Though many people may disagree with an idea that there is a connection between music and current politics, there is one. For example, Pennywise, a punk rock band, released their album, Land of the Free?, about 3 months before the 9/11. One of their songs, "The World" discussed the needs of people to deal with the current problem before "the gun that's loarded" explode. Thus this album was more like a warning for the big thing that's gonna come soon.
People may laugh at this connection. However, music is a way for people, especially young people, to be exposed to different ideas. Some political issues may help them grasping the current world more than reading newspaper or watching TV. So, if you haven't checked out, you might wanna go and check out different perspectives different people have

I've never listened to the group, but I certainly support anything that gets people involved in current events. It's nice to hear that musicians aren't all just cranking out mindless garbage :)

Many different musical groups have been attributed with different political movements... I remember when "Rage Against the Machine" was viewed as almost godlike in their status for this reason.

I'll have to go look up the lyrics to that song now.

Pennywise also does a song where they talk about how they dont want any responsiblilty and how all they want to do is have fun and fool around. It is a cool song though.
