it's working properly. She did have an radioactive iodine injection as well because of the graves disease.

AND believe it or not, my dog had a thyroid problem. He was on a medication for it as well. And he too had to go in for blood work to find the correct dosage and then every now and then to make sure the medication was still working properly. It worked great for him too.

Yes, you need a script for the medication you are asking about.
